I just traveled to the Philippines for 60 days. I am a US citizen so I showed up without a visa and got it. No problem. After about 20 days, I went to Davao immigration and extended my visa another 28 days. I paid them a little over 3000 pesos and stayed the additional time, but when I was exiting the Philippines, I was surprised by immigration requiring me to pay an additional over 5000 pesos. I had to go to the ATM machine and luckily it worked for me so I was able to pay the additional pesos. My advice please don’t go to immigration on your exit from the airport and expect that the fee you paid for a 30 day extension will cover everything. It did not for me and I was very lucky that my ATM card works at the Filipina airport because I did not have the extra pesos on me in cash. Thank you. By the way., it is great information that I can now extend my Filipino visa online because before I was having to drive all the way from Parang Maguindanao to Davao immigration office. Thank you again.

Especially if you're trading at the banks. However, I've found that to get the best exchange rates, I usually shop around (in this case, in Cebu). The exchange booths found in most malls have the lowest exchange rates. The highest rates I've found are in Metro (Ayala Mall or a Metro grocery store) with the next hight in SM malls. If anyone knows a better location let me know, 🙂

We will be departing USA on November 23, 2023 and returning on January 18, 2024 for a stay in the Philippines of 55 days. I plan on obtaining a tourist visa for myself at the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco. Since I am travelling with a Philippine citizen is a visa requited? Also If I entered with a passport and no visa could I extend my stay once I am in the Philippines. I have travelled to the Philippines many times but never stayed for more than a couple of weeks. I am a former Filipino I stayed 1 year and 2 months in the Philippines. I had to pay 11,000 pesos because I over stayed. As a former Filipino we are allowed to stay only 1 year in the Philippines. You have to pay the visa extension around $50 per month. I had to pay more because I paid late and they also have this ecard thing which is kinda expensive too..The lady asked me if I want to apply for dual citizenship. I think she noticed my reaction with the 11k just because I overstayed for 2 months thus they have this additional fees so it’s not only $50. The lady said it’s expensive because the rate is Dollar not Philippine peso.

@davlax
@davlax Жыл бұрын
Why all of a sudden is this requirement for a Philippine birth certificate a factor in getting a Balikbayan visa stamped on a former Filipino’s passport? Isn’t the fact that the person’s country of birth (Philippines) is already printed on the passport, it should erase doubts as to the person’s birth? I don’t understand where you’re still required to prove your place of birth. At least that’s the information included on a US passport and I can’t speak for other countries. Since when did showing a birth certificate become a requirement to get a Balikbayan visa? That’s redundant, in my opinion. Just asking since whenever I return to Manila, I have always been granted BB visa privileges just by the fact that my country of birth is on my passport. Could it be that I speak and sound like a native?
@lilys5095
@lilys5095 Жыл бұрын
@@davlax It is because being born in PH doesn’t automatically mean you are a PH citizen. Hence a passport showing your country of birth as PH is not a proof that you are a PH citizen(or former citizen). Read about ‘jus soli’ and ‘jus sanguinis’. PH follows jus sanguinis while US follows jus soli.

No more covid requirements on both ends, but check with your airlines as they might have their own requirements. Present both Philippine passport and US passport when exiting and entering the Phils. if you do not want to pay an overstay fee. Since it has been over a year, you have to pay both Travel Tax and Terminal Fee. Travel Tax - 1,620 (economy/business class) 2,700 (first class) Terminal Fee - 750 Check your ticket if the travel tax and terminal fee is included.
