Calving season is here and we have a couple calves on the ground. Planter preparations continue as planting is getting close!
Welcome to Farming With Carp. This channel will show you the jobs that we do on our farm in Indiana each day. We are a regenerative organic farm that capitalizes on the uses of cover crops. We raise corn, soybeans, wheat, peas and alfalfa. We also have a growing herd of livestock on the farm that we graze across our acres. Come along for the ride!

It will be interesting to see how the organic in furrow stuff works. Organic corn emerging through a mulch mat is the one thing I’ve never found a fix for. It comes around, that’s the nice thing about corn, when it’s young, it can bounce back.

Yes that’s the reason we want to try to see if the corn can get off to a better start. But time will tell.

Feeding your cows in the afternoon will have 90+% calving during the day. About 4:00 pm is when most guys around here have gone to feeding. It was hard for me to make the change, felt like I was neglecting my duty all day. But it definitely leads to more sleep and more live calves.
