I knew a guy that was a contractor and he would buy a new truck every few years. As soon as he bought it, he kicked dents in the panels all over. The dealer salesperson freaked out, thinking he was angry and didn't like his new truck. However, the contractor explained that trucks get destroyed pretty quickly on the work sites. A clean shiny new truck was like a magnet for damage and it was very upsetting and caused a lot of drama with his workers and subcontractors. So he would get it over with by denting the truck himself right at the get-go. He even asked the salesperson to help him put dents in it. "Now," he said, "I can relax and not worry about it."

It was funny when some University guys took 30 year old diesel engine and put cats on it. Suddenly that engine was in spec for the current emission standards. Making sci-fi a reality Cybertruck deliveries begin today! - More utility than a truck, faster than a sports car 11,000 lbs towing capacity, 2,500 lbs max payload. Est. 340 miles of range. (Dual Motor) 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. (Tri Motor) - Ultra-hard stainless steel exoskeleton & shatter-resistant Armor Glass Fewer dents, less damage & long-term corrosion. Easy & simple repairs. Armor Glass can resist the impact of a baseball at 70 mph or class IV hail & acoustic glass helps make the cabin insanely quiet. - Steer-by-wire & rear steering Gives you the handling of a sports car & a better turning radius than most sedans. Also, incredible stability & maneuverability for a full-size truck. - 4-corner adaptive air suspension Offers 12” of travel & 17” of clearance. - Plenty of storage 6’x4’ bed that doesn’t need a liner & is big enough for 4’x8’ construction materials. 67 cu ft of lockable storage (additional 54 cu ft available with rear seats folded up), with a Vault cover that’s strong enough to walk on. - Power everything Integrated outlets: 120v cabin power, 120v & 240v bed power. If the grid goes down, Cybertruck can provide up to 11.5 kW of power directly to your home. - Space & comfort like a living room 18.5” touchscreen in the front & 9.4” touchscreen in the back, both with all-new UI. 15 speakers with 2 dedicated subwoofers & distributed amplifiers create a studio quality sound stage-obviously goes to 11.

A noteworthy fact re. 'ground clearance' specs; other manufacturers measure from the ground to the main frame rails and neglect to subtract for differentials/gearboxes/axles hanging down, because their clearance is fixed and part of the unsprung part of the vehicle. The CT has no differentials or straight axles hanging down, it is flat across the bottom. This means the quoted ground clearance for the CT is actually significantly greater than its competitors in that respect.
@mivy24529 ай бұрын
Not a fact. Ground clearance is measured to the lowest flat spot on the vehicle. That is usually the differential. Nobody measures ground clearance by the frame height.

As it is now, I guesstimate that they will lose 20-40% sales compared to what they would have otherwise had long term. You cannot fight the unions here without fighting the population you see. To give a perspective, 80% of the engines with a master are unionized and I believe it is even higher among physicists. FYI My Tesla is the best car I’ve ever had, so you can understand why I am sad that they are acting to lose reputation here). There's no way I can stop for an hour or more at a time (Yeah, there's not going to be gen4 chargers all over for that giant pack anytime soon) that often. I think the insurance is likely to be expensive because a big part of the insurance is covering damage to other vehicles when you hit someone. However if they take into account the effectiveness of crash avoidance systems then it might be cheap. However I doubt that unless it’s Tesla insurance because insurance companies are playing weird games with Tesla cars.

I hope there is some kind of redundancy for the steering if the power dies on the road for whatever reason
@davidbeppler30329 ай бұрын
Nope, the NHTSA do not care about your safety or even the redundancy rules that they adopted in 1980. Tesla can do whatever they want and never get sued or forced to comply with regulations.

There's no redundancy for the display. The simply fails to illuminate and you're dead in the water. You'd think there would be a plug to a tablet.

people like Toyota EVs so much… that Toyota said they will scale back on EV production because they can’t stay competitive in pricing… … what’s not mentioned is they are not approaching EV production with the same vertical integration that they do with their has cars…. meaning - they can’t produce quality - which also helps to reduce costs…

Bottom line is greedflation has increased the cost of trucks 25% in the last 2 years and Cybertruck is the best truck for the value on the market. I predict the vast majority of reservations will be cancelled and that Tesla building only 250k a year will not be enough to satisfy demand.

Tesla parts is still more expensive as the company is relatively new and grows 50 prosent annually. So this from Hertz should not be a surprise . Still driving electric is much cheaper than petrol , thus Hertz still heading for a bigger EV part of their car park as the article also shows . The poor resale value is because of their resent prize cuts , which indeed should give them reasons for buying more Teslas now when the prize are lowered. Time will show .
@davidbeppler30329 ай бұрын
@@bobbybishop5662 You get your news from CNBC but did not read the article? Hertz Global Chief Executive Officer Stephen Scherr said Hertz is still “committed” to buying 100,000 cars from Tesla. So far Hertz has only bought 35k cars from Tesla. That means Hertz is buying 2X more. Plz define slowing down? Hertz wanted them all faster, but Tesla would not sell them faster. No deals. Hertz is annoyed that resale value on the cars they bought has went down, but they are happy with how long the EVs last. As soon as Tesla puts a governor on how zippy the rentals are Hertz will be over the moon from tire savings. Tesla has not intention of adding a governor to Hertz Teslas. I suggest buying a Hertz used 2020 Model 3 with 150k miles on it for less than $24k. It is still good for another 600k miles. :)
