The Akara ceiling light looks REALLY interesting (given that we're about to do a kitchen reno). I see you have no affiliate link yet so I presume it's not yet on the market. Any idea when it will be available (if only on Amazon US)? Also, how is it wired? Can it, in particular, be powered through PoE? or will it need an electrical box set into the ceiling?

Hey David, I’m not too sure on those details yet. I think it’ll be a 120V wire in like other ceiling fixtures, but again…not sure!

Hello, Brian I've been watching your channel for a long time and I really like what you do. I have an idea for automation but I can't do it, I've been looking for how to do it for more than a month but without success. I have a driveway - I want to have 5 LED lights along the driveway that will be on at 10% from 8PM to 5AM and two motion sensors at the beginning and end of the driveway and when it detects motion it will boost the lights to 100% and run for 5 minutes and after this again reduced them to 10%. Separately, I want to add a sensor to the front door when the door is opened, so that the lights start to light up and I get a phone ring, not just a notification. Can you advise me what I need, what lights, what hub, what sensors are suitable for my project.

I don't know that I can get you a phone ring done. At least not with any smart home system I use. I would say that the sensor can be a Hue Outdoor or a Zooz Outdoor Motion Sensor. The Hub, you have your pick of SmartThings, Hubitat, and/or a more complex system. The lights, well...kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ_IZIJjoJxgfbc. Those fit your description and would work with SmartThings. You could also just do Hue outdoor lights, with Hue's motion and be done. ;) They have a Sensor for doors now too.

I held out on lutron caseta (until the Diva design) because prior style of dimmers and the loss of prior dim setting was deal breaker. Outside of cost, it is optimal smart switch solution for me. I have a mix of switches because I've had to wait years for the latest. first I've seen of that diva style remote was in this vid.

Very interesting, Brian. I ordered the Flic Twist so many months ago that I've almost lost interest. I'm glad you got yours. I bought one of the Lutron Pico Paddle switches from Home Depot. I like it. The Wyze camera idea of having it watch/report on something like stove controls is very interesting although I no longer have Wyze cameras installed....Aqara instead. Thanks for the info on the Amazon Show 10. I have one in my kitchen but also have an Apple Homepod Mini in my kitchen which is also a thread border router. I only have two Thread device sconnected, though, and those are an Eve outdoor temp sensor and an Eve Motion sensor. I'm not crazy about Thread at this point as it seems a bit disjointed. Keep up the good work. I especially liked this particular video. The format was great as was the information and you covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time.

Thanks for the video! So many choices seems important to pick an ecosystem or two and stick with it otherwise you end up with a bunch of disjointed apps. I have Wink, Hue, Govee, Reolink, Schlage, Ubiquiti and probably more I’m not able to recollect. When the power goes out I get cold sweats trying to put it all together again :)

I am looking forward to see how the flic twist matures because atm it is half baked, especially if you are on android as not all its features are available atm. Also I am hoping that they will make it possible to click and then use the dial for that click for example click 1 turns lights on/off and dial used within a set time and it controls dimming those lights, click 2 controls media on/of and dial within set time controls volume etc

Good ideas! You know, Android got some big updates yesterday. Flic has told me they’re working on stuff, so we will all have to watch as it matures! I’ll keep working with it :)

11:46 LOL yeah right LG can't even get their TV's to work with Alexa my 55" C1 wont work with thin Q and alexa no matter what I do, it's a known issue too. I can't even turn the TV on or off or mute or adjust volume I bought a wifi IR controller that works with Tuya from aliexpress for $1.78 and it took less than a mintue to set up with the smartlife app and it controls my TV and my AC and my AVR with no problems but a huge company like LG can't even make one their top end TV's work with Alexa. it is really pathetic that a 1k plus TV from a ulti billion dollar company like LG doesn't work with Alexa but I can buy a device from China for les than $2 that works flawlesly with alexa and can control millons of devices. Alexa intergration on web OS is so bad that Alexa doesn't even work from the dedicated Alexa button on the magic remote let alone from my echo dot.

Oh TV OS' have been terrible traditionally, especially with the voice assistants. Heck, Samsung's TVs barely work with anything else. This and Matter aims to change that. Let's hope!
