A idea I had while watching, was possibly replacing the "delay" with a comparator that detects when a item passes through that final hopper, as then regardless of how many destinations you have, the system will always automatically adapt to the correct length and never release the Minecraft untill the "stamp" passes through that final hopper that puts it back in the Minecart! EDIT: while that's a good idea, you would need some sort of timer anyways, just encase you receive a minecart without a stamp in it. Otherwise your system will hault and never resume... But still you could use it and potentially figure out a way to make it work into the system! Then it can save time for those stamps that have a shorter travel distance as you don't need to assume the longest delay for the longest travel length of stamp! Just a idea, but love your design of the whole delivery system!

I like the concept, and have a few compliments to make before I get on with what I did to change it: The empty carts being rejected into a pit is hilarious, and I love it! The overall simplicity of the design makes it's function very easy to follow. Giving players an alternative for different rail alignments is good. I couldn't seriously impove upon the buffer system, it's so simple and compact there wasn't really anything I could do, and the only change I ended up making was to mirror it to fit into a more compact position. Although I ended up making a few changes with mine, to make it faster, use less resources, and be more compact. I think I understand why you didn't do this in the tutorial, as it makes it more complicated, which would've made it harder to give such an easy tutorial for. I replaced the red circuit with a comparator that detects when the item has entered the last hopper, waits a tick, then sends the minecart, with a comparator count-down clock to act as backup in-case such item doesn't arrive, sending the minecart to purgatory. I minimised the use of redstone blocks where possible. The purple circuit is condensed to run within the main footprint of the build. The repeaters between the blue circuit and the main RS-nor latches can and were removed entirely. The pink circuit was modified to use alternating redstone dust and repeaters to make the system switch tracks faster. Buffer circuit comparator clock replaced with repeaters, which slightly speed everything up. Cart storage increased, and circuit moved to move compacted location.

I had this tought a time ago in a server with my friends Built a main minecart line across 8 chunks or so, then we added a plane's mod and my rail network proyect became obsolete I feel happy to see someone made my proyect more complete, because what i had in mind was a simpler system Before a minecart would pass a switch joint, a comparator reads the signal from it. The chest holds just one ítem (shulker with things you want to send) and a number of ítems aside that indicates the strength that the signal from the comparator Will have. Then add a gate with a different signal imput for every house, so that, if signal Is false, the minecart turns arround and goes on in a circuit to the next base, if the signal is true, then the minecart goes on and reaches what was set as destination
@Puffster

I designed a mail system that used shulkers as packages. I also used paper and filters but the paper was injected into the shulker that contained the addressing info. Between each station there would be nodes that would check the address info and send the shulker in the correct direction.

I should make mine look more clean like this though idk how you do it so well, mine is so much messier 😭

There is so many cool projects with minecarts, redstone and other things that you could do in Minecart, but the fact that active redstone or moving minecarts don't load chunks makes a lot of them obsolete. I wish they had a gamerule to allow for this, so that public servers can prevent abuse and severe lag, while small private servers can enjoy the utility of projects like this one. A need to build a weird portal contraption everywhere is a sign of a flaw in the game design in my opinion.

This is really clever. However, one request (tip) -- before doing a block-by-block tutorial, I would recommend going over the major components in your design. For example, saying "I used an item sorter here to do X, chained to an RS nor latch array component to do Y, etc etc." With the reasoning. At least for me, that would help me a lot in getting an idea of your design & design process. :) Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing

8:27 To elaborate: The hopper doesn't necessarily need to point into the comparator. It can also point to the back. The thing that's important is that it does NOT point into any other hopper or any container. If it's difficult for you to aim at the small edge of the comparator then you can put composters on top of the first hopper line you built and then aim the hoppers into the composters. It is theoretically possible to get a working filter with those hoppers pointing into each other, but this is diffiicult to get right. It also requires unique filter items (or uniquely named items) for the filters to work. This is because the hoppers want to put the stuff that's inside of them into the thing it points into. So it can point into any container, as long as the container does not have any free spots left. But this is a bit too complicated and detailed for in the video, so pointing it into the comparator is always safe :)

it should be relatively easy to make multiple districts, right? it's just a matter of having one post office per district and two sets of stamps (one for people, one for dsitricts). every district would know only the stamps of the players living in there and of the other districts. so, if you are in District1 and want to send a stamp to Player10 in District2 you just add a District2 stamp along with the Player10 stamp. the minecart would go to the District1 post office, get sent to District2, and that district's post office would send it to Player10. you could even have multiple layers of this (one stamp per layer) and eventually have "international" logistics. probably the railway between larger stations should be more robust, with multiple channels, to avoid collisions. this actually sounds so cool. and I really wish I could do that in the game... but I don't have enough friends for that to be practical, lol.

LOL. I invented nearly exactly the same thing two years ago. It works almost exactly the same way but it's even simpler. Minecarts come in, the stamp (i called it a card) gets removed, and the cart gets sent on the correct track. Mine was simpler, faster, and more expandable however. All carts enter on one line (like yours) then get run across a bunch of modules. Each module is the same. It contains an item filter, and simple redstone mechanism the flips a switch. The switch is timed so it changes just as the cart moves over it. If a cart somehow bypasses all of the modules (could be caused by a malfunction) it gets recycled back through. Carts that switch off the main line get routed to the correct outbound track. The cards get kept by the system so that you can have players pay for the service. Due to how it's built, the cart never stops moving and it is infinitely expandable. I'm not saying your design is bad. I'm just giving you advice on how to improve it.
@jazziiRed

As an alternative to the long delay mentioned around 22:00, wouldn't a simple falling edge detector on a comparator for the hopper facing the minecart be possible? I guess a very small delay there would also be useable instead of a edge detector. This has the benefit that it means that no minecart has to wait longer than needed, and it without changes scales to any size.

you could make a way to "recicle" them by sending back an empty Minecart chest with only a stamp when you receive one, and actually using one of the bases (G for example) as the post itself, so you can address the post. The letter cemetery cold also store the items in the chest and then somehow put it back on the dispencer? Or create a "waiting line" of minecart chests Edit: But you still have to retrieve the stamps by foot, I'm no good with redstone, so I don't know how

I may be missing it, but was there a thing set up to handle if someone sends one in with no stamp?
@jazziiRed

Yes, minecarts without a stamp will go to that hole in the ground

@@jazziiRedI made my own design for this and it will just get stuck in a breaker for the minecart to wait till the appropriate track is on

Cool machine, does it have idiot protection. If a cart doesn't have a ticket it seems it may just loop. I know I would forget every now and then Edit: It does with timestamp in reply. I did not watch the whole video and it shows.

Yes in 25:03 he starts building the "Dead Letter Office". So every Minecart without a ticket ends up there

Doesn’t work anymore i did it step by step and the last rail on the left doesn’t go back into that s shape so one chest goes into dead letter then the rest just goes to the first output

Ok but what does C do with all their C stamps? Is there a way to send it back to A?

I wonder if it could be possible to send the stamp back to the sender, instead of putting it back in the minecart?

Nah this would just waste minecarts like if u send someone a package who is like soooo far from you would you just make a system to return one piece of paper?
