Been intermittent fasting for 5 weeks. Down 11 pounds. I feel great! Also started walking program. Like working out fasted. Have more energy than I ever could have imagined. I just turned 57. Shooting for 50 more pounds. I do a 24 hour fast once a week and 1-2 days a week I do a 20:4. Never eat after 530 pm. Game changer!!! Love your channel! So helpful

Keep it simple. I did an 18 day water fast January 2nd to January 19th, lost 30 lbs. Since then, I've been doing 1 to 2 meals a day Keto/Mediterranean and have lost an additional 15 lbs. I'm 61, 6ft 2, starting weight was 310, now at 265, going for 100lb weight loss by May 1st.

@HeadMistress Doing good. Gained about 10 lbs back by eating "normal", no Keto, no fasting, just bad eating habits. Going to do another prolonged fast and try to stick to healthier eating afterwards. OMAD works well for me, with usually Saturday or Sunday being the day I broaden my window and eat more. I’m at maintenance weight so I don’t need to lose anymore. I fast for autophagy and cell regeneration. I’ll be 41 this year so I am trying to take care of my body better than I did in my 20s and 30s. I wish I had knew this sooner because it’s been a game changer for me!

I did the same. Lost 40 and then nothing for a month. I have started changing it up. I lowered my fasting window for a few days then went back to it. And I vary the times I fast. From 14 to 18 hours most days then made once a week I do just one meal. And go back to my usual schedule. I also do keto. And I have started to add in longer fast. Just did 46 hours. It was much easier than I thought it would be. But you can’t do this all the time. I have now stared losing again. 9 more lbs so far. I think you just have to work with it and find what works for you. And walking really helps me.

Don’t loose the sight on the total calories you eat with the meals. And then there is the 72-hour challenge of only canned sardines. And up your exercises. the 7-Minute Training App by Fitness Guide Inc is a great starting point. All exercises you can do at home without any equipment, just your body weight. Just stick to it. I know it is hard at times. But keto, intermittent fasting, specific full body exercises and also calorie watch and changing them to keep a variety is beneficial to loose weight. I also have once or twice a week a low sugar fruit cake my partner baked himself, or a protein Vanille Pudding (Dr. Oetker in Germany with Blueberries) Yum-my - and the little blood sugar spikes seem to be a good thing for the body/metabolism. I think of it like Homo Sapiens used to eat ten thousands of years ago. Meat and a bit of fruits and berries at times. And of course water, water, water.

OMAD is the only way that I lose weight now being post menopause. If I get hungry at lunch which is rare, I make farm fresh eggs & avacado or sardines & A2 cheese. Even this way of eating didn’t make a change until I added water. 3-4 quarts with pink salt & Apple Cider vinegar.

I’m 53. I lost weight when I not think about ‘when’ to eat. I lost weight when I changed my meal to ‘happy meal but less calories to full my stomach. But burn more calories than intake.’ I eat vegetable miso soup with any kind of meet. Isoflavon to replace estrogen we women lose after menopause, vegetables-vitamins, meet-protein. Snack is sweet potatoes-fiber and cheese-calcium. They are just example. It is also fun to create the food which is good for our body. 40’s and 50’s, women, men, our body system is different. Not eating when we are hungry gives us some stress, that stress makes me not losing weight. Body and mind in balance is leading my life healthier.

Daily IF with a 14 hour fast didn't work for me. I tried it and ended up gaining weight, go figure. Been trying to lose weight for a few years and have just gained. I'm post-menopausal and that doesn't help, it seems, for most people. I'm learning more about 24+ hour fasts and doing one of those a few times a month so start sounds much more possible for me. I'm committing to a 12 hour overnight fast -- that sounds very doable, too. I just discovered your channel and have no idea why you don't have a million subscribers! I hope JJ sees my comment. I need her help. I was on keto last year I ate grass fed beef and cheese and some eggs. Many days I fast min 17-20 hours. My biceps started to feel very soft and lost more muscle in my thighs. It took me 5 months and lost 25 lbs my sister lost 40 in the same time frame , I fasted longer. I was so disappointed in my self I eventually fell off the wagon during the Xmas holidays , now gained all my weight back and more. I tried keto 3 times, always ran into issues which led to the removal of my gallbladder., maybe this is why I had the issues in the first place. Now I need to watch the amount of fat I eat in one sitting., or I am in the washroom within 20-30 mins. Not sure what to do anymore 😔

I can’t consume adequate amounts of protein in my short feeding window, which might be to blame . I’ve tried longer feeding windows for years :16/8 18/6 and lost little weight. I should mention that I have metabolic syndrome ( high cholesterol, HBP, fatty liver , insulin resistance) I am pre diabetic and have been in metformin for 10 years. You might need to do a 36 or even a 72 hour fast. I am 59 and I have done 36 hour fast and 72 hour fast. It is much harder for people over 40's to lose weight. I just watched a video on fasting the other day on fasting for 36 hours and then having an eating window for 12 hours ( which I am sure I can not do eating more than one meal or two a day) I have been doing one meal a day for months now. So eating more than one will seem so odd lol) but back to what I saying about doing a 36 hour fast for autophagy and then 12 hours off and I'm going to keep doing that pattern for 30 days. The video which I can't remember who posted it , it could have been Dr. Mindy Petz. But she said studies found people who did the 36/12 for 30 days. Those people lost 7 pounds or more! So for I have done 21 hours of my first 36 hour fast and looking forward to autophagy and my inside body getting healthier! I am on Facebook Malicia Furnells if you would like to message me there and maybe we can become Keto buddies?

Thanks for your videos. You said to calculate the protein intake per day on your ideal weight. So if you have weight to lose do you still eat the protein on this ideal weight calculation. I was a bit confused by the formula to work out how much protein I should be eating. I am post menopause 58yo, 194lbs, vary my fasting protocols (as per Dr Mindy Pelz) and would like to start my weight loss goal at 182lbs then after that to 172lbs. So based on now and ideal weight what should I do regarding the protein?

I find it very difficult to eat early. I get home from work at 6pm & I'm too tired to cook & eat right away. I always end up eating dinner around 8pm or 9pm. Sometimes that's my only meal of the day because I don't always get a lunch break. So even though I fast 12-16 almost daily I never lose any weight. I'm stuck in the 160s when I should weigh 120. I tried a 36 hr fast and had the worst headache that wouldn't go away even after taking 4 Aleve. How can I prevent that if I fast 36 hrs again?

Water, lots of water. Also try fasting for24 hours first and build up from there. Things like soup you can re-warm easily or having everything precut for a fat salad helps on my intermittent fasting days. I often make a point of eating my first meal, a fat salad around 2-4 pm. Usually I’m still stuffed from that by the time I make the family dinner.

Around 3-4 hours after eating, your body transitions into the early fasting state, which lasts until around 18 hours after eating. Also, the size and composition of your meal affect how long your body remains in the fed state. If your last meal was at 7, your fasting state doesn't start until 10 or 11 pm, then the 16 hr fast should end between 4 and 5 pm.

Does coffee with stevia with 1 T cream break a fast for the autophagy benefits? How about for fat loss? Is it any calories that break a fast, or over a certain amount? Is it different for everyone?
@jjvirginvideos
@jjvirginvideos Жыл бұрын
Hi Krista! There are different schools of thought on what breaks a fast. Some research says keeping it under 50 calories won't break a fast, but others say the only true fasting is staying at zero calories. Experiment and see what feels best for you!

If you are new to fasting try black coffee first, if you are fat adapted then you can add those but I suggest to take your coffee with cream or sugar just about an hour to break your fast. Timing is key.

If you dont like fasting eat metformin, it causes autophagy, mimics the effects of fasting.. but on the other hand, fasting is fun. But especially older people beware of getting too lean if you want to look good. Losing the fat from your face makes you look much older, so its a thin red line, if you dont want to use fillers (ehich can be disastrous and highgly addictive and costly). BTW, age has nothing to do with fat loss... so I dont understand why that is in the title but I guess the maker of the title doesnt know this =) And "the secret key", seriously, living in negative calories is called a secret key today, lol.

Fasting is just a tool. If you fast but still eat more calories then burn in a day you won’t lose weight. Bottom line is eat 500 calories less than you use in a day. Calories in less than calories out is the only way to lose weight. Fasting just helps. Eat 50 - 60% protein , 20-40 % healthy fats 10-20% carbs Find your daily calorie intake. Eat a big Breakfast 2hrs after you wake up , small lunch , no or tiny dinner as long as it’s still light outside. Calories in vs calories out.

Fasting just makes people miserable and I know a few got even sick. I always heard 3 meals a day with moderation no snacks . Last meal 2 hours before bed . Last meal should be light ,fish instead meat . That’s the way I was raised. No one in my family is fat or over weight.

I do 16:8 or somtimes 18:6. Perhaps you could start just lengthening time between last meal in evening and when you eat next morning. Experiment and see what eorks best for you. Good luck
