Thank you for your excellent description of exactly what is happening to make that specific noise. This is a very common problem with Hyundai, that is happening prematurely at 70k miles on average. Pretty disappointing, but especially for a subsequent purchasor of the vehicle because they will be out of warranty (100k warranty is only for the original purchasor, it's 60k for subsequent owners [ask me how I know...]). This issue and the way Hyundai have handled the matter is why I will never buy another Hyundai. It's hard to imagine this issue not being the subject of a class action.

Everybody talks about cold start rattle, but what about a hot start rattle? I have a 2016 Kia Forte MPI, it never rattles in the morning, or when the engine has been sitting for no matter how long. But when the engine has reached its operating temperature and is used for a while, it rattles on startup after it's been sitting for some minutes (and the engine is still warm). Again, if it sits for long enough so that the engine is not so warm, it doesn't rattle. FYI, I use 5w30 oil.

Hi. Hope u r well. We have a kia picanto and wen we start the car it swings and then our battery dies. Nt sure wer it pulling current frm. Wen it starts it has a tapping sound frm the engen / sumwer. The engen has been fixed so nt sure

I have kia forte 2016 1.8 engine I have the same problem. pink for 1-2 seconds on cold start. but it also has another sound when cold it is heard as a diesel engine for 1 minute after it warms up the noise is eliminated

My G4FC 1.6 also sounds like a diesel when cold, mostly noticeable when letting go of off the gas pedal and at idle. When accelerating, there is basically no noise like that. My mechanic told me, it's normal...

So if those were my symptoms early on and then after what is a constant rattle even on acceleration, does this mean I’ve damaged crankshaft or any other parts it’s still running and idling well but rattling heavily and I change timing chain, tensioners guides etc. because this resolve my problems or is there a good possibility that internal damage has been done more ? Thx

So I just bought a 22 Kona and it started making that sound at 40 miles and the dealership still hasn’t fixed it and says it’s normal but it only makes the sound when I’ve been using auto start stop what could be the cause for mine I’m thinking it’s the starter

*Hello, i have a 2012 hyundai genesis 2.0t coupe. I keep getting code P0014. I switched both vvt solenoids, replaced both camshaft position sensors, replaced exaust camshaft gear sprocket, replaced oil, replaced oil filter, i checked harness/wires/ plugs and everything was good, i checked the timing, timing chain, timing tentioner, and timing guides and everything is PERFECT. With only 119k miles the car runs very smooth. No rough idling, no stalling, starts up good and yet still code P0014 keeps coming up. please help, I've been trying to fix this car up. Please reply. I am using oil 10w40 instead of 5w30 could that the problem?*

This can't happen with a VW golf 5 1.9tdi can it? It's a timing belt car... I'm about to change the hex balance Shaft in the oil pump, have to remove the oil sump then remove circlip then simple swap over of the balance Shaft. I'm a bit worried about the rtv working though, i bought threebond because I heard it was good. It's cold in the UK right now so going to heat up after cleaning the sealing surface and leave for 24hrs to set, please tell me what you think? Thanks for all the great videos you provide.
