Hi, what difference/effect on the TCM/ECM does it make when you swap a gearbox on a 1.6l, 74KW engine with a 2.0l, 85KW engine. The gearbox code of the 1.6l,74KW engine is FDH and that of 2.0l, 85KW engine is FDG. The major difference in these two gearboxes are the number of clutch packs (K1,K2,K3, B1 and B2), the number of teeth on the input/output, pinion/ crown wheel gears. The physical construction, connection points, connectors, valve body and other components are the same. They are also both For 4 speed 01M auto transmission gearboxes. Thank you.

Is there or do you provide complete O1M trans rebuild? I have a 2000 VW 1.8T with the o1m trans that has had a catastrophic failure. It will go in reverse only. I have removed the trans, and a small rebuild shop disassembled the trans and informs me I need a new trans. I find multiple pieces of very small broken into piece "springs", small like you'd find in a ball point pen as well as black pieces of plastic that look well spun and polished as if they've been in there for awhile. I see many rebuild "kits" which include steels and friction plates, etc...I did not dissemble so I have no Idea just how it goes back together. What do you have?

the best Thanks for watching our video! Our tech manuals help in the rebuild of breakdown of the specific tranny you are working on. If you are finding small broken up pieces in the tranny, you may just need a new tranny. Small pieces like that can cause more damage in the long run if its not properly addressed. If you need some tech help feel free to give us a call at 1-800-245-7722. We are always here to help!

I assume in the 5 years past that you have replaced the transmission. But what you have (or had) is the piston return spring and (plastic) retainer which have blown apart and been ground up. this piston return spring is a stainless circular piece about 4" across with a bunch of holes where one end of all these little springs were. The other end of the springs were retained by a plastic circular thicker piece of plastic. If you pulled it out you would see a snap ring that didn't really hold anything as the thickness of the piston return spring had likely all disappeared and scattered throughout the transmission.
