I loved Captain Barbosa in this film SO much. His "I don't give a SINGLE fuck about any of this" behavior in the beginning was so infectious to me. This is a man who literally has zero fear of death, because he's already been undead AND dead dead, but then brought back to life. So for him, this whole thing is a fucking holiday, and he's going to enjoy every second of it. So if that means he's going to be swinging from the riggings of a ship as it's sucked into a whirlpool while a thunderstorm rages overhead, he's going to laugh his fucking ass while doing it. Because what's the worst that could happen to him that hasn't happened already?! 🤣 Everyone else is running around him in a panic, he's just giggling and dancing like a lunatic. And it's FANTASTIC!

Both pairs provide interesting meta incites, odd discussions and commentaries, and humorous support. In fact, Murtogg and Mullroy actually replace Pintel and Ragetti as crew members. My head canon is Ragetti decided to replace Davy Jones as Calypso's lover (seeing as he spoke to her as one, and repeatedly showed he liked her before that) and Pintel is with his best friend in a supporting role, now all retired to some pleasant place where they can avoid getting shot at, turned into undead, beaten, drowned, or whatever... plus, unlike Davy Jones, Ragetti is patient, and could wait if Calypso misses a date.

She was in mid tirade and suddenly said, "Boat!" I was obviously confused. The divider wall between the lanes of traffic are especially high in this area, so you just don't see much. In this case, someone was hauling their yacht and that was all she saw. It rattled her so that was all she could say, telling me later that it looked like it was sailing and completely derailed her thoughts. We never got back to the argument. A few weeks later, this movie came out and since the first Pirates movie was one the movies we saw when we first started dating, we finished off the series by going to this, even though it was pretty apparent our relationship was at a close. 45:06 She's whatever what she wants to be. And I guess the point is that she's been trapped in one form for so long that she's now enjoying her freedom by breaking up into tiny pieces and returning to the ocean. The crabs are parts of her, and they are all her individually. And she's the one causing the storm - that's how powerful she is. She's still taking revenge on all of the current brethren court in revenge for the original brethren court for imprisoning her, but she's also taking revenge on Davy Jones for betraying her through creating the storm. But because they freed her she's arranged the winds to be on the side of the Black Pearl, while the waters will support the Flying Dutchman because she still loves Davy jones, so even though they're both at risk for the storm, she's also arranged it so that it'll be a fair fight.

- I recall someone pointing out that while William learned how to be a pirate from Jack, Elizabeth learned how to be a pirate from Barbossa. - Barbossa's Pirate Lord thingy isn't in the fake eye, it _is_ the fake eye. - yeah, Jack did not chop off Davey Jones' testicles. ... Though Calypso may have at some point.😆 - Davey Jones (and his crew) got all mutanty because Davey was skeeving off instead of doing his job of ferrying souls to the after life., As long as Will does the job, no mutations. - no, those 2 'pirate' guys at the end were the soldiers that were guarding Davey's heart. They decided their odds of survival were better pretending to be pirates among the other pirates than being soldier among all those pirates.

The crab is the symbol for Callipso, the goddess of the sea. So all the crabs that were in Davey Jones' Locker wrre sent to help her. Then later on when she turned into crabs when she changed from her earth bound form.

Captain Teague is Jack Sparrow’s dad, and he’s played by legendary rockstar Keith Richards. And this was something Johnny Depp was VERY excited about, because he actually based Jack Sparrow and the way he played the character ON Keith Richards.

This trilogy is fantastic, I know Depp will always be the mvp here, but imo he’s not the only one. Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have a perfect chemistry with him, and they create perfect characters on their own. And yes, I know there are two more movies, but I think they did a disservice to the characters, Jack included.

Here's something for you....at the time this was being filmed, Orlando Bloom (who played Will Turner) was dating Kate Bosworth who later went on to date Alexander Skarsgard, the son of Stellan Skarsgard who played Bootstrap Bill Turner (Will's father). Sort of like the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. As for a franchise, I did send you the Hobbit trilogy which is a prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy...the journey of Bilbo & the dwarves (one is Gimli's dad) where Bilbo finds the ring, there's a fight with a dragon (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) & ending with the battle of the 5 armies. Orlando Bloom is in it as Legolas with Lee Pace as his dad, King Thranduil. Pace you should recognize as Ronan from Guardians of the Galaxy & Captain Marvel So you can add that for some time in the future.

I dont know if anyone said it yet, but sadly they cut out the backstory of Jack and Beckett. During their conversation, when Jack agrees to lead the british to Shipwreckcove, that scene is much longer and gives a ton of backstory. ...Jack once worked as a captain for East India Company, on the cargo vessle "Wicked Wrench". One day he learned that his "cargo" would be slaves. So he defected and freed all the slaves. Telling Beckett (in that scene "People are not cargo, mate") When Beckett learned about this. He captured Jack and burned the P on his arm. As a punishment, Beckett made Jack watch the burning and sinking of his beloved "Wrench". After this, Jack went to Davy Jones and made his 13 years deal (we learned in the last movie). Jones raised the "Wicked Wrench" and Jack kept her in that burned and beaten up state, as a reminder. He renamed her Black Pearl and well....

I also like the theory the village they go to to meet Calypso is all the slaves he freed. And that’s why they were all sad after he died.

The number of slaves he freed was 100, which is why in the previous one he had to enslave 100 souls.

38:26 It's more that you can't keep the sea in one place. It never stops moving. She is a goddess of the sea - she as good as is the sea. She can't be tamed, kept or caught, she will always slip away. She's unpredictable, she may be calm one moment and wild the next, just as the sea is. The sea can be a sailor's best friend or his worst enemy but it won't be one thing for them. She may be where she said she'd be, she may not, there's no way of knowing, not even she will know. But the thing is.....he fell in love with her knowing that she was that unpredictable, maybe even because she was that unpredictable. While you see his perspective you have to ask yourself - what did he expect, knowing what she was, knowing who she was?

In a deleted scene (that I really wish was included in the DVD/Blu Ray release) that extends the discussion Jack and Beckett, the head of the East India company, have Beckett goes into why Jack ended up branded as a pirate and was eventually bound to Davy Jones. Jack was originally contracted by the East India Company to transport slaves to the new world; during the journey Jack's conscious won out and he broke the contract, took his ship (the Wicked Wench) to a free port and released all of the slaves. Jack was caught soon after and had his wrist branded, and Beckett had the Wicked Wench burned to cinders. Jack looks over at Beckett at that point in the story and says "people aren't cargo mate". Beckett continues the story, basically explaining that Jack then made his deal with Jones; his soul and service on the Dutchman, for getting his ship back (which would now be charred black and called the Black Peark) and thirteen years of freedom to sail the Pearl across the oceans to his heart's content.

Ashleigh--The song they're singing is about the first Bretheren Court, led by Davy Jones, capturing Calypso and binding her in human form. The lyrics are: "The King and his men stole the Queen from her bed...and bound her in her bones. The seas be ours, and by the powers...where we will, we'll roam!! Yo ho, haul together, hoist the colors high!! Heave ho, thief and beggar...never shall we die!! Some men have died, and some are alive...and others sail on the seas. Withe the keys to the cage, and the Devil to pay...we lay to Fiddler's Green!! (sing chorus again) The bell has been raised from its watery grave; can you hear its sepulchral tone?? It's a call to all; pay heed the squall...and turn your sails to home!! (sing chorus final time)"

Part of the scene where Jack and Beckett meet was cut. We learn that Jack used to work for Beckett as captain of a merchant ship. Once Beckett smuggled slaves on Jack's ship without his knowledge. He quit the company and became a pirate.
