In this video I talk about how my avoidant behaviours often make me feel lonely and isolated. I want to stress that I’m not saying I have it bad, there are many people out there who face constant loneliness, this video is dedicated to anyone out there who is on their own.
Don’t forget to tell me how your week has been.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this - I hope to see you next time.
Please subscribe to my channel for more videos about mental illness and leave any questions or comments you may have in the space below.
Take care and I hope you have a safe, peaceful week.

The Little Blue Pot
Welcome to my KZbin channel where I’m hoping to educate people on the different types of mental disorders to provide an understanding and learn ways to cope. I also vlog about my own experience of living with mental illness, as well as sharing other aspects of my life. I want to raise awareness of mental health problems and mental illness, so I hope my channel helps you and others.
I am not a qualified mental health expert, but I am an expert in living with mental illness. All my videos are based on lots of research and I do my best to explain everything as clearly as possible and provide examples from my life to help you understand. I might not get it right every time, but I do the best I can. I hope the findings from my research are of benefit to you.
This Vlog is from my perspective, but I do appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience as myself - we are all different after all. I have also tried, where applicable, to reference everything correctly, but we are all human and make mistakes - please stick with me.

I can completely relate to this Gem. I had a year and a half of almost complete social avoidance and detachment and had to begin to piece together semblance of myself once I started taking medication and engaging with counselling. It's such a difficult line because the 'safety behaviours' as the crisis team called it were harming me but also feel protective so there's always this pull towards them even though you end up feeling lonely and you think you're terrible company anyway. It's a complete catch 22. I have found some low commitment volunteering has really helped me. I do some gardening and helping with the animals at a local farm and I also dog walk for a UK charity that helps people with illness or who are too elderly to walk their own dogs. This may be a welcome distraction for you and is not as pressured as having the responsibility of your own pet. I always really like your videos and honesty. Congratulations on the 800 subscribers mark!

Hi Habiba, good to hear from you. Thanks for totally getting it, it is such a catch 22. I hope you have found the medication and counselling are helping. I have been thinking about volunteering for a while now, just so scared to commit to anything, but I know it will bring me joy. Oh it's so frustrating. Thanks again for understanding. Hope you're ok. Have a good week. Hugs x

I recognise the struggle of linking different 'realities' so much. Also, feeling just weird around people. Thank you for mentioning :)

Thank you for sharing. You are so sweet. I'm 61 but feel and think like a 35 year old in a healthy mature way. Except I am struggling too. Love my bed and solitude. But it's progressed into complete isolation for the last three years. That's about when I stopped regular counselling sessions. I went to this website today called "Better Help". Finally figured out what's wrong with me and that like you I am not alone. This website did a video on "Avoidance Personality Disorder." Just started back for counselling so tomorrow I am going to bring this up. I am on a anti-depressant and 2 other mood stabilizers. I was off my antidepressant for 9 weeks to lose weight at my Dr.'s recommendation and got very depressed, so much so I couldn't sit in a chair. Spent 22 hours a day in bed. My energy is returning and I am going for 30 minute walks now. But now I have to address my "APD" All the best to you.

I Gail, thanks for your comment, I totally get the love of being in bed and I feel for you on the isolation. I'm pleased that your energy is returning and you are able to go on walks. Let me know how you get on with the APD diagnosis. I often think I have it, but I've never been diagnosed. Thanks so much for your comment and apologies again for the poor sound. Great to have you in the community Gail. Take care. Hugs x

Your struggling but you are getting out of bed, so that is progress! It will take time to adjust as you know, it's not going to change overnight. Do you have a local shop you can walk to and pick up a paper or small item? You will have some limited contact plus the walk will release feel good hormones? Do you think you would be comfortable with a pet? My cat Wilson is great company a real companion. You sound like you have a great voice when you sang, thank you, more subscribers!

Hi Patrick, thank you, you have made my day! Also your advice is great, and I'm going to try more things like that. We are looking into getting a dog, just need to work out if we can afford it. Fingers crossed I will have my own companion soon, I'm so pleased you have Wilson. I hope you have a good week, take care and thanks for commenting and subscribing! Hugs x

Thank you for your lovely reply! Wilson was next doors cat but about four years ago my partner let him in the house and get ran up stairs and jumped on the bed, where I was sleeping after an op in hospital looked me up and down then lay tight up the length of me for hours. He hasn't left since and spend all his indoor time and nights here. Apparently he looks at my face and smells my breath in the morning, if he's happy he will curl up at my feet if not he will sit by face or even wake me up! He actually tries to scratch Sharon if she comes near me and hates it if we kiss or I pass her a bit of food😹😹😹 I forgot to say thank you for making your videos, your so open and honest and a blast of fresh air. X

Hi Gail, sorry about the volume. I have crappy editing software and that's as high as the volume goes. Trying to find something better so fingers crossed it will improve soon. Hope you're ok. Hugs
