Fun tutorial, Casey! "wonderful news" lol Quick note: You don't actually need a ReplaceMaterial3D node for Shape3D, it has it's own material input. You do, however, need one for Text+ which does not have a material input. Looking forward to more 3D goodness :)

Casey this is really great. Is there a way to use a black and white photo to create a displacement mask that can be used to create a 3d texture?
@flipnap21123 жыл бұрын
yes, thats pretty much what a bump map is. except a displacement map actually changes the geometry so to speak, where a bump map gives the illusion of surface texture in regard to how light behaves on said texture.

Be good to see a virtual street scene made up in Fusion, with this idea. So by filming actors against green screen, you could then place them in a virtual set, all in resolve.

Very nice! Side note, I would really like to know how you did the displacement (or whatever it’s called, the wonky lines) in the lower part of the video during the short VHS effect? I recently edited a video where I added VHS effects, but I just couldn’t figure out how to do that at the bottom, and eventually ran out of time so I had to skip it. I would love to know how you did it.

there are quite a few filters that will do that, even free apps for mobile which do VHS looks.

Hey Casey ! I've just downloaded davinci resolve studio 17 and I don't know why but it struggles with some effects like "motion trails" or "stop motion" or any other effect . When I want to playback the clip where I've added the effect it struggles a lot . I've done all those tips to make davinci resolve work smoother and it still does't work ! I have even re-installed it but nothing changed . I don't think it's because of my computer , it has 16 gb ram , 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 . Do you have any solution to that ? 😭😩

Great tut but when I tried it on my computer it brought it to its knees - an i9 @ 4GHz with a P4000 GPU. Not the fastest machine but I was surprised how difficult Resolve found it to render (bringing the rest of Resolve to a standstill). Time for an M1 Max? lol

Please note to anyone using a Quadro GPU check your Memory size. My laptops GPU is a Quadro T1000 4gb. I can't use the 6k texture model or else fusion will crashing telling me GPU memory full. Go with a 3k texture instead!
@flipnap21123 жыл бұрын
6k textures are insanely too big and rarely needed. in the 3D world most people use VERY small texture sizes. if its a 6K texture you need for background video, probably should render a single frame and use it with green screen keying. to process a 3D 6K map is extremely graphics intensive. most 3D maps you see in games and some film are actually closer to 320*240 tiled, if even that big.
