Today we take a look at a video highly requested by a subscriber named Dasha. I've never seen Netball before and I know pretty much nothing about the sport. I looked into some rules and am excited to learn more about this interesting sport! Thank you so much for the recommendation and I hope you enjoy the video.

i’m australian and this sport is huge here. almost every girl i know has played it at least once in their life. the fact that it is one of the only sports dominated by women isn’t great because that automatically means that it will be considered inferior to “men’s” sports, but it is super fun and i hope that one day soon, we’ll have a men’s league and more male players.

The best netball games to watch would be between Australia and New Zealand. The top four teams in the world are Australia, New Zealand, England and Jamaica. Yes you can defend- as long as you are 3feet from the opponent with the ball. There isn't a shot clock but players are only allowed to hold the ball for 3 seconds. No matter your position on the court. The shooters and the defenders are normally the tallest on the court. Some of the shooters in the elite level have been 6ft5 etc.

It is interesting to hear you say how fast New Zealand are playing. Honestly they are hardly breaking a sweat. As others have mentioned, you need to see them playing Australia. The games are so fast both countries have an arrangement they bring their own umpires, because they are the only ones who can keep up with the play

Kudos for you doing a video on a predominantly female-sport! Most people wouldn't bother, but it makes me happy to see. Netball is HUGE in Australia (and NZ), almost every girl plays it at some point in their lives but there's not a massive audience like you get for sports like AFL, cricket, soccer etc. Partly because it is almost exclusively played by women/girls, but also because, IMO at least, it's not really taken too seriously as a professional sport since it is something that almost all of us play at some point. The Aust v NZ games are the best, those being the top two teams in the world, the games get super fast and intense. Zimbabwe don't really rate in the scheme of things. It's mostly Commonwealth countries who play. Also, for a non-contact sport, netball results in a lot of injuries (especially knees and ankles). Oh and yes if the GK (defender) was jumping and blocking the GS (shooter) and hits the ball away, that's legal as long as the GK stays 3ft away and doesn't coming into contact with the player. The ball is a bit smaller than a basketball, and lighter too.

Thank you, very entertaining. Netball is possibly the most underrated team sport, closely followed by hockey (no prefix, I refuse to call it field hockey). We used to be able to watch Kabaddi on terrestrial TV now I have to go online. Hockey and Kabaddi might be worth looking into, personally I think they're great team sports. Of course football (the one using the foot most of the time), is the greatest.

Netball is great to play if you have competition in my opinion . As someone ( a women ) who grew up playing all sorts of sport from Netball to Baseball, Rugby League, Touch, Volleyball and Swimming/Athletics. Netball is definitely a sport a lot of people underestimate if they don’t get the rules down pack and are only use to playing at like in-house/school level games( I played indoor states and national for Australia back in my teens and early 20’s, which honestly was only 5 years ago but I’m no longer fit to play at those levels anymore due to a knee injury, which are very common in Netball ). I still play it just for fun now for in-house but it ain’t really the same as playing to actually achieve something on a bigger scale

Fun fact: the difference between an umpire and a referee is that a referee conducts the game while in the “field of play”, whereas an umpire conducts the game while outside the field of play. Hence why netball has umpires, while rugby has referees…

Also in Australian (Aussie) Rules (AFL Australian Football League) is they DON'T have a Referee at all but actually instead an Umpire as well too which means that Australian Rules is the only Football Code that has an Umpire but (NO) Referee at all out of the other very different Football Codes & yes Football (Soccer) do have Referees as well too exactly same as both of the Rugby Codes of both Rugby Union Football & Rugby League Football of course.

The women are the pros though and ‘mixed gender' and ‘mens' has yet to be added to The Commonwealth Games. In Mixed you can only have 3 men and there must be a male in each third. e.g you could not have 2 male shooters. The rules and the flow of this game make it the best team sport ever. The 7 of you work constantly for the ball, looking for the gaps. There is no room for heroes the team works together.

Another thing once you have landed with the ball in your hand you can only move the foot you have landed on sooo basically its not like basketball where u can move with the ball. Actually if you move with the ball in your hand its could a 'foot fault' or 'stepping' and then the ball will go to the other team. Oh and one more thing😂u are allowed to catch the ball out of the air it's called an 'intercept' but players must be 3feet away from eachother and not because of covid😂😂 that's just the rules otherwise it's called 'obstruction' and if you knock someone or push someone it's called 'contact'.

All you need is some ground and a couple of nets. In Africa and India it is generally played outside on grass or dirt.

Lol..you NEARLY have obvious laws down. 1 pt per goal. Can not hit the ball out of holders hand. Can BLOCK the shot AFTER it leaves the players hand. Can WAVE your hands to block a passs PROVIDED you are 3ft away from the HOLDER. Inside that distance you commit the offence of OVER DEFENDING. Lot more rules but those are basic. Average size player would hopefully be 6ft to 6ft 6. New Zealand ALWAYS RANK TOP 3. No USA team. Awesome watch. Much love keep it going.

Its weird, because you cant run with the ball, where you catch the ball, is where you stay and pass it!! goals are 1 point, except from outside the arc is 2 pointer.

The 2 score point is only in 6 aside I believe or 5 where you can shoot from outside the circle Definitely not 7, that is strictly 1 point a score since your only allowed to make a shot with in the half circle

American has a team but they never qualify for the World Cup because Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados all have pretty good teams. USA team is not on that level unfortunately. They are kind of third tier.

@@chesterdonnelly1212 aww poor America. That's so cool though I didn't even know it was played at all in USA. Also, I'm an Aussie and life-long netball player / fan so I can tell you that the Australian team is the best in the world, followed by New Zealand (though they will tell you they are the best), then England, Jamaica, South Africa and so on (these are normally the top 5 teams)

There are really only 2 teams Australia and New Zealand. We are 95 percent of the time 1 and 2. As with many sports we have a great rivalry.

@@gavinholt5428 I'm English. Netball is popular here but the Australia vs New Zealand rivalry is the best. I'm a bit envious. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are all improving but they are no match for England.

Hate to break ti to you, but you won't get the 100k Indians watching this one like the cricket vids. Maybe a few asking for Bobs and Vagnine, but not many.
