Automatic Litter Box Modification

Larger hopper goes a week or more without dumping. There is no litter odor at all. The lid comes down after the dumping keeping odors from exscaping and the litter tray fits sung up against the bottom of the box to keep odors from escaping. That is awesome! It would be terrific if you patent it, then make up plans to sell for various size automatic litter boxes. Amazon, youtube, and Facebook could be your selling platforms. I bet it would be a nice tidy profit.

Can you post more specific details on your build? Yeah, I know, it's "just a box on wheels," but a lot of these DIY videos usually have parts lists and step-by-step instructions.

Sorry I don't have plans for this project. (There are different models of LitterMaid so I would need to make plans for all the models). I built this straight out of my head. The LitterMaid dictated the size of the box I needed to built . I used the shoot to dictate the size of the cut out opening I needed to make the shoot fit in the cut out. I picked up a plastic container at the Wally World and made some runners so the container could slide in and out under the floor shoot opening. If your handy with tools this is an easy project; it's pretty straight forward and the photos on my page here will give you a better idea of how to do this. Even though there are no plans I believe this video should help some people make one. Maybe you can find a handy guy or gal to help you make one for your cat. lumberjocks.com/projects/195490

Love the idea of this, was wanting to make one myself but didn't know where to start. But I'm really interested in the red plastic plate you have across the top of the rake. Where did you get that or how did you make it? I have to stop my cats from getting right up next to it to do their business. Thanks for any information and kudos for what you made!

Sorry for the long wait. The red plastic is just a piece of sign board from a local sign company. I cut it on my band saw and attached it using double face tape. You could use some stiff cardboard also. Thanks for the nice comments!

How did you modify the chute to prevent the scatter as the refuse falls? I modified my cats' littermaid box but still can't figure out a good way to stabilize the chute.

Hi I copied a modification for the littermaid. The litter scoops into a scented 13 gallon trash bag that is going into the shoot into a plastic tub. A huge issue is the stench. I’m using litter maids corn cob litter because I prefer it over the pebble like litter. Plus Scoopable litter clogs up the littermaid. What can remove the stench on going all day? I have used Armen Hammer deodorizer and poured it directly into the bags daily. That is normally a good deodorizer but not with that much Doodoo. Even one day it starts to smell. I’ve been changed the bag every three days.

I'm not sure. I don't get a stench with my system. All the waist goes into the tray inside the box and when the door goes down the odder can't escape. I use Scoop clumping litter.

@@tjcarita tractor supply has stall litter that will help with the stench and ammonia .

@@kristenposada914 With my system there is no odor at all once the the "duty" has been dumped in to the receptacle. The door closes and no odors escape.

Hey Nick, It's not that hard to make. It's just a box on wheels with a hole and shoot. You can put a plastic container under the shoot to catch everything.
