@@mindinversions4487 it does I believe. Mine is a 2015 gen 1. I paid the same price as Mike so I don’t think the price changes for the different generations. I can tell you mine took 2 full days and the whole rear under panel has to come off too. It seems a lot for labor but it is what it is lol

@@carlstone880 Dealers can't stop you from getting maintenance done outside of a dealer. You just need to keep all receipts to show you did your oil changes on time in case they try to deny a warranty claim based on you not doing oil changes at a dealer.

Read here in Sweden about a guy who owned a Lamborghini Huracán and he was shocked when the oil change cost 1000 $. So then it must cost the same amount to change the oil in the Audi R8, as they have the same engine.

The last time my Audi was at the dealership I was going to have the right rear strut support for the tailgate replaced on my Avant. For a charge of $140 for one. Fortunately they were out of the part. I purchased a set of two struts on Amazon for $22. Thanks to KZbin it was a simple repair. Found myself an independent shop, will never return to Audi, unless I have a new car that needs warranty work.

I will admit I have never changed oil in an R8 but from what I understand it is a little more complicated than most cars and we have seen him work on his own cars before. I don't think that's the best idea.

Approx.50 fasteners to drop the panels required to get to everything underneath. Think your car has 7 drain plugs to remove the used oil. The oil filter is on top and fairly easy to get to. So it's not an easy car to work on for the most part.

LOL. That is literally easy stuff. Most of us have battery powered tools to remove those fasteners. That would take 5 minutes tops. Then the 7 drain plugs is easy. Will take maybe 45 minutes to drain all the plugs and put the plugs back on. Oil filter can be swapped while the oil is draining. This is an hour and a half job, from the start of putting the car on jackstands, to finish. Easy.

Mike is not that much you guys in USA have so cheap service compare to EU here I pay 350 usd for oil change on a M340 MY2020 which has 7.2 oil capacity and there is nothing special required to drain the old oil whole change takes like 40 mins or so.. and still paying almost the same for you car. Im sure this service like yours in EU will be over 1k usd…

I had to look up this lets go Brian stuff. Looks like some far right Trump loving meme. On the topic of Lyft and Audi, I took my GLS 450 to get some work done and they offered me a Uber home. They were going to have it for 3-4 days and I needed a loaner. After some let's talk to the manager stuff they gave me a loaner but it was obviously a car someone uses because it was fully loaded. Obviously not a loaner. its crazy what's going on in the automotive world.

I understand those who can afford vehicles like this R8, have the money to pay for simple services. They also might not have the time to work on their vehicles themselves, so I understand why they would pay for someone else to do the job. But man, $378 for labor is insane for an oil change! And the entire oil change came out to $477 total, which makes the oil, filter, plugs, and washers only cost $99! That is actually not that much for the materials. A simple YT search will show that an oil change on a V10 R8 does require more time, but its practically the same process as a normal vehicles oil change. It takes more time because there are several oil drainage areas compared to one area on a normal vehicle. Big whoop. Its a simple unscrewing of bolts and draining of oil. Not difficult at all. I would totally do this job myself if I owned one, and MAKE the time for it.
