Apparently Linda Fairstein doesn't like having the truth distorted about her and having her life and reputation ruined. Of course that's exactly what she did to those 5 boys in 1989.

@@phukyew14 - That's still not rape, attempted murder and sexual abuse. They should've been charged with the crimes they did commit and dealt with in an age appropriate manner. My point about Linda Faristein still stands because there was AMPLE information at the time of the convictions to cast reasonable doubt that these boys committed rape.

Henry Drake now people are bashing her over a film they seen. If anything they should of ousted her back in 1989 if they felt she committed an injustice. No, people are gullible and let a series on Netflix convince them that truth is being told. Watch the tape confessions.
@henrydrake8463
@henrydrake8463 5 жыл бұрын
@@jacquelinemcgrathcurtis2787 - I did watch the taped confessions. Those kids were clearly nervous and I strongly believe (in light of all information) that the confessions were coerced. How would they oust her in 1989? She had the law on her side and the general public had not yet been made aware of the flimsy evidence used to convict these boys. While it's true that the Netflix series is a dramatization of what happened and people are emotionally reacting, it makes clear a stark truth: DNA evidence put none of these boys at the scene of the rape. That alone is enough to cast reasonable doubt and Linda Fairstein should have known better.

For example, in the police interviews, some of those described engaging violence are simply described as "the tall black kid", or "the kid with the gold caps"... Ask yourself this: if Korey and Yusef were friends, why do you think Korey placed Yusef at the scene of the rape, and, said 3 times in his interview "Yusef was laughing" as he watched the female jogger being beaten by Steven Lopez... why implicate Yusef in that way? THR News, just a heads up Fairstein was not the lead prosecutor, Robert M. Morgenthau was. Also, no matter the prosecutor, they can't get involved in the investigation of a case (or at least they shouldn't).But, I love what DuVernay said, it's not about her.Its about the tragic story of 5 boys who got caught up into something they never intended to be and getting blamed for something they never did. Its a story about never judging a book by its cover and there are always two sides to everything. The world isn't black and white, it has so many shades of gray that we need to make sure we take time to make clear judgments. Those boys went into that trial with a conviction already made, and that's not how its supposed to be. We need to remember, it's innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around.

And what has an empty apology ever done. What means more to these men is the fact this system is being shown for what it was truly built for. It’s not lost on them lost that the woman sitting right across from them, just like half of America, once believed they were guilty. Oprah is not a regular person with a daytime job like Gale. She is in a position of power, money and influence. She used all three of those resources and more to help bring a very badly needed attention to this situation. And if it is good enough for the these men that they say down with her, who are you to question it. Have you never done anything wrong or wanted to make amends to people
