Hi, can you tell me what brush that was that you initially used to wet the paper (dark wood handle)? My hake brushes like to shed and that looked like a really nice brush. Thanks!

Du machst sehr schöle Illustrationen! Bravo! LG.

Beautiful work, inspiring to try watercolour pencils again. I was inspired by your Skillshare class and tried a bit, and saved that class for reference. Got a new box of these pencils for my bday this month, and hope to try to use them more!

See you in the masterclass: bit.ly/3VLNF5f

I'm obsessed, particularly, with trying to do the one of the raven soaring in the mist. If you sign up for the masterclass, can you take your time during the class, and is one able to do it at a slower pace, or is there a time limit (sometimes I'm unable to paint for physical reasons). Also, will this class be available in the future, and what does "real time" mean? As you can tell, I'm totally unfamiliar with these things. Thanks.

Once you purchase it, it's yours. You start when you please, and complete the projects as you wish even though the order I put them in is better for learning. The tutorials are filmed as I paint, no cuts (this is real time). You can also reach out to me with questions, photos of your art, for help and feedback. I hope this was clearer 🙂

I love this autumn forest and did repaint it. Did not look closest to what you painted but overall the outcome wasn´t bad. One thing I did nt manage was how you spilt the leaves onto the paper. Tried with finger, tried with two brushes. No, did not work. Great if you could show that again also who (thick) you mixed the colours. Thanks in Advance!

Thank you for sharing about your experience. Ican suggest to try it with a paintbrush for oil paints as the bristle aren't as soft and splatters come out easier.

I have such a problem with tape. I’ve tried washi, which leak, then regular tape and masking tape which tear often. What do you use? I just adore your videos and watch them for hours!
@paintingandchocolate5 күн бұрын
Thank you Maria! I use the most plain construction tape. A known one you can find on amazon and that I love is Tesa. Otherwise it could be the paper you use tears easily. I have no problems with arches and baohong.
@emilyerdbeere92104 күн бұрын
I had always the same issues. You can try Tesa sensitive (it’s pink)
@Bearwithme5604 күн бұрын
Out of all you mentioned above, using regular tape, i.e. the non-shiny Scotch brands called "invisible tape", was a "hack" from another YT creator and worked brilliantly for me. It's also the least expensive. Sometimes touching the sticky part lightly on a piece of clothing helps to lesson the adhesive a bit more.

Very interesting! I cannot imagine my paper staying wet, or even damp, for 45 minutes! 😮 Arches, or Saunders Waterford is what I use most often., and I thought I was using a LOT of water! I’ve also been using pans, instead of tubes. Time to do some experimenting! Thanks for the video!

Great video. I use good paper but my paintings always dry too quickly. I live in a region of Australia, which can be hot and dry which doesn’t help but I can see from this tutorial that I could use a lot more water initially. Looking forward to trying that on my next painting. Thank you 🙏 Lovely painting. I like your style ❤

Best tip ever for beginners is using 100%cotton paper, i used cheap pulp papers for years, had decent results but cotton is so much better for sure. 😊

Arteza Hot Press paper is quite reasonably priced. It’s 100% cotton as well.

I like it as a go between fast-drying papers and 100% cotton like Arches, it is nice and not too pricey as you said

I've just completed a study of multi-layered portraits on various 12x16 watercolor blocks: Saunders, Arches, Meeden, New York Central, Fabriano, Baohong (student) and Legion, as well as others at different times. Side by side over the past few months. So, my head-to-head competition of real-world portrait painting is finally done, and the winner is...: Baohong. I thought it was going to be Saunders, but it wasn't. Arches is, of course, right there with Baohong, but at 3 times the price. 2nd was Meeden, which some think is the same thing as Baohong, but I don't think so. I have not tried Baohong Artist because my availability is only the course paper, and that texture is not ideal for most portrait paintings. The reason Baohong wins is as follows: 1) Layer after layer after layer, no peeling at all. For someone who layers, lifts, plays with the paper a lot, this is a big deal. 2) Smooth application and the paint stays workable a good while. Going over an edge with a slightly damp brush blends the edge effortlessly and in one stroke. Super special. 3) Perfect bleeds and no surprises. 4) I was sold on this paper after 30 seconds of painting on it. Obviously great, right out of the gate on a 10-hour painting, and through the whole 10 hours, nothing to convince me otherwise. Your review seems to be of a very highly textured paper (likely the coarse version of their cold press). I know that most of the Artist level paper they sell is coarse. Try the plain old lowly Student paper. I think the only difference is the Student grade has a texture almost identical to Arches standard cold press.
