I used to eat these as a kid Gareth... I must admit i quite liked them at the time... However, when i tried them as an adult years later... They didn't taste anything like i remembered them... It's the same with the Westler Tinned Burgers you tried the other day... I used to eat those too... I also had the Tinned Fray Bentos Meatballs... They just don't taste the same as when we were kids... Maybe it's just our taste buds that have changed over time... A bit like kids always hated eating their Vegetables... But as an adult we all quite enjoy them... Sometimes a memory of how good some foods tasted when growing up... Simply don't live up to expectations when we try them again years later... I remember as a kid... I used to love drinking Barr Tizer... Then a few years ago i saw some on offer in the supermarket... And i thought it would bring back some happy memories... So i bought them... But unfortunately they were a big disappointment... They should have just remained a happy childhood memory... Oh well it was a lesson well learnt... Thanks for the review Gareth... All the best... Cheers mate. 🍺

Really amusing. I’m surprised that you cooked them in a microwave - big mistake. In an oven the gravy is more congealed and they tend to be crispy on the outside. When I called into Prince Charles’s butchers on the Poundbury ‘Brace of Butchers’ they had some hand made ones. I must try them. They reminded me of balls of Sage and Onion Stuffing. Not eating liver, kidneys and offal as a whole is turning people into wimps, liver has fantastic nutritional value, better than burgers and takeways. Liver does need cooking properly though as it can become very dry. If you just lightly braise liver in a rich onion gravy then it takes up the flavour and is lovely with heaps of creamy mash, or you could try lambs liver, a more subtle taste. 30 years in the meat trade taught me we should utilise as much of the animal that has been killed to provide our food.

I made a comment on these earlier today but it appears my comment has been removed. It could be that I made reference to a KZbinr who is a butcher and showed how he made these. More probable however is the fact I used the word on the front of the box that begins with F and follows 4 Pork.... This word does have other connotations and was probably picked up by the YT algorithm and removed without anyone actually reading it. They are traditionally made with offal which includes liver, heart and lungs (lights). No wonder you pulled such a face. Still somebody has to do it. keep up the good work!

You should never EVER microwave them, they go to rubber chewy trash. Sorry pal the issue here was the cook not the food! In the oven they go nice and soft, serve them with a bit of extra gravy mushy peas and chips and they’re cracking👍

I absolutely love these, had them as a kid, still eat them, I would never microwave them though, invest the 55 minutes in the oven. Love the blogs.

I suspect that Brains have changed the recipe as when I ate these many years go they never had pieces of onion in them ( it was all ground up). They used to be quite tasty even though they had a tendency to fall apart.

Faggots are actually very nice - I’ve tried the brains product.. I think Iceland and Heron sell them. Found them very sludgy last time. Your much better off buying some nice “ savoury duck” from a butcher if your up north.. make your own onion gravy and simmer the savoury duck - which is cooked. Luvverrly! I enjoy your channel and have just subscribed 👋👍

Used to love them, now I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. It's the new owners trying to make as much profit as they can, freewheeling on hard-earned faith in the brand name.
