He saw many possibilities. The only one that worked was the one where Quill "screwed up". So one could argue that without him doing that, they would've been wiped out. I'm sure in those possible futures he saw Quill do what he did and they could've planned ahead to keep him restrained, but chose not to because it needed to happen. So if he didn't do that, they'd all likely be screwed.

So I kinda imagine that you still need a shit-ton of strength yourself in order to use the stones in a paticular way. This scene is so well done. The fact Mantis could make a celestial go to sleep in Gotg volume 2 but not Thanos speaks volumes about Thanos's will power. The desperate way RDJ delivers the line "Dont engage we almost got this off!" is honestly perfection. When Peter finds out what Thanos did, I like that he just called him an A-hole instead of some over dramatic movie line and the hurt way he sounds when he said " No you didnt" sounded so real. When he starts hitting Thanos and Drax yells his name it really hit different for me with Drax being a more comical character and the fact he made the same mistake on Nowhere. The fact the last time Quill saw Gamora he was trying to conjure up the strength to shoot her really makes this scene so sad. Thanos just throwing Mantis also really hits me because with her being a more innocent almost child like character, seeing her just get brutalized really shows Thanos is not playing games. And the music is perfect when Quill srews up you can feel all the emotions at once. Truly a phenomenal scene not just for the MCU and comic book films, but for films in general.

That was never established in any previous movie, and in Wandavision she had to establish roots to neutralize Agatha, and she was a witch. If what youre saying is true, she essentially just pulls this power out of her ass in order to kill her, no setup for it, which removes a lot of stakes. Even if she did remove all of Captain Marvels powers, then the original blast, followed by her slamming into the top of the statue before falling all the way down to the ground would have killed her before the statue falling on her would, but she's somehow alive? At the beginning of Endgame when Cap is asking Tony about Thanos and if he gave any info about where he was going and then later when him, natasha, and scott go to recruit him and he says no. I really wish there was some way to show them his memories to show how badly his fight with Thanos went compared to theirs. Cap and the others got pretty handily defeated by Thanos, but Tony had 1:55 happen to him. Him being scared to face Thanos again is very real when his point of view is shown.

Well, Thor and Banner were only other people who could truly relate to how devastating Thanos was, since they fought him first and lost, while Thor missed a critical shot the second time. Vision comes next, only because he died just for Thanos to bring him back and kill him again. Everyone else? They need to either see his fleet up close or get smacked with a moon before than they can have a proper conversation about this with Stark and the strongest Avengers (whose names aren’t Wanda).

Everyone saying to use a portal to cut Thanos' arm. You all thinking like infinity Thor. Go for the head and cut it off completely
@Aquamentii3 жыл бұрын
As good as this storyline was this scene contained the most plotholes. As soon as you bring Thanos down to that level of vulnerability, things stop making sense. They probably could’ve had a ‘close to victory’ moment that Quill bungles without having the chance to actually kill Thanos and fixating over the gauntlet instead

On the contrary, cutting the arm off still worked in Endgame, so leaving Thanos alive to punish him would have worked fine.

Just to clarify he didn’t obliterate a moon all he did was attack the surface and grab the chunks coming off of it Thanos is smart enough to know bringing the whole moon would destroy him and TEH whole planet

Love how, during the first part of the scene, they didn't use any score of A. Silvestri. That silence brings a lot to the scene. And as Quill starts to realize that the Titan actually did kill Gamora, Silvestri's amazing score starts to kick in. Man, they really captured the pure desperation in this scene. Stark is so close to stop the one thing that he feared the most, Quill starting to grasp that the one thing he loved the most was taken from him. All that while Strange knows he can't intervene whatsoever because of the one possible outcome which results in the defeat of Thanos. Love this film 3.000.
