Agreed, but if they tightened up the plot juuuust a bit, it would be undeniable. I feel the shortcomings are more than made up for with the spectacle for me personally, but there are issues that I can concede. For one, whale juice? Why do they need a new rescource? Unless it serves some broader purpose in later films, the humans could have just had the same rescource motivation from the first film. The naval strike force could have just been hunting Jake effing up the environment just because the whales are linked to the new tribe. The only thing you lose is an excuse to show the inside of a dead whaleish animal. Either cut it or build up that angle. But, in totality, the film is stunning and there's no other way to put it.
@woodonfire7406 Жыл бұрын
@@johnohrstrom5112 yeah, the brain juice from the tokuns (however the heck you spell them) threw a loophole to me I thought the whole point of the RDA's brand new colonising efforts was to establish a brand new settlement to sustain a large population of humans that they'll be arriving from a dying planet, not another profit making from a so-called “most important substance" They only said the whale Juice stops human aging. That's it. Personally, I can't wait for the directors cut to come out but this was well worth the wait. I have no doubt Avatar will do what it needs to do over Christmas weekend and beyond. I saw it yesterday and I've got two more showings booked this week. I'll be booking more showings during and after Christmas as well. I'm positive others will also go out of their way to see and experience this movie in 3D. I got chills watching it. It was such a visceral and emotional experience. My only disappointment/complaint is that we won't get the movie that happens in between the two. Those have been adopted into graphic novels. Unfortunately, those graphic novels just don't do that story justice. I want the movie when Jake and Ney'tiri are starting their family and developing their love. Thats the season of my life I'm in and its the movie I need in my life right now.

Quaritch will become the bridge in revealing how RDA is responsible for Earth dying causing a coup (SciOps and SecOps) to rise within the RDA. 3. Avatar 3 "The Seed Bearer" will focus on the seed of doubt being planted in RDA as the humans in Pandora will learn of RDA's crimes against humanity. 4. Avatar 4 "Tulkan Rider" will focus a lot on Lo'ak and the Metkayina Clan. 5. The idea of parallel incarnation with Quaritch that you pitch here is interesting. Even just what goes on in this movie is I think indirectly (or maybe it was even purposeful) influenced by the Alita manga. Multiple versions of one soul or personality existing at once, then branching off and becoming their own people is in this movie and the Alita. It would be a shame if the recom Quatrich we got in Avatar 2 stays evil and they don't mine what's clearly being set up in this sequel, that he's beginning to question everything

I saw it this morning in 3D, the 3+ hours just flew by, just brilliant, the only thing I'd change is to excise all the bits with the humans, when I was watching the scenes with the Navvi it was entrancing, kinda like watching a nature documentary, if they'd chucked in a bit of David Attenborough commentary, and just made a film about Jake and his family , I could have watched it for hours, I never felt that I was watching CGI, the plots involving the humans were just jarring and unnecessary, but I guess some folks need their Pew-Pew

Despite the shallowness of the characters, the story was not bad, the visual effects though are really something only James Cameron could do. The emotions shown in the movie really are touching though which I'm a big fan of. Almost.. almost had me tearing up at the end, looking forward to watching this again.

Hate to say it but it's Colonel Quaritch... not Quatritch. Other than that, love your breakdown and theories. The film was incredible, not only in terms of visual effects, the cinematography is just beautiful and although I can't remember their names, Cameron really made me feel for Jake Sully's kids, the ending hit so hard. Never felt like over 3 hours long and I was dubious as to whether they could match the first film, but for me, they absolutely did!

When the big whale guy came and belly flopped the boat and saved the son that he bonded with, I got shivers, was such a cool scene. And then later when the whale was dodging all the harpoons and then tied the boat up and I presume killed the hunter . That was also an amazing scene. And was a good way to show that these whales are super intelligent, like the marine biologist said.

Questions I have after seeing it: Did that guy's hand just come off? What's the point in killing Stephen Lang, or letting him live? Can't they just clone him to the infinity (that could be the plot of the next one though) Lang always had multiple of kids captured, he surely likes talking about killing them and how he'll do it, at any point in the movie. Why didn't he just shoot one, it would make it clear to Jake that he has to surrender or that will happen to the other one too Why did Lang even go against Jake (I'm not sure how Jake's actor is called, and how Lang's character is called, so I'm mixing the name). Just for revenge, why did they approve of that? If that's the only squad that can attack and beat forest clan wouldn't they be ordered to do that? There is no scene of him going rogue
@alikarol3 Жыл бұрын
They are going after Jake because he is the leader of the Navi now, Toruk Makto. And he is helping the Navi fight back. The humans just want to get the invasion over with. Jake is in the way. So it's way more then just revenge.

Plot holes. Jake and Nitrii didn't learn to dive and swim as well as their children. When Jake killed quatrichs banshee he just disappeared and stopped fighting him and let quatrich swim back to the sinking rig. And the most frustrating part was not building on kiris crazy spirit journey, like grace got vaporized and then they don't address it again, probably waiting for the other movies. But imo this movie was amazing
