The toughest part for me was getting the electrical connectors off. Once I mastered that everything went smoothly. Thanks for your excellent instructions. Saved a bunch!

This is easily the best set of videos on basic service for a 2013 Accord LX that I have seen. I appreciate viewing this and the videos on the fluid changes. Thanks for taking time to make and post the videos. Very well done.

NGK/Denso both list on their websites not to use any lubricant or anti-seize on the metal plated spark plugs. If lube or anti-seize is used, you absolutely need to reduce the torque by 20% from dry torque to reduce the chance of stripping the threads in aluminum head or breaking the spark plug. The zinc-chromate shell on NGK/Denso plugs is designed to act as a lubricant as well as anti-seize corrosion prevention. This shell is designed to break away from the spark plug during removal after being cooked in place during the service life of the installed plug. The black oxide plug definitely need anti-seize during install as they do not have this sacrificial zinc shell.

Likely happened off camera, but *highly* recommend using compressed air on each of the spark plug wells BEFORE removing spark plugs. Don't want any debris getting into the engine.

Excellent vid, I would like to add if I may suggest putting some dielectric grease on the spark plug insulator tip where the boot clicks on, to prevent plug arcing and aid in future boot/coil removal 👍🏽

What if u were to mix the coil plugs up..what would happen?
@JohnS-il1dr3 жыл бұрын
You might get misfires because each coil has physically adapted to their respective spark plugs firing characteristics

@chipsawdust5816Ай бұрын
If you were troubleshooting a misfire, the first thing to do would be change a coil on the cylinder that's misfiring (swap it with one next to it, for example), to see if it's the coil or the plug. If the misfire moves with the coil, you have a bad coil. If not, you have a bad plug. You need a decent OBD computer to see this happening on a specific cylinder. Otherwise, electrically there's no difference between them.

Here in Westchester County, New York, the Honda dealerships usually charge $28.00 to $29.00 for each Denso spark plug.

@@Jose-S914 I guess that is why no one goes to the dealer anymore. Here he purchased it from the dealer when he did not have to. Amazon has it for $17 and there are many many substitutes that are a fraction of the cost. I bet they operate the same and due to the ease of replacement can be replaced easily if they wear out quicker. Glad I don't live in Westchester.

In 2024 I just ordered a set of NGKs off Amazon for about $60. That was the cheapest I could find - otherwise up to $30 apiece.
