Another top shelf demo. IR's sure make the decision whether to spend an hour or two (while enjoyable at times) mic'ing up a cab or not almost a no-brainer if working alone in the studio. I would love to see Pete incorporate more studio-flavored content along with regular gear demos!

I'm a bass player, but I really LOVE watching your demos! You're great at explaining what a piece of gear does, AND what it can do for me as a player. I dig that you also care enough to show your demos on bass, that's not something most guitar players can, or will, do, and that makes you my hero! You're a phenomenal guitar player and a fantastic reviewer! Thanks for your hard work, I appreciate it!

I’m inspired by the intro music to this video. I decided to order in one of these, can’t go to a store and buy one. Anyway I love it. Sounds amazing, and I can use it in a couple different ways, both live and home recording. The IR loading is super simple, and the cabs available at two notes cover all the basses. I downloaded the USA PT first.

So, correct me if I'm wrong. I can go speaker out from my Mesa Boogie Mark v 35 combo into the CAB M, speaker out from this unit to the speaker. Turn off the speaker, with the switch on the back of the Mesa, and then line out from the CAB M into my audio interface/mixer without issues with my amp because I have the speaker plugged into the CAB M correct?

Great demo! Any reason you decided to load down the amp first instead of amp to cab m then load down? Cheers!
@nickm.94745 жыл бұрын
Probably because he's not using a cab. Believe hes just loading down the amp.
@SlinkyT825 жыл бұрын
@@nickm.9474 Yeah I know that, he said he's taking the signal from the Suhr reactive load and feeding it into the cab m. I'm wondering why he didn't take the signal directly from the amp (as the product is designed to do) and then go to the reactive load. That way we'd be hearing the cab m DI and not the reactive load first.
@PeteThorn5 жыл бұрын
It makes no difference Erik - you can do it either way and it will be exactly the same. It was convenient for me to do it this way because the reactive load is a few feet away, by my amps- and I have a patchbay on my desk that allows me to take the line level signal right out of it, into the pedal. But either way, you can either run speaker out of your amp through the speaker simulator box, and then into a load, or you can take the line out of the load into the speaker simulator box. The tone will be identical
@SlinkyT825 жыл бұрын
@@PeteThorn thanks dude, this was what I was curious about. Cheers! 😊
@duncancartledge16675 жыл бұрын
Erik Truss one advantage of loading the amp down before cab m is... if you can reduce the line out signal form the load box ( Torpedo Captor can do this) you can reduce to pedal level and run the load signal to effects pedals then to Cab m... depends on your pedals but TC Electronic pedals can take line level signals.

@Pete Thorn: thoughts on this compared to Mooer Radar? I play a little guitar and bass. Would be nice for home headphone practice and recording quick ideas.
@robertj13035 жыл бұрын
I think pick and mix modelling and IRs is a bit like buying pedals, extremely expensive in the long run. I have decided to downsize my $5000 worth of pedals collected over years and buy an Axe FX III and FC6 and give modelling a go. Wet dry Wet with one of my guitar amps with pristine Celestion’s greenback and creamback in the middle. FRFR two cabs as wet. This and Radar and Ox blah blah is just pick and mix modelling!
@xblinketx5 жыл бұрын
Hey Pete, do you see any sense in buying a product of this kind (CAB M, radar etc) for home recording application only? No live usage. I plan to record my tube amp using Captor as a load box and taking IRs from the software (Wall of sound). Then I think I don't necessarily need a standalone unit like CAB M or Radar, or do I?
