We are reading the developer loud and clear. With such toxic rhetoric he just destroyed the game, it will fail financially like recent attempts (Veilgurad, Concord).

Avowed just went from something I was cautiously optimistic for, to something I will never be buying or wasting my time with. Thank you for this valuable information, I'll save my resources for other things that matter more and aren't made by people who hate me.

Naive question about games industry… do companies just have no input or have no care to moderate concerning crap like this posted on social media, and most especially by a senior leader within a company? It’s one thing to make yourself look terrible amongst the gaming community, but whether like it or not, this represents the company too. And they’re releasing a huge product very soon, what the hell are these guys even thinking!? I’m a mid-career research scientist and this shit would never fly

This is actually a really great question, and I had to make a follow up video where I bring this up. Most times nobody gets in any kind of publicly observable trouble for statements on social media. Most they will get is HR or a manager talking to them behind closed doors. I've never heard of anybody getting fired from these tone deaf social media posts, but if it were some post it wouldn't be publicly announced. Big exception is if a lawsuit is involved. A lot of places will fire people as a knee jerk reaction if anybody is named in a lawsuit and they knew about it. So sorry for the delay, it was a busy Thanksgiving.

The Outer Worlds was such an ugly game. The color palette was a total visual assault ans the character models weren't much better. I had little hope for Avowed, but now I have none. Oh well.

obsidian made one DLC, some kickstarter shit, and thats about it. i dont think they're a company worth considering even before this. wheres pillars of eternity 3? nowhere now.

Ugly characters = not buying. It doesnt even matter if the game play is great. The art style will stop me from playing.

Avowed was already on my "pirate and then wait for a steep sale" list due to the overall aesthetic not looking all that great and the combat seeming Skyrim levels of simplistic, but now it has been revised to just "I probably won't even pirate it"

What do you even do as an artist under this kind of director? The worst part is that the side of the aisle that his views fall into are the same ones that, let's say, the Video Game Awards would find in vogue. My sympathies to those who have to work under him. I'd be brushing off my resume for when the studio eventually goes under. But this really seems like the situation where the crew needs to mutiny, before the director sinks the whole ship. There must be higher-ups they can go to. I'd imagine being actually in the industry gives those workers a glimpse to the reality of studio failures, more-so than the public can see just from news coverage.

When you said "ugliest characters of the year" my first reaction was "nah they do look fine" but if I had to pick one to play with, I wouldn't know who to pick cause they all do look boring af.

I am so envy of your mustache dude.Anyway another game pass game i am gonna pass on it. It looks so generic,meh,terrible characters design,and we see nothing yet of the writing but i have no hopes with these ppl,and one red flag after another poping up. it is woke mind virus +tds and now emds.
