Sam has that moral code that Steve did so he deserves it. Bucky and Steve did have a conversation. The reason no one else knew about Steve staying was cause they'd stopped him. Bucky wanted him to go.

Yeah, even though Bucky was brainwashed and is now reformed, he was still an assassin who killed many, many people for decades. Though it was against his will, that's still so much dirty baggage that people may never be able to forgive when it comes to someone being Captain America and being that kind of symbol of heroism and valor. But Sam doesn't have that baggage, yet there are other issues regarding Sam having the the shield that do get addressed in the show The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

I think Bucky has too much “red” in his ledger as the Winter Soldier to be Captain America. Captain America serves as a certain kind of symbol to people, and I just don’t think Bucky fits that symbol. I don’t think BUCKY even thinks he fits that mold. Sam, on the other hand, has spent his life serving his country and then helping other veterans through their own traumas. In that way, he has the heart and history of good doing to be Captain America. So while it’s easier to imagine Bucky as Captain America, because he’s Steve’s best friend, Steve probably knows that’s not what Bucky wants, and that Sam had the character to keep the legacy going.

Exactly. While Falcon and the Winter Soldier had a lot of problems the best parts of it involved the legacy of Captain America and how Sam fits into that towering role. The character building for both himself and Bucky was very well done, and if the conflict involving the Flag Smashers was cut out of the show entirely it would be much stronger and probably better received.
@NateL19922 жыл бұрын
I had an issue with Bucky not being the new Captain America at first, but Falcon and the Winter Soldier showed me he's ready and Bucky isn't. The "red" you're talking about is dived into in that show pretty decently and its obvious Bucky isn't ready for the mantle. That being said, you worded the reasoning pretty well and to that I say good job!
@sproutyoon61282 жыл бұрын
I agree heavily !!! I know that I was confused at first, but after thinking about everything Bucky has been through and also watching Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it makes sense. I think Bucky himself knows that he can't take up the Cap mantle, either because he's got too much red on his ledger or because it's so much pressure. Bucky needs to be able to find himself and gain his grounding (not to mention deal with his own issues and PTSD before taking on another thing. man has been through ENOUGH LMFAO) before he can take on the huge responsibility of being Captain America, and Sam is perfect for the role. I feel like a lot of people get angry about Sam being the new Cap but forget that in order for Steve to give up the shield, him and Bucky would've had a LONG conversation on what to do with it after Steve passes. Bucky knows that Sam will be able to handle the role perfectly and make everyone and Steve proud.

@IamnotJohnFord2 жыл бұрын
Time travel works differently in the Marvel universe than some other movies and TV shows. It's a multiverse. If you change the past all you're doing is creating a new timeline. There are infinite timelines. So, if they killed Thanos in the past, they would only create a timeline where Thanos dies and he never gets the stones. Their original timeline doesn't change one bit. You could stay in the new timeline, but your original world is still half dead. So, you don't galavant thru time creating butterfly effects, you just create new separate futures. Captain America's job was to put each stone back mere moments from when they borrowed them. So, no alternate timelines if he does it correctly. Loki is still alive , in a sense, because he's other. I won't say more because I don't know if everyone has watched his series on Disney. They tied everything up pretty nicely. Falcon was a far better choice for the new Captain America than Bucky. Bucky has way too much baggage. He was a brainwashed assassin for a number of years. He almost caused a war Wakanda. That psychological programming is still in his head. So, he could run amuck yet again. Nebula wasn't operating right when she was electronically tied to the other Nebula. She did what she could. Tony and Bruce were supposed to snap. No one else was smart enough or strong enough to do precisely what needed to be done. Heimdall sacrificed himself to make sure Banner/Hulk lived and made it back to Earth. Dr. Strange also sacrificed himself to make sure Tony Stark was spared. Both of the people that could see into possible futures died to make sure those two lived. Hulk's body allowed Banner to not immediately die. And, Tony likely altered his suit to protect him from much of the radiation and other harmful effects of the stones. I think Tony knew it might come down to him. And, despite his usual I don't care demeanor, Tony works extremely hard. He'd have a suit that would offer some protection for a Hail Mary pass with the stones.

Steve says “you’re a good man, Sam” just before he gets on the platform to return the stones. That’s what the doctor told Steve before he took the serum. The mantle of Captain America isn’t about a serum, it’s about being a good man. Bucky would NEVER take the shield. He has way too much trauma and he himself doesn’t seem himself as a good man at this point.
@mieroth2 жыл бұрын
Yet Sam gave away the shield right away while Bucky fought to keep it. You know why? Because Bucky has a far greater history with Steve than Sam does, so the shield means something more personal to him. There is a reason Bucky's run as Captain America in the comics is so beloved, and you arguing it "doesn't make sense" in the MCU doesn't make sense considering it made perfect sense in the comics where he has the exact same backstory. It's why his run as Cap is so interesting, because he's struggling to live up to Steve's legacy after his death in order to honor him, and eventually succeeds in becoming his own unique version of Captain America realising he doesn't need to BE Steve to do so.

Time travel here was explained. But it's hard to apply real-world physics to something that's impossible in real-world physics. So you go by hyper theoretical/esoteric physics. Captain Marvel isn't "forced". The Infinity Saga is a comic book version of a crossover event. (That being based off the Infinity Gauntlet) All the title characters appear in the big event. It's not about the serum or his powers. It's about the person. You can't give the shield to a fractured minded former terrorist. Steve was a "good man". Sam is a "good man". That's what the Shield is about. The Falcon and Winter Soldier goes further into that.

@hali_552 жыл бұрын
The time travel stuff is quite easy to understand if you rewatch the scenes where it’s explained in the movie. Changing the past doesn’t alter the current timeline. It simply creates a new branch (timeline) starting from where the change occurred. E.g, I go back in time and stop myself from eating a whole cake. That doesn’t mean I haven’t eaten the cake, it just creates a new timeline where there’s a version of me who never ate a whole cake.
@MoMoMyPup102 жыл бұрын
According to Bruce that's false. He said "your former present becomes your past", so whatever you already did is still your past. And "if you travel to the past, that past becomes your future". There is no alternate timeline -- you're creating a new future in the past when you get there. Even if you didn't 'eat the cake' in your new future, you still ate it in your past.

also , nothing changed in the past. whatever they did was undone the moment they returned the stones. ancient one explained it very well. at the moment one stone goes away in that timeline , another timeline is created. BUT because steve returned the stones at the same time they took it , as banner says, that timeline never branched so the past goes normal . Loki escaping is explained in Loki the series. Time travel is hard to do because of the implications and plot holes but they did a very good job setting rules. thats why nebula didnt die when she shot herself , because changing the past doesnt change the future. One plot hole that excist , is the "one shot or nothing" because Pym was out. Scott could go back in time when he was working with Pym before thanos and takes as many pym particles they need so they could have alternatives , or some one could stay back , just in case . but that is a thing with most movies , always there is a thin that could be done . i dont mind it thought because after seeing it in cinema , i was with great feelings and happy and joy and sadness and loved it.

The movie needed some deaths (I'm still pissed that no one died when Thanos' ship blew up the whole Avengers building) and it was the better choice. And it's not our fault they didn't make a trilogy about Black Widow, which could've been so fuckin cool and be a spy thriller trilogy like Cap's trilogy, but they didn't. Yeah, it would've been cool if she was still around but Yelena is also cool and I love the actress, and I also thought they were gonna even kill Thor too, but they only did two of them. Changing things in the past does not change your present or future, it just creates different timelines. So the original mcu timeline is the same that is why they could not go back and kill thanos as a baby, it would not change their time line it would only create a new one. So for example, Cap saying hail hydra created a new timeline so the events of the winter soldier movie would not happen in that timeline but it would still have happened in the original timeline. Another example, when they killed past nebula, that would change the past timeline, but it would not change the present timeline so the present nebula would not die it would only create a new timeline.

The majority of the elements you are 'nit picking' about are new story lines that bring us into the next phase. You do need to watch the shows, because they deal with a lot of these issues. Also, the major plot point of the movie is for the Avengers to fight Thanos together and win. Something that didn't happen in Infinity War because they were separated. If Nebula had gotten away, the rest of the movie would have been pretty dull.

Hi guys, I'm sure other people have commented this before, but this type of time travel is different than most. So when you go back and change the past, even in a dramatic way, it does not change your present or future. What it does is that it changes the future of that timeline you traveled back to, but not your own. So the definitely did affect the future, just not their future

If I remember correctly the biggest issue people had was with Cap staying back because people thought that he had messed up the timeline then. It was so much of a problem that the Russo Brothers and some of the script writers actually came out and made statements about how the timeline worked. No one that I knew really had a problem with Sam being given the shield. This may have something to do with Sam already being a beloved Cap in the comics for awhile now and my circle of people are primarily comic readers. It makes sense too in the MCU world because Bucky is only known as a fugitive who blew up the UN and a Hydra assassin for the last 70-ish years so for him to take up the Captain America mantle would cause a lot of problems. I hope you guys will react to the shows also, as I think the Falcon and the Winter soldier series goes into more detail on the meaning of the shield and why Steve made the choice he did. Besides the fact that the shows are in general pretty great and allow you to have more time with some of the characters that you don’t get to spend a lot of movie time with.

God, I love Sam. From the beginning, Sam saw something in Cap that was hurting him. He only wanted to help a veteran/serviceman. It was only went circumstances presented themselves, in which he knew he could be an asset, that he gave his "resume." From the time Cap and Nat showed up at Sam's place, he was all in. Even when Cap told him he'd gotten out for a good reason Sam's response was, "Dude, Captain America needs my help. There is no better reason to get back in." He's been right with Cap since doing everything he does...just a little slower. Captain America Sam Wilson rocks.
@Jacoc3232 жыл бұрын
I won't say too much about Falcon and Winter Solider cause I assume you'll react to the show in the future, just going to say you guys and others have been focusing to much on Cap's physical traits as aposed to his personal traits which is why he was selected to get the serum in the first place. I love Bucky but you guys didn't even factor in the fact he's spent the majority of time as the winter solider one of if not the most feared assassins in the MCU world(Not out of choice but the fact remains) he only been in control of himself for 2 movies and between his appearances in them got snapped out of exist for 5 years, I'd say he's got far too much truama to deal and I believe Steve understood that better than any could at that moment. Bucky being friends with Steve longer isn't an argument for Steve to pass the torch to him. You can say Sam hasn't done anything to earn it I disagree that's just opinion tho but putting that aside by that logic you could say Steve done even less to be given the Captain America title if you go back to the first Avenger. On Nebula trying to alert them that Thanos knew about the plan, if she had used the pym particle and gone back to present day all that would mean she's back in the present day I'm not exactly sure how the communication works in relation to the time travel I've just assumed it only works if it's the same time so Cap, Tony, Scott and Bruce could communicate with each other cause it was 2012 and Nat, Clint, Rhodes and Nebula could communicate with each other cause it was 2014, I'm not sure if the ones who was in present day could talk to the ones still in the past cause I don't remember anyone from different years talking to each other at any point in the movie🤷🏿♂️ In hindsight you can say it was a nice easy decision for Nebula but from her perspective based on my understanding she's trying to warn Nat and Clint about Thanos cause at that point the only threat he poses to the future is if he can stop them getting the soul stone. This is based on the assumption Nebula thought she'd have more time before Thanos was able to reach her🤷🏿♂️

Very well spoken. I thought it was weird that they said the audience’s biggest problem with the film was Falcon getting the shield when that was not the case for anyone I knew who watched it. (Most of my circle are comic book fans so that may skew my perception some since in the comics Sam is a beloved Cap and has been for awhile). From what I remember, the biggest issue people had was the time travel thing. I remember there being debates all over about whether Cap messed up the timeline or not by staying in the past. So much so the Russo brothers and some of the script writers made statements about it.
@Jacoc3232 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was initially fine with the time travel aspect just because they made a point of saying them changing events in other timelines don't affect ours. My main issue is with Steve traveling back, only way I could make sense of Steve being old is he went back and spent roughly 60 plus years with Peggy and returned to our timeline when the Steve of that timeline was out the ice and woken up, that would sort of explain the aging I can live with that. I was however very much curious as to how much Steve could have potentially affect the old timeline. In order for him not to drastically affect that timeline he would of had to completely restrain himself from getting involved in a few events that I personally struggle to see him not getting involved in. Far as I'm aware they wasn't specific about what year he's wen back to let's assume he went back to Peggy after her and Howard helped found Shield, could Steve avoid letting her know about Zola and Hydra infiltrating Shield baring in mind they had Bucky? I don't believe he could and if he rescued Bucky that would have an affect on Tony. If there's no Winter Soldier that means Tony's parents aren't assassinated, if Tony isn't the owner of Stark Industries does Obadiah supplying the ten rings? Does he try to kill Tony? Those factors combined with Tony feeling guilty about the company he owned supplying the ten rings is what shaped Tony into Iron Man and ultimately down the line become a hero. Does Steve inadvertently take Iron Man out of that timeline and effectively any characters that get introduced due to his involvement in the MCU such as Falcon, Wanda, Vision and Spider-Man? Thanos also succeeds in his mission without Iron Man, Unless Strange can find a way of preventing Thanos armed with the other 5 stones from getting the time stone🤔Did Steve inadvertently doom half of the universe in that timeline just to be back with Peggy🤔these are the questions I'm left with just because of the last bit of this movie🤣
@Tooba-K1232 жыл бұрын
@@Jacoc323 I think Steve went back in time in the original timeline but he just avoids any type of confrontation with team cause he knows if he does then the timeline would be screwed. So far we know that Peggy’s husband was low-key and didn’t even have a name so it’s really possible that her husband has been Steve all along. Sad part is, if it’s true then he didn’t even get a chance to be part of her funeral as her husband cause he knows original Steve would be there and how events are gonna fold from that point onwards with Winter Soldier and Sokovia accords.

You guys are making the exact mistake Bruce told Rhody to not make, that is using Back to the future to explain time travel 😂 So, basically, if you go to the past and change something important, that will create a new parallel timeline (ex. 2012-Hulk messed up the plan, Tony lost the tesseract, Loki noticed it and took it to escape…. aaaand from this mistake “Loki” the tv show is created, but of course this is not our Loki anymore, it’s a new “variant” and 2012 has basically split, like the Sorcerer supreme explained to Bruce, creating a new parallel version of the world we already knew)…. So as for Nebula, present-Nebula killed her, but the latter was already another Nebula, because from the moment our Nebula was captured and 2014 Thanos & Co. travelled to 2023, the 2014 we witnessed in this movie had become a new parallel version of the 2014 we knew from previous movies. So, for example, if you go back in time and kill yourself, you create a parallel reality where, from that moment on you are dead, but the YOU who committed the crime can return to the present and continue it’s own existence like nothing happened. Hope everything is clear now 😅
@Parallaxus2 жыл бұрын
That still doesn't clear everything up though, bc if it works that way, then how did Cap go to a different timeline, but then live his life and just show up at the right place and time in our timeline. Hulks explanation says one thing, but events show another.
@giuliacheney2 жыл бұрын
@@Parallaxus I had that doubt too, but I think that since the “new” Thanos from 2014-parallel universe managed to arrive to our 2023 timeline, using the Pym particles in the quantum realm maybe means that not only you travel through space and time, but also through timelines. This is one possible explanation. The other one is that for Thanos we can use the same theory, while Cap has always been the husband Peggy mentioned in an old interview shown at the Smithsonian (I think in Captain America - the Winter soldier), meaning that Steve was always meant to go in the past and stay there. I’d love to think this is the right explanation, but the first one maybe is more plausible 🤷🏻♀️ So Cap went back to the 40s and decided to stay there, creating, as a consequence, a new parallel timeline where he lived with Peggy until he became old, and then, maybe around the same year of our 2023, he return to our (his original) timeline to meet Sam and to give him a new shield.
@giuliacheney2 жыл бұрын
@@Parallaxus Cap didn’t go to a different timeline… when he decided to go back further in time, instead of coming back to 2023, a new timeline created itself, where he lived and grew old with Peggy…. Of course, being a supersoldier made him grow old slower than her, and at one point, I think we he felt it was the right moment, he decided to use the Pym particles, existing in the parallel timeline too, and travelled through the quantum realm to arrive exactly at the moment he knew he was supposed to come back when he left in his original timeline.

And it makes sense that after Tony didn’t get his, Steve would be more inclined to take the risk and choose to be happy with Peggy.

I believe the returning of the stones puts everything back. They also say, changing the past doesn't necessarily change the present. My 2 biggest issues with this movie are the girl power scene during the battle as it didn't just happen naturally, it was an obvious hey look at this scene. All the female heroes and only the female heroes just happened to be there at that moment and none of the male heroes? Also I always felt old man Steve Rogers should have been Stan Lee as his final cameo. Making all of his MCU cameos just him (Steve) checking on his old friends.

@fortunatus12 жыл бұрын
You guys got the premise about time travel wrong. There are no paradoxes in MCU time travel. Going back in time creates an alternate time line. Killing Thanos in the past does nothing to affect their time line cause Thanos's snap already happened to them in their own time line. It just creates a new time line in which Thanos doesn't exist (but our heroes don't live in that new time line). Taking the stones from a different time line only affects that time line it was taken from. Returning the stones at the time they were taken corrects the problems that would affect that time line and erases the chaotic time line without stones. PS You'll have to watch the Loki series before anyone can answer Loki questions.
@fortunatus12 жыл бұрын
Also, if you listen to Bucky and Cap talking before Cap time travels, you would realize that they did have a conversation. Bucky knew that Cap was going to live in the past and that's why Bucky said that he will miss him.

Using the time stone would have undone Tony's snap bringing Thanos and his army back to life. Then Thanos would have destroyed the universe.
