A lot of people shit on this version since the new movie came out. They don't seem to realize it was made for network television and broadcast in prime time. Compare it to any other made for tv movie and it's a masterpiece. And I think they did a brilliant job of making it creepy/scary without needing to use a lot of excessive gore to do it.

You've seen Tim Curry in horror, in comedy, in a musical, now you need to see him in fantasy, for that, Legend, where he plays Darkness. I still listen to the soundtrack. And I don't think you've seen the Dark Crystal yet. Those are two I hope to see you get too! Happy Hallobeans, been a blast watching horror movies with you. The new IT is a remake, more gore/scares, a bit more following the book. This IT was a made for tv movie, so it wasn't as gory, but the jump scares win. I love this version, I think this Pennywise is better. More of the fake happy clown persona to lure you in then eat you. The new Pennywise is just all out scary, how's that lure you in? Also as other's have said, the book is really great, but it gets weird. And according to the book IT is an evil spider type thing while the creator of the universe is a giant space Turtle. It's hard to explain, you just gotta find time to read the book.

The book is clearer on It's true form: It's basically an ancient entity from outside the universe that is so beyond our understanding that the spider form is essentially the closest thing human minds can perceive it as. It's a nod to Cthulu mythos in that the 'Deadlights' are both the monster's home realm as well as the monster's true form. Looking into the Deadlights causes insanity, which is why Bill's wife became catatonic until the end.
@krannok3 жыл бұрын
The book is not clearer. There is no answer as to what It is, that idea of it being an alien from outside of the universe is just your impression. When I read the book, I got the impression that It is a god of some sort which accidentally came into being when the Turtle created the universe. It has no "home realm". The word "deadlights" was just an insane thought that passed through one of the kids' minds and they latched onto it and it shouldn't be read as a literal description of some kind of actual light-emitting organs. That's actually the thing which bugged me the most about this film - they gave the impression that It had a rational origin, that it was spider-shaped, and that it had some kind of silly lights to look at. Just goes to show how differently different people can read a book.

"You hair is Winter Fire. January Embers." The thing that irks me about the Miniseries is they didn't even make her hair RED like it was supposed to be. That's one thing I was so much happier with the remakes/new adaptations. They got an actual redhead pair to portray the fiery Beverly Marsh. Also, the reason Bev was with an abuser still is because when you suffer trauma like Beverly or Eddie, you find yourself repeating patterns of said abuse. So both Eddie and Beverly were stuck in those situations, though in the new movie Part 2, they show Eddie is married to Myra who is basically his mother but blonde, he even calls her "Mommy" on accident. Also, when you watch IT (2017) or Chapter 1, watch how they leave the Blood Oath, it shows who is going to die in order.

@gimmethunder3 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was so much that IT doesn't let them see, but more that, as grown ups, they don't believe in monsters and things that go bump in the night, so it's harder for them to see it. The movie they were watching in the theater when Richie spilled the soda on the bullies is I Was A Teenage Werewolf. It's from 1957 and starred Michael Landon as the lead character (the werewolf). Michael would find fame on tv shows like Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven until his death from pancreatic cancer in 1991. My mom actually had the movie on VHS when I was a kid and it's one of my favorite classic horror movies. They actually have it here on KZbin if you wanna check it out sometime.

On Thursday November the 15th of 1990 I went into my mothers room to administer her meds just after 9p.m. and found her dead. She was a big Stephen King fan. "IT" was originally aired as a 2 part mini-series with the first part airing 3 days later on Sunday the 18th while we were having my mothers visitation. The 2nd part aired on Tuesday the 20th, the day after we buried her. I was trying to get an acting career together a few years ago and got an audition script for the part of Pennywise in the 2017 production. Food for thought Ashleigh. Also... okay... I guess with the beard John Ritter looks a bit like Richard Karn. He also looks like JOHN RITTER who played Jack Tripper in the classic sitcom "Three's Company" and also was in "8 Simple Rules".
