I just purchased one of these carpet rakes from HD. Our carpet is 16 years old and we are the original homeowners. It's just my wife and I and we never wear shoes in the house. We actually just had it cleaned for the first time since purchasing the home. We vacuum regularly and I use Resolve cleaner if we notice any type of spots on the carpet. The high traffic areas have looked some what "matted" for some time now. After using the rake as shown in the video we too were pleasantly surprised with the result. I will make this a regular part of maintaining our carpet in the future. Well worth the less than $15.00 price.

Thank you thank you thank... i have been searching for a carpet rake and seeing a ton advertising mainly for pet hair but I was trying to find one for revitalizing the carpet and you video has been THE MOST helpful that ive found so far! I have very similar pile carpet to yours so im glad to know that this style rake worked for you! Awesome video, very thorough and thanks for getting down there and really showing us the difference between the matted/flattened area and the raked area!!👍👍

My husband is flat footed and there's no way to keep the carpet up just by vacuuming wherever he walks on a daily basis. Our rake will be delivered this week and this video helped us make the decision! Thank you!
@AverageMe3 жыл бұрын
One hint I can give is don't use is hard. I hear some people saying they break them, and all I can think is they are pushing down on them too hard. It doesn't take a lot of force. Mine has lasted just fine.
@marydanielle71833 жыл бұрын
@@AverageMe I can definitely see how people may break it if they apply too much pressure. However, this thing is amazing! My carpet feels like carpet again!!!

Thank you for this simple video. I've got some problem areas in my apartment, (low shag, cheapo carpet), and I think this will help. I've tried everything else as well, and a carpet rake like this may solve my problem. Thank you!! ☺

@sherrycote41734 жыл бұрын
Interesting I grew up in the 70s I had a shag carpet in my room we used a regular metal rake to rake it. It was pretty ugly but my sister and I loved it. That looks really nice. It does look fun and satisfying. I’m weird though and I love to vacuum 😊

Nice video but wouldn’t it make sense to utilize this tool before the actual heavy duty cleaning, seeing how you not only get dirt easily loosened but also a better clean when nap is lifted?

Been thinking about getting one. But I also thought about trying a method I recently read about, involving laying a damp towel on the area and ironing it.
@AverageMe Жыл бұрын
That can help as a one-time restore , but the rake can be used regularly. Along with vacuuming, it’ll keep your carpet in better shape

This type is not meant to pull up fur or hair. It is simply meant to pull up the carpet fibers. There are other types that are designed for picking up fur and hair.

Does the lifted carpet feel soft or like little spikes. I've tried lifting matted carpet using other techniques, but i couldnt get the same softness
@AverageMe9 ай бұрын
It feels soft. After I would rake it, it was quite noticeable on bare feet. Of course, it could depend on the carpet style, and I did get into the habit of using the rake about once a week in the heavily matted areas to keep it looking and feeling good. I suspect it would be even better if you never let it get matted in the first place . The carpet in the video was a heavy traffic area.

No, all it can do is raise the nap and loosen dirt. I doubt it would remove a stain.

I wonder how long the fluffing lasts.. I saw a few reviews say it was until it was stepped on... cuz that would suck to put so much effort in it, and its immediately undone.

Hmmm, I don't know. This product looks fragile on the bristles and handle, and I fear it won't work on old carpets, older than 20+ years, with tough piles to bounce back. How can you compare this rake against a pvc yard broom when used on carpet?
@AverageMe2 жыл бұрын
I don't know, but I'd say try whatever you think would work. I was happy with this product for my use.

When you move the carpet back and forth like that with a rake or something of that nature you're actually putting the dirt under the carpet part of it is being raped into a pile but part of it is going under the carpet but anyway
@AverageMe4 жыл бұрын
There's not a lot of dirt to start with.
@italianmermaid63064 жыл бұрын
That isn’t true. Raking the carpet actually loosens and lifts the dirt prior to vacuuming. He did a great job, let him have his glory.

And the home wasn’t dirty to start with!
@lyssamariev3 жыл бұрын
actually a lot of professional carpet cleaners here on KZbin always recommend raking your carpets because a good vacuuming. they said it loosens the dirt and pile and helps clean it really well.

And the first step on....it will be back down
@AverageMe3 жыл бұрын
Of course, carpet always compresses when stepped on. And it’s not magically returning to new. What this will do is add life, keep it cleaner, and make it look better than it did without the rake.
