I don't understand how this movie still looks so good. Even in 2020 I can't think of any CGI that looks better off the top of my head. The colors are incredible. and you are right, it makes up for any stock characters or derivative story components. James Cameron literally makes new technology almost every time he makes a movie. He is a beast and is truly in his own league.

The War of the Worlds 2005 adaptation was a lackluster for its taste. The pacing were too rush and the acting ain't very realistic. It didn't give the feeling of dread and hopelessness in facing the extraterrestrials that wanted nothing more to wipeout mankind. The days timeline doesn't match up as well in this adaptation since from the original concept, it taken a long time for the aliens to succumbed to death from the Earth's microorganism.

I love this movie! My parents and I compared the Navi to the Native Americans, I'm half Native American on my mother's side, and noticed how the white settlers were destroying their homes and try to wipe them out, until they learn to fight back. You also notice greedy corporations come and try to destroy something they could never understand. It's "Star Wars meets Dances With Wolves."

I’m half Choctaw, and that connection still makes me tear up a little when the home tree gets destroyed. You may say some where underutilized, but if they were to truly flesh everything out in the first movie it would take at least 3 movies. To flesh out everything they tried their best to cover in the first move. Wish we could get a 3-5 novel version of the movie telling everything and fleshing out the entire universe that AVATAR takes place in.

When a Canadian goes to Hollywood and makes it easier for the public to understand indigenous rights. He met with tribes around Canada and America. He even got the idea of the gathering of tribes in the movie, From real life when the biggest gathering is held. The gathering of nations, A’ho that is a sight. You got tribes from the arctic to the tribes of the southern Mexico, most years we get tribes from South America doing an awesome trip and representing there tribe. Back in the days before the Europeans landed there used to be a gathering held by the Aztecs/Mayans that would get people from both continents. Since than there is an World indigenous games. They start of doing a POW-WOW or a gathering that is custom to the host county/land it is held on. Bravo to you James Cameron. You recreated that moment on film and presented it to the world.

Great "documentary" on Avatar. I was 18 when it came, and me and my mom were so blown away by it, that one week after seeing it, on New Year's Eve, we took the car and drove 100 kilometers to the nearest 3D movie theater, to see it again, in 3D. I don't get the haters who spent much of the last ten years laughing at Avatar. The only weakness of this film is its story, and while I tend to find that a pretty glaring weakness, Avatar has so much more that holds it up, that it's still a 9/10, and it definitely deserved all that revenue. I sincerely hope they polish the story and characters a little more in 2 and 3, so we can get 4 and 5. The Way of Water is the first film I'm excited about in probably 4-7 years, since just about every other big franchise messed up seemingly on purpose. Cameron is one who I absolutely trust not to subvert his story and world for cheap political points. He's there to show a world and tell a story and that's it.
