I really enjoyed this Jeff. 🏁. Sorry about the video. I need to ck this out and rerun. I appreciate the collaboration. Now I saw the filled 4V heads, adjustable valve train. Easy 500 hp. Thanks Jeff, And all the guys that watched it. Appreciate you 🇺🇸👍👍

Thanks for the video. I've enjoyed watching your vids for a while but as soon as I see anything 351C, I'm all over it. We have a 351C 2V in our 70 Mustang that we're building. The 351C is built and hits 475hp. Very cool to hear that Tim runs incredible power on a 2V. I was first bummed that our Mustang didn't have a 4V but after learning more, I'm happy to have the one we have as it's still very desirable. We can't wait to get it back in the car early next year and be one step closer to having it back on the road. Cheers!

Great info. The 351 Cleveland is a great platform for a street rod. With cylinder heads and the right cam, it's hard to make less than 500 hp. It makes my 73 Mach 1 a lot of fun to drive.

As a London subscriber of both channels, this was an awesome episode for me. I'm really getting close to having to make a decision on my Cleveland stroker for my 71 Mach restomod. I'm glad you guys touched on strokers. I went with Trickflow heads only because I had 2 different year open chamber 4v heads. This engine was a mess. Nothing was matched at all. Looks like a 383 in my future or 385. Everyone should go watch his video on oil passage modifications, lots of great info.

Man this video was fantastic, pretty much exactly the type of info I wanted. Jeff/Tim, thanks so much for putting this together, I'm hoping you'll be able to give me some further direction so I can achieve my Cleveland goals. I currently have a 393 Cleveland with closed 4V heads in my 72 Mach1, but when my machine shop built it many years ago, he talked me into using dished pistons to drop the CR to around 9.5:1 resulting in around 420hp. I'm at the point where I want to make some changes and get to the 500-550 range with a very streetable engine, might hit the dragstrip just for fun once or twice a year. I'd like to keep as much of what I already have in order to save cash of course, but add about 100hp. Unfortunately, my crank is cast and not forged and I'm hoping I don't have to change it. Basically, with swapping cam, timing set, pistons and machine work to the heads and valve train, I'm hoping to reach my hp goals.

YES! Awesome video! Whenever I find info that starts with Mustang and/or 351C my ears perk up! I've been a subscriber to Tim's channel for some time now, and I have much respect for him and his desire to share knowledge with us. As you may remember, Jeff, (yea I'm the guy in nc with the '73 Mach 1 351C 2V) I've been tinkering with it, and have gained some seat of the pants performance with the stock engine recurving the distributor and re jetting the carb. It has a 2.75 rear gear with open diff. It's used exclusively for going to cruise ins and some car shows. I've been going back and forth in my mind as to what I want to do with it, as far as performance. Would love to have around 400hp and keep double digit fuel mileage. I have read that a performance cam will not make a ton of difference with the stock 8:1 compression ratio. 4V closed chamber heads are hard to fine these days. Aluminum heads are really pricey. I would like to have the engine rebuilt, but having that done can really get into the $$$. The odometer on the car reads around 104K, and based on what I've seen on the motor I believe it is the original one and has never been into. I know it does need a timing chain, but is not noisy and uses very little oil. So.... I'm still debating on what to go with.

Good video, thanks for posting it. Note - starting in 1972 all Ford 351 Cleveland engines were built with the camshaft retarded, regardless of lift and duration, 2V & 4V alike. the trick back in the day was to swap in a timing chain and gear set for a 1970-1971 351C engine. Doing this would wake up even the 2V engines. (back in the 70s & 80s) Of course nowadays it's best to use a high performance double roller timing chain set.

Loved the video. This is a great one for the books. I appreciate the depth of knowledge and honesty about what works. I was lucky to have owned a Cleveland that had a aluminum holley street dominator intake and the Q-jet w/ mechanical secondaries. I really don't think my dad knew how that engine had been setup before planting in my '68 f100. 3 on the tree and always a blast to drive even with the 2v heads. I've wanted that level of performance for years and haven't found it-although the 2016 mustang gt350r might do it.

Very enjoyable video and, I believe, good to work with other alike KZbinrs. I see this as a growing trend and, for all the right reasons, giving everyone far more exposure. I watch ( or listen) to many shows as I am driving, wrenching or simply attending to chores, at time going back to a video when the subject matter strikes me as something I want or need to see; this video was one of them! I see this trend of collaborating throughout the spectrum of of videos, from Autorestomod to Dave Rubin and everything in between. Clearly this, going forward, is the way in which you and I will get our information; TV, as we know it, is all but dead

Love Clevo’s , got a couple of 4V’s tucked away in the shed, one’s closed chamber, the others an open chamber . Also a pair of Aussie 2V closed chamber heads. Down here in NZ they were what we got to play with back in the 80’s

Very cool Greg…. Mebbe you might have an opinion. I have a Cleveland block that I want to stroke to a 408 and stick it in my 66 fastback with either a 5 or a 6 speed behind it. Planning on tracking it and road rally’s… what do you suggest for the heads? Mine came with the 2v but I’m preferring to go aluminum but what do you think 8 should be looking for in flow on a 408? It came out of my 70 cougar, and I’ve got a 302 I’m sticking in the cougar.

@ big engine for a 66? Be tight between the shock towers and will need some relief on the firewall and tunnel I would imagine. I know the Aussie Falcons had a different Firewall from XW to XY when they moved from the Windsor to the Cleveland block.
love the ported intake part, "You could fit a family of four in there!...and the dog!". This was an awesome video, with great info. I would love to build a Cleveland for something one day, it's my favorite motor. Though maybe the best of both worlds with a Clevor(Windsor bottom end, Cleveland top end). I'm a big fan of the 71-73 Mustang no one likes, so maybe in one of those.

What main Girdle do you use in your Cleveland??? Ya I watch both channels too, Been messing with small block ford for about 40 years now after I switch from big block Dodges. Use to build mexican style Boss motors when Yates was the only on making intakes. Ya those were the good old days. Oh they call the Mexican Style Boss motor, Clever Motors today, and Yates used to sell build sheets to build them.
