Great video, helped me immensely! My bottom hose was different, there is a long offset tab that sticks out. The tab must be pushed all the way in, and then the hose pulls right off.

@@jacekp8366 The orange colored "check engine" light lights up. And you will have an error in INPA (or Carly) sayin something like "purge valve". The motor runs without symptoms, though.

oh man! i started having a strong gasoline odor under the hood last winter. it reduced drastically once the weather got warmer, so i was convinced my injectors were leaking. so i ordered new ones and replaced them. gas smell is still there. turns out the purge valve is leaking. man, what a waste of 600 bucks, plus 40 bucks for shipping to japan. at least i replaced the control arms too. car drives much better. didnt know the purge valve could leak without throwing a code.

I hope iI didn’t’ break the bottom hose connector latching ring as it won’t come off as easily as you say. It hasn’t been off in 21 years and part of the outer connector ring that you depress came off the connector.

I had the codes P2401 , P2419,P1429 that pointed towards this Evap Canister being faulty but after rrplacement of the DMTL and characoal canister I still have the codes. The check engine comes back after a drive. Anyone have any help please? But I have a e90 330i 2006

I changed the gas cap also checked the fuse of the DMTL prior to replacing it. Turns out it blew after I replaced it so changed it and my issue was solved .It was the DMTL Thanks
