This game has some of the best graphics released. In 4k maxed out its like you are playing a movie. The foliage is unreal looking.. sometimes i just walk around the game and shake my head thinking about how far games and tech have advanced...

Oh yeah totally. The unobtanium preset takes it to the max although Ultra even High still look amazing. Definitely one of the best looking worlds.

very different than what i was expecting but it looks and runs amazing. The vegetation is arguably the most impressive thing about next gen graphic for me, it takes immersion into another level. Loved the intro btw, sapphire nitro is so aesthetic and your presentation keeps getting better. Clarity of speech and youre able to express yourself so much more freely now. Great video as always, keep it coming 🙂

I haven't had a lot of time to dig into Avatar too much but do like what I have seen so far which is in the beginning part of the game. I'll carry my playthrough to my other cards and see how it all works.

@@wblebon No. 4K is GPU bound on the 7900XTX and RTX 4090, even with DLSS/FSR Quality from what I have tested. 4K is pretty much always GPU bound with these new demanding games unless you're using a pretty old CPU

@@wblebon It depends on your hardware I guess. I just uploaded my 4090 look of the game and I was able to reach 140 fps with FSR set to quality and frame generation on on my 4K oled tv which only goes to 120fps anyway. I primarily play on a 175hz alienware ultrawide though and with DLSS set to quality everything ultra am getting aroudn 130 fps. Its how I am playing it. You can tweak the settings but 4K will be very gpu dependent

This game does look remarkably good! It seems to run exquisitely which is sooooo nice to see. I just wish it was a game I was interested in playing. I genuinely hope that this development team stays together and makes a bunch of mind blowing games in the future. Props to Ubisoft!!!

It looks so nice. I'm also having fun with it. It's like a Farcry/Ghost Recon type of game but Avatar themed. I'll be checking out co-op which these games can be a lot more fun in co-op

Yea I'm impressed at how good this looks, it looks buttery smooth and they seem to have really worked on the tech compared to the demo we got, personally through KZbin at least I couldn't notice any artifacting, shimmering etc. that you get with FSR 2 or the FSR 3 demo from Forspoken / Aveum. Hopefully it becomes open source soon enough so that we can get access to it in many games. Also major props to Ubisoft for making this game run so well, this is pretty much worst case scenario for a next gen title, vast and detailed vegetation + RT (it's rt right?). Very well done. I don't know if the game is fun but I can tell that the team who worked on it really gave it their best so for that alone, bravo.

Yeah it does have ray tracing, hardware and software for older cards. FSR 3 Super Resolution and Frame Generation are both very good in this game. I only ran into an issue when setting the game to Fullscreen from borderless where it doesn't feel like it syncs properly whereas in Borderless it works perfectly but will only go as high as your display's refresh rate which is fine.

Thank you for detailed benchmarks on this card. One question tho. Could you in the future test encoder performance for av1 on XTX and 4080? I would love to get XTX but I cant find detailed examples of its encoder potential.

I managed to run this on Unobtanium settings at an average of around 70 fps with frame gen. It actually feels pretty good.

I thought this game was a really stupid one for AMD to sponsor, because it uses fairly heavy RT effects and it's full of foliage, which is a huge pain point for FSR. The fact that they got it looking reasonably close to DLSS quality is crazy, and the fact it's semi-close to 4080 performance-wise is even crazier to me. A huge testament to Ubisoft Massive's tech team. Those people know what they're doing, it seems. Pretty confident in Star Wars Outlaws at this point. In my limited experience with FSR in games that don't support DLSS, I've always found it totally reasonable at 4k, and sometimes even really good. Until they added DLSS to Jedi Survivor, I used FSR and had no complaints. Switching between the settings after they added DLSS and really focusing on image clarity in motion, DLSS is definitely an improvement, but I played the entire game using FSR at launch and it didn't feel like a degraded experience at all (well, it did, but that was because it crashed every half hour, not because of image quality). Given that both Survivor and Avatar are AMD sponsored games, I'm starting to understand why these companies are willing to shell out the cash lol. That extra incentive to optimize really does seem to make a huge difference. Compare this implementation of FSR to the one in Alan Wake (Nvidia sponsored), and it's a stark difference even at a res like 4k where the gap between DLSS and FSR is smaller than it is at lower resolutions. The console versions are an even better example, the image quality in Avatar is significantly better than it is in Alan Wake 2, despite both having near-identical internal resolutions (~1280p during normal gameplay). I think the near-universally high quality of DLSS makes it a far better upscaling technology, but I am always a little bit disappointed for people on AMD gpu's when a game like this comes out and shows what a little TLC can do for FSR. And the same goes for RT performance. You could actually run this game with all the RT effects enabled on a mid range AMD gpu (if you're reasonable about resolution targets). That's pretty rare, and it's cool.

Thanks, you the 5800X 3D is faster than my 5900X, you'll be fine. I'm uploading an RTX 4090 video as we speak and compare it to the 7900XTX it seems AMD uses a bit more vram than Nvidia which is a common thing but seems to be around 2 to 3GB more. Still vram use is high in this game. I cant wait to look at my RTX 3080Ti with 12GB vram and see what happens.

I think the black level floor is a bit too high, especially when enabling HDR. As for the colors that I guess depends on the type of display you are using and personal preferences I guess. On an OLED display the colors look great to me, unfortunately they arent as enhanced in HDR as they should be but still.

Make sure to test this game on your 4090 too. It's so much faster than the 7900 XTX in it.

I will. Havent put them side by side but did see a side by side benchmark comparison from Bang4BuckPC Gamer. Seems Nvidia has quite a bit of a lead in this game based on that.

Have you seen the price of 4090s? They are all $2200 or more, thats over double the price of the 7900XTX, is the 4090 double the performance of a 7900XTX? no like 25%. Compare the 7900XTX to the 4080, which is still $200-400 more. My point is I wish people would stop comparing products in different price points, its dumb.

My overclocked 7900XTX is around the same FPS as a 4090 on Ultra and Unobtainium presets, maybe a little more on the Ultra preset. If you don't believe me look at my channel for the windows versions (the linux versions have lower FPS anyway because cant use frame gen).

You know, graphics are fine and all, but I don't think visuals matter as much as gameplay and story, which if someone doesn't like Avatar which stole the story concepts and has cringe furry blue people that are obviously CG pretending to look realistic, well I don't know how that translates into playing the game. It better be really good to cover the negatives of the IP. Also, many people don't care anymore to use secondary launcher accounts, so if it's not drm free or steam, it's not going to get purchased either for that reason.

Ya fact that its not on Steam sucks because I wanted to check it out on the Deck as well but the story so far is nothing special that's grabbing me. I just like exploring the world, getting stronger and fighting enemies. Some good old mindless fun imo.
