I have an old friend that i grew up with, and we first heard this album when i was 12 and he was 10. As the years have passed, we are no longer friends. This song makes me want to reach out to him from time to time, but its really best left in the past. Just sharing my personal connection to this song

I hope you get the chance to read this and apologies in advanced if it gets lengthy. But I just had to address a few comments you’ve made listening to A7X that made me go like and subscribe. I’m digging your reactions because you get it, A7X aside, you get just music in general and I appreciate that in a reactor. I was 12, practicing with a few friends to play “wipeout” for our 8th grade talent show when me buddy burned me a copy of his “waking the fallen” album and I’ve been fucking hooked ever since. See, my parents had me at 16 so they were all about the 80’s and I grew up with music like Metallica/Motely Crue/etc. But unfortunately I was growing up in an era when you bought an album for 1 or 2 songs and the rest was “filler”. And hearing you say “man I thought this was going to be a filler song” made me go back to hearing them for the first time again lol. One thing you’ll learn is A7X doesn’t make filler music, anything they put out is pure quality. And I don’t even mean that as in just a “good song”. I mean that whether you like the song or not they put a lot of work into and I’m happy to see you recognize that. Those guys work hard and put their heart and soul into it. Even if you don’t like the music (it’s not for everyone), you can’t deny they are absolute masters of the craft. The key changes, time changes, arrangements, changing the chorus/verses/etc throughout the song. They do things they say shouldn’t be done in music, but yet it works. They have single songs that would be some bands entire album lol. They hold a special place to me because they were my “Metallica”. Having grown up in an era where bands were putting out one hit wonders and disappearing while my parents had bands that stood the rest of time, A7X was a breath of fresh air. Anyways, if you made it this far into my fanboy rant I appreciate man lol. But for what it’s worth, their first album “sounding the seventh trumpet” is worth listening to, but probably not reacting to. It’s not the A7X lineup you know from Waking the fallen and on. The entire waking the fallen album is worth listening and reacting to, so is everything from then on lol. That’s another point I need to point out, you keep saying “oh this is definitely my favorite song”. Yea, that happens with every song lol. Even after 20 years I listen to a random one and go “oh this is definitely my favorite”. But then the next song comes on and I go “oh wait, no this is my favorite”. Rinse and repeat. Keep doing you man, I’m loving the reactions and patiently waiting for the next!

I just discovered this song and remenissions a week ago. It hit me today why the called it remenissions. I was loving the riff at 40seconds but I noticed they didn’t play it again in the song. Then I realized that entire song is composed of riffs that aren’t reused. Hence the name because I was like man I wish they played that riff again 😂

With most bands starting with the 1st album makes sense, with Avenged Sevenfold it’s a grey area, some people like it, but I’d say most fans don’t care for it much, it’s raw and heavy, but not structured well, which the band actually admitted, the 2nd album is where it started to get better, then got even better with later albums, so fans cling to this album, I’d say start with this album and go from there, then you can go back to the first one.
