Perseverance pays off. I love it. It's very soft and sort of takes you in as you glance or stare at it. Great job. (P.S.) you have more patience than I do.

You made a brilliant save with this process. I have someof the Prima Watercolor pans (they were gifted to me) and do find them to be pretty, but weak. My typical supplies are Roman Szmal, M. Graham, Mission Gold, DS and Schminke. So I guess I am used to having better quality supplies. HOWEVER - I do really love the very soft color that you wound up with. Adding the graphite to the drawing really made a different look, that I find pleasing. So much so that I may pull out my Prima pans and work with some of my Faber Castell watercolor pencils and see if I can achieve a similar feel. There is always inspiration in your videos and I thank you for that. Much appreciation. :)

Interesting to watch your process here. Or should I say, struggle. It's hard to know sometimes whether the problem is with the materials or yourself as the creator, so it's helpful to hear you explain why they didn't work. I was lucky to receive a set of Caran D'Ache watercolor pencils for Christmas to add to my Faber Castell ones. Glad to have supplies that help rather than hinder.

It's nice you received those 🙂 yes for sure in my case it was the pencils, after coloring so much with WP lately. And yes when it's new it's hard to know if it's us or the supplies I agree!

I have the FC pale pencil colors.. unfortunately they behave the same way... Since I'm not an experienced artist at the beginning I thought it was standing a lot of time at the store although I bought it sealed. I admire your persistent so that we learn from your tutorial. Thank you anyway for what you teach.

You're welcome! Are yours another kind from the Albrecht Dürer ? Probably the goldfaber aqua? (I have a few and they don't match the AD).

@@paintingandchocolate I really don't remember. I have left them back in Greece. I'm currently living with my daughter's family in Toronto. So when I'm going back in May I'll check them again.

Actually I think the finished picture is pretty nice! But it's frustrating when the medium is not giving you what you wanted. I have a watercolour pencil set (here in UK) from stationer W H Smith which are surprisingly good for the price (I paid about £10 for a 24 set). One trick I use a lot is to wet the end of the pencil to add a few definition lines in the final layer, which gives a much more pigmented line. And like you I'm a big fan of the FC graphite aquarelles.

This looks like a painful chore. Bless you for seeing the artwork through and not showing your frustration on the video. What was the manufacturer thinking? No one tested these out before mass production?

@@paintingandchocolate Have you ever asked the manufactures why they make products like this? Perhaps they have a reason in mind. Makes me want to hug my Faber Castell lol. BTW, Thank you for the quick reply. Cheers

I've been there, using subpar art supplies but we always try to make it work. The good thing is bad medium can be covered or aided with better ones. Paper is the one thing no amount of medium can help. Lol. I like the end product by the way!

Cheap watercolor pencils made me hold back to be with the medium. I used to have the Red Coded Faber Castell Watercolour Pencils and it's difficult to work with it in terms of layering but the pigments of the pencils are slightly consistent with its looks. Red Coded Faber Castell products do not suit for artists most of the time since those are made for child's play.

@@paintingandchocolate ohhh, you should definitely give it a try, they have insane pigmentation and no wood, the whole pencil is color so you can use it in different ways but still can sharpen it if needed. Oh bleep, I made a typo, I meant Derwent 🙄
