It's not AI, it's quite a simple process of making cuts in the video based on the waveform audio (who is talking) and simply making the 1 and 0 guess that you want to see whoever is talking on screen. That's like Plural Eyes syncing audio which came out over 10 years and nobody was calling that "A.I". No mention of "A.I" at all on the website either.

They've successfully figured out how to create a *sidechain/gate/choke* effect for video. If you do music production, you know exactly what I'm talking about. But if you're not familiar with music production software, I'll explain it in lay man terms. Basically if you sidechain/gate or put a choke on audio, you're just allowing for one audio to duck another audio source so they don't play at the same time. Like when you hear a dj talking over music, the music volume ducks a little so the voice can be heard, then when he finishes talking, the music goes back to regular volume. So take that technique and apply it not only to audio, but video. So not only are you ducking audio, you're allowing the video to switch to the one that's active when you're talking. Maaaan, i wish i could program, because there's so many other techniques in music production software that i could make available to video as well. IYKYK.

Premiere already have an auto-ducking feature where you can tag audio channels as 'dialogue' 'sfx' 'music' and premiere will auto duck the music channel whenever someone is speaking in voice dialogue channel.
@aaronbazil
@aaronbazil Жыл бұрын
@Thiru N Right, by the brilliant idea was to 'duck' the video as well, but not to music, but other dialogue. That's what this AutoPod app is simply doing. Another brilliant idea, which is coming soon if not already here, is the 360 cameras and having Ai software give you suggested framing and shots, AND cutting between them. AI can already write script and suggest shots through text, BUT the genius idea is to input footage from 360 cameras and letting it suggest the shots and the edit, and WHY.

I don't think we needed to see you say 'yeah' in the middle of his story) then I'm happy to just do the initial work. I'd be interested to see how it develops though, and how it does with mic bleed. Pretty awesome. I don’t edit podcasts, but this type of AI assisted editing is fantastic. Frees up so much time which results in more time spent doing other important things like bigger projects with tight deadlines or even scouting for more clients. Major companies like Adobe and Black Magic Design need to buy these small start ups or design there own versions of this software and implement it natively.

But I don’t think it’s AI per se, more like great programming IF Joe speaks, THEN cut to Joe’s camera, etc etc. it’s a lot like the abiotic Premiere et al can sync audio files and how you can build a comp automatically in AE from a Premiere sequence using dynamic link. Also very much like Automatic Duck did this in the late 90s. Also intelligent Assistance and other scripting extensions from decades ago. BUT it is Way cool for podcasts etc ! There a couple things I don't like about this: 1. If you have a lot of people close together, then you need to mute/unmute mics to avoid phasing issues. It'd be nice if Autopod cut audio as well as video (I guess audio-only podcasts can kick rocks? :) 2. It doesn't actually work on multicams, you need to have each camera on separate tracks. Not ideal for quickly changing shot selection, or minimizing the chance for breaking sync when making other edits.

For my podcast, I have connected 3 microphones to a Rode Rodecaster, which is connected to the Atem Mini Pro ISO. Four cameras are connected to the Atem Mini Pro ISO. As a result, I ultimately have only one audio track. Can the program distinguish between them?

This is cool, but nothing groundbreaking, similar functions have been around for years with other plugins. All it is doing is switching to the camera with louder peaks. I have my doubts AI is involved at all tbh.

This is definitely a huge time saver. Seems like you could easily apply it to any interview scenario. Have you tried it with 3 or 4 people? Thanks for sharing.

something to note you need to capture audio Seprately for each speaker if you have one audio track from a mixing board its not smart enough to separate them

I took it one step further and made a subclip with them side-by-side and got an "extra cam"

Thanks for the demo! The tech is intriguing, but it's got one BIG limitation, in that you HAVE to have unique video and audio tracks for each "camera". Meaning if you use something like Rode Wireless GO mics that merge the audio into one track in your camera, it literally won't work. Hard to understand why, given in your demo it appears to be making all of its cuts on the VIDEO and doing nothing to the audio tracks. No idea why it would have to be so limiting in this specific way.

I'm 50/50, drastically reduces the time it would take to cut through a 45min length podcast episode. Very time efficient (those would be my personal pros). Only downside I'd say is that because your NOT the one who is technically cutting it yourself, you'd have to be sure that using AI as a quick/shortcut way of doing this stuff for you would be a good tool. Id say there's not a 100% guarantee that it would cut it for you the way you intended it to be edited. You would have to go through and check that each cut is what you wanted it to be, not necessarily what AI thinks you would want it to be. $30 a month for a tool like that can and may potentially go a long way in terms of productivity and efficiency. Me personally I would eventually have a go with it as a test trial, if it works the way I would intend it to work for my projects and workflow. Considering I'd obviously go through it and check that each cut is correct and intended the way I want it to be, I would definitely keep it as a side tool. I wouldn't see myself using it all the time for every project, realistically I'd have it on the side ready incase I needed to cut something quickly and have it sent off for approval in the next couple hours. For main/big projects I'd rather edit it all as then I'll know that each cut I made was for a reason and I know how to flow of the project will flow as I was the one who cut it all together. I just personally wouldn't take the risk of AI cutting through main/big projects because I don't know how it'll be cut or what the flow will be. Those would be my main pros and cons for using AI as tool especially for editing.

I'm curious how it's going to edit a multi-cam stage performance like a play, musical or even choir performance. If it could edit a 2 hour show in 10 minutes that would be amazing. Editing the 2 hour show by hand on a multi-cam sequence took two weeks.

Does it only go off of audio for the video cuts or does it have the ability to linger a bit on a person even if they are not speaking?
