First of all, you look super cute🤩 Second, about too many unusual cases, my theory is (or at least I’m getting a hint of it) that there is someone in the shadows sort of orchestrating and pushing them to Shen Yi (my best bet is the glasses guy who criticized his painting) to achieve a yet unknown goal. Otherwise, totally agree.

I agree about the police with almost super human abilities... Recently I saw the " we are criminal policeman," (?) 我是刑警, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the overall quality of depiction of regular police work...the it's not sexy but that's probably what it's really day to day like.😊

S2 is quite alright. S1 has much more impact because it is the very beginning. It has SY's backstory, how he slowly gets everyone's trust and respect etc. But some cases in S1 are somewhat absurd and it's the same in S2. I think the writers for S2 have really studied S1 cases and capture the vibe quite well. The only thing to complain is some of the paintings in S2 are not that good? artistic? But not all though.

Did like the first season, but it was a bit unbelievable, he has the biggest office than the President of the US, and some of the pictures he draws without seeing the person, and also would they still use an artist in this day and age, ok it a series! I like the cast, dont know if I will watch the season 2

I completely agree to all the Negatives which made me give it a break after ep. 8. Flying off the handle is definitely the term I would describe season 2. It's lacking the realistic and grounded nature of Season 1 and I find a lot of things more unbelievable now than ever. Even the relationship between the leads seems a bit forced and not as natural as it was in Season 1. Seeing this reminds of the saying, Quantity doesn't equal quality. With all the money in production, they still cannot make something on par with season 1. Unlike you, the only positive I have is, they managed to bring back most of all the cast. And thats all.

I have watched many Police dramas and one of the things I dislike the most is the belittling of police work. Its a lot of hours of real effort to put a case together. In the beginning of law and order (the first few years) the worked the case, made incorrect assumptions, went back to the beginning and started all over. Real work. Then you get Luther who identifies the murderer the first time he sees them. Wow that really cuts back on the work. In the first season of under the skin that's one of the things I liked. I have watched 3 episodes so far and I have noticed this change. Not for the better.

I recommend the First Shot. It feels realistic (about the profession). Although, i am pretty skeptical about the ethics and morals that police have in that drama because I rarely find such in RL 😅

One thing about US drama making that is good is the producer of a drama is often the chief writer and creator of a drama series. This would ensure a consistency in style and vibes of a series. This is not so for Chinese drama spanning more than one season. Hence, you have the problems highlighted here.

I completely agree on the thoughts but I have to add MY GOD I HATE the ADS! Also, I really hate the episode on the policewoman because it really show just how ridiculous the standard of perfection are in Asian societies. Like her apartment was messy but was she a hoarder? Not really, not as bad as SOME can be like they mentioned her grandmother was. That bothered me a lot. I also wondered if they were going to give other side characters this treatment as well and if they don't give them stories, then what was the point of this one? The writing is also REALLY obvious on what they are trying to stress this season which is who is necessarily evil, what's the definition of evil or murder, really shows that everyone is a shade of gray. Overall, it's ok/good so far but it won't surpass the first season (as of right now it seems like).

I feel like this season, Du Cheng becomes a mere sidekick, lile what is his personality if there is no Shen Yi? also since when Shen Yi also a psychiatrist? Ai master 😅😅😅 Nevertheless, this season makes me want to paint again. That's a plus for my personal view

Yes, I totally agree, and it's making my blood boil about Du Cheng. Shen Yi being super human who suddenly can read people's intentions and do proper profiling on them with no phycological knowledge is straight away ridiculous as well.

I liked Season 2 better than Season 1, the cases were much more interesting, and many of the new actors/actresses I knew and like to see them. I have no idea what the 'main' plot gonna be like though, so needless to say, I'm hooked and can't wait until the next episodes!

First season had a bit horror and scarefright. The end was a bit rushed. It felt like compacted with finally showing the murderer. Second season felt like a second chance, a bit bland. The cast was not put forward to balance the two male heads as in first season. I loved that for its a team effort and no "I" in team. I love the plot twist in both seasons talking about other murders and crimes. They try to push in second season if a boys love. I dont like that. Their relation was mutual respect in either field and friendship but not boys love. 🤣🤣🤣 I did not notice product placement 🤣🤣🤣

The relationship between the 2 male leads is a bit constrained and forced. It is missing that “angsty bond” that was in simmering beneath the surface in Season 1. That handle is missing and the drama is no longer as addictive as Season 1. Very few succeed in encore seasons.

Having watched the drama "Blossom" for 10 episodes I think the reason for its popularity might be because although it is an historical drama, they interact and seem to speak in a modern way. (According to the subtitles......or that might be because the subtitles are getting better). Just my opinion. Thanks for your help in understanding Chinese dramas

First season was definitely better but season 2 is good as well. May be I am watching it along with Black and white forest which makes Under the skin 2 much much better. Also I think (I am not sure) they changed Shen yi's artist. The sketching style is very different from season 1. They solved one of my curiosities from last season. In first season, Shen yi's bike kind of teleported from police station to his home. This season they explained how it happened.. 😄

I think the 2nd season is really bland. you can feel its missing something. So, far I dont see any over arching story we are supposed to be hooked up on. When one of the character was introduced (the guy who critics ml's art work". I thought we might get something but I was disappointed with pacing. I don't even know why he was introduced.

I like both Season 1 and Season 2! I'm enjoying Season 2 so far, especially after reading some extra information about Shen Yi profession in reality. Season 2 added more psychology elements, and I extremely like it! I love how a drama can combine artistic and psychological elements to solve cases. Although I also think Season 1 is better than Season 2 about production quality, Season 2 makes me cry more up to now when I've just watched episode 18. I truly appreciate the increased humanity through the cases in Season 2. My conclusion is that Season 2 doesn't make me disappointed, and I really love it!

Your fluffy pj/gown is so cute!!! You're much more generous than me in this review. I also watched up to ep 14 and decided I can't continue with this any longer. I dislike the complete focus on Shen Yi as the genius leader of the investigation. He's no longer just an artist, he's now both a psychic and a psychologist giving out tests to people. The crimes went from understandable and reasonable in S1 to fantastical and ridiculous in S2. The way they (mostly Shen Yi) profile the criminals are unscientific and unconvincing. Just overall very disappointing for a crime drama.

I don't know how can they manage to ruin anything beautiful in a drama by taking it away the next season. What was beautiful in season 1 was the relationship between the two main leads, so let's take away this wonderful part and focus on irrelevant things. Du Cheng character, I will never forgive them for making him unnecessary sidekicks who has no investigation talents even though he is a young team leader.

The show is just plain bad, no matter how much you want to sweep under the rug how absurdly ridiculous it is. Good performances by the supporting cast? The woman who threw a scarecrow with her clothes is good? The guy on the mountain is good? Does the script make sense? What's the point of throwing the scarecrow, some kind of ritual of detachment from the self I'm leaving behind? My God, your love for certain CPs or actors/actresses makes you prefer to say nothing and save the unsalvageable... The script borders on the absurd; for a cop thriller it's bad, for a psychological thriller even worse. And Shen Yi only needs to fly to be a god. Are you sure this isn't a fantasy drama?
