Thanka for this video injabe a 2015 chrysler 300s 3.6 and i had no low speed only high. After seeing your video went to the junkyard and grabbed a resistor off a 2011 300. Put it in about an hour ago and now i have my low speed fan back and my car no longer only uses the high speed van to cool the car at 110 degrees. Now it stays nice and level aro8nd 98 to 100 degrees at idle. High speed fan doesnt even come on now. Thanks for your help!🎉

Is the resistor fixed to the radiator fan assembly or to the car body ?
@anthonyalegria7096 Жыл бұрын
@richardj8853 the resistor is directly attached to the black plastic fan shroud. Mine is only visible from the inside part that faces against the radiator. I can see the connection, facing the motor, but with the fan attached to the radiator there is noway to see the resistor. I only found it once the fan shroud was off.

@anthonyalegria7096 thanks for the info, I shall certainly look for it . I've noticed that my car's radiator fan kicks in only for about 4 to 5 seconds ans stops and I find this very unusual. Yes since the condenser is getting hot due to the radiator fan high setting isn't working correctly the a/c won't come on that way it protects your car from overheating hope this helps you can check resistance with voltmeter across from the thermal resistor if it has continuity it's testing good and maybe your coolant temperature sensor might be malfunctioning

Miguel Angel Escobar Lopez The one I was buying was From Auto Zone. I believe it was a Denso Brand. Wel the last time I replaced it they made a big deal cause I kept going and I told them it was their fan resistors. So I got my money back and bought one from Rock Auto. I bought the cheapest one just to test it out and to keep the fan housing since I threw out my old one. Well this cheap fan(cause the resistor comes with the fan already) has lasted me more then the one from auto zone. The bad thing about it is that it shakes when it turns on Low/ medium speed. What I am going to do now is buy a AC Delco one. Bad thing is that it comes with just the fan so You Will need a housing. Dont throw away your old housing. I am hoping that one works flawlessly. These cars suck. Even when I got it off the lot the ax couldn’t keep up with this Texas Heat while parked idling. Best of luck.

Yes. I did understand too. How an resistance can sense and turn on / off the fan. Weird
@tubetime392 жыл бұрын
@@gonzalobrig I think, maybe the resistor is capable of sensing heat. Not sure but guessing. There's a way to check resistor but I can not find any of these videos talking about it. Not sure if I'm using multimeter correctly but I am reading 1 to 5 on one & 1 on the other. Just now got Q answered as to how many ohms & parts store said 48 ohms ( I believe ). I ordered two for my twin fan ( 1 resistor in each ) for Ram Promaster van 3.6L. Hoping this does the trick. May pull temp sensor too since I have stuff cleared out in front. Wish I knew how to release clip on temp sens, I don't want to break it ! Hard to reach it, worse to fix connector. Good luck with yours.
@gonzalobrig2 жыл бұрын
@@tubetime39 no! I have news. I learnt these last year. The cooler fan has 2 speeds. low and high. So in low speed the electricity goes through the resistor and the fan spins slow. Then , at high , a relay commute it to bypass the resistor and the fan is at full speed. The relay is controlled by a thermostat.

My diesel fiesta mk6 fan comes on only when ac is switched on but never comes on when engine hot. Temp guage is stable and always in the middle. No leaks or coolant bubbling. I have fitted new thermostat and new coolant temp sensor. I have now took this part out of the car and looks same as yours but dont know how to test. Genuine replacement is expensive and dont know which aftermarket brand to go for if test fails.
@charritolopez82232 жыл бұрын
If you can look at the number itself on the resistor you can Google it and might find it then have someone solder it where the old one was it'll be more cheaper than a OEM replacement hopes this helps

@@charritolopez8223 Its sorted now. I found these engines have to be running for a long time before the main fan kicks in.
