I have a 2021 Camry LE, base model that I bought on sale for $23.5K. This happened after my late wife’s Lexus ES350 at 100K miles lost a water pump and took out the engine. Lexus wanted 12,500 to fix a 7,000 car. At the time I considered the Camry to be the best car in the World, by far, when you make price a key factor. But I also had a chance to compare the Camry performance and drivability against the ES350. The Camry was always very close to the ES350. Its gas mileage was literally twice the Lexus on regular versus premium gas. And the Lexus maintenance costs are staggering. Three years later, I love the Camry and can hardly wait to drive it every day. By the way I bought a Camry station wagon in 1990 and had it for 27 years.

Great video. I am probably going to buy a 2024 Camry. The 2024 Camry is the last year for the conventional 8 speed automatic transmission, which has a torque converter. 2024 is the last year for a Non-Hybrid Camry vehicle. The 2025 will only have a CVT type of transmission and a hybrid drivetrain. I am thinking of the long term outcome of the regular type of transmission verses the CVT type of transmission. CVT transmissions are very expensive to repair if the unit should ever need to be repaired. I really do not want to own a Hybrid vehicle. If I have to purchase a Hybrid it would only be from Toyota. They started assembling / engineering them for sale since 1997.

eCVT, not CVT. Despite the confusing name, hybrid eCVTs have no belts, chains or pulleys. They have drive motors and gearsets. The real question you should ask yourself is if you'd like to buy anywhere between 35% and 50% less gasoline for the same driving?

@rightlanehog31515 ай бұрын
David, The arrival of the AWD Camry Hybrid is overdue. My only concern relates to the supply of Hybrid batteries and powertrain components. For several years Toyota has been having difficulty matching Hybrid supply with demand so let's hope those days are over. 🤞🤞 In regard to the shifter, I cannot understand why Toyota alternates between normal gear levers and Prius-style joysticks, does anyone actually prefer the Prius shifter? 🤔 Finally, your 'micro-preview' of the Crown Signia's drive 0:12 needs to carry a caveat about the negative effects of those ridiculous 21" rims. Once again, I call upon Toyota Canada to offer us the Signia XLE with more reasonable 19" wheels as well as the ultra sensible Camry LE on 16" rims. 🤨

In terms of price, Toyota is overpriced in many of its new reveals, including land cruisers, Tacoma, Lexus gx and probably the new 4Runner. Because these models will sell no matter what. I liked very much that David mentioned that he likes to drive and that he appreciates sporty driving cars. Obviously gas mileage and all wheel drive is a huge plus at this price point. I'm looking for a commuter car with great gas mileage, fun to drive, comfortable, and a flawless fit and finish. Which trim level is recommended because it gets confusing. LE, XLE, XSE, etc. What is the best balance of trim-level or the best bang for your buck when it comes to the improved Camry?

@@sethtenrec Yes, it has the best fuel mileage too due to the smaller tires. I just saw what Car & Driver said about the 2025 Camry: The Camry's starting price is a bit higher than before because of the new hybrid-only lineup, but the base LE is cheaper than the previous-generation hybrid. Of the four models that Toyota will offer at launch, the LE has the highest fuel-economy estimates due to its smaller wheels, but we'd opt for the slightly sportier SE. It has a firmer suspension setup and more standard features, and it offers many of the most desirable add-ons-such as the larger infotainment screen and the more powerful all-wheel-drive powertrain-as optional extras.

@@holgerviel1949 yeah C&D is OK, one of the best of a field of auto journalism sources that are in bed with the manufacturers. Larger infotainment screen means nothing to me, and the few extra horsepower are not going to be enough to make for the extra weight of AWD.

Thanks for the review... There is nothing on the entire 2025 SE that matches the two interior options with white striping/ trim. It's way off the rest of the vehicle. If Toyota really wants to knock it out of the park, they would go with all black and a natural leather color, no striping, and forgo the grey. It is a shame to spend the extra money on XSE and bypass this level just for an all black interior. It really seems all the other trim levels are just a way to separate the LE, and consolidation is overdue. Maybe I will jump back to Prius as the Prius and Corolla Hybrid are able to achieve a much higher average MPG.

Greetings from Australia, could you please elaborate upon the 2024/25 American version of the Toyota Yaris Hybrid Cross, of which I am eagerly awaiting delivery December/ January. Has Toyota committed to an across-the-board betterment on all it's models, on all continents? Thank you so much for your anticipated reply. Cheers 🥂

It's funny that gaps are an important thing now. Never been an issue before Tesla, at least back to the 1970s.

Is this new generation hybrid system reliable?

I’m in the market for a vehicle. I’ve always heard do not get a car in its first year of a new model. Considering the ‘25 Camry basically has the same frame/build as a ‘24 Camry, does this rule of thumb go out the window?

This has a lot of carry over from last gen.The engine is a carry over, but hybrid system is slightly newer and the infotainment center is new.

Surprised you didn’t mention MPG or msrp for the various trims.

This is a major refresh, not redesign. It’s still on first gen TNGA unlike the new prius which is on second gen TNGA.
