Thanks! So I made a goof in the title and explanation, it’s actually the FAS Express, which is another variation on the same amp, the Trainwreck. They’re all worth spending some time with. Beautiful tones to be had!

Man I love the FAS amps they really are hidden gems in there that most overlook my main sound is using the FAS crunch man its amazing! it works really well for the fusion style music I write

Yes!! The FAS Crunch was my main amp until recently. Lately I’ve really been liking the combo of a slightly broken up FAS Wreck boosted by the BB drive. Really awesome sound and very sensitive to volume changes on the guitar. I can get it it to go from fairly clean with my guitar volume on 4 to all out shred at 10!

I still come back to the Ecstacy tones! I really like that amp for rhythm guitar tracks.

@@ColinGaileyGuitar right on haven't really used it for rythm just lead or melody center guitar I mostly use electric piano,acoustic piano ,synth and pads for my stereo image actually if ya wanna hear the euro blue used really really well listen to Owanes album Yeah Whatever or anything he does is amazing

Great tone, Colin! Thank you for the explanations. I've just dialed it at my Axe-FX I normally use a Tape Drive between the AMP and the CAB. I will try that Downward Expander.

Thanks Manuel! I like to use that tape drive between the amp and can sometimes as well. In that case I usually put the gate right after the amp. Really cleans up the sound!

I’m really glad I discovered your channel Colin, I really love your content with the axefx3 and your lesson content. I’m really interested in what you did with the parametric eq to fatten higher register notes, is there any chance you could put something up with more details about how you set this up?

Julian so glad you found the channel and the content is resonating! Regarding the PEQ to fatten the high notes, it’s as simple as attaching a pitch follower in the modifier menu. Set frequency somewhere between 300-450hz, gain of 3-4, q value about 1.2. You can experiment with the start, mid, and end points in the modifier as well. It may take some time to find what works best for your instrument but I think the results are worth the effort!

Works out well on my rig with minor tweaking, for example my EJ pickups needed more bass. One oddity: The amp you used appears to be the FAS Express, not the Wreck.

Great to hear you got it working well with your rig! Good catch, it was the FAS Express! I was auditioning both the Wreck & Express but forgot I actually ended up with the Express. Doh! 🤦🏻‍♂️ As far as I understand, the Wreck & Express are both based on the same amp, with some of Cliff’s modifications. Would love to get some more details from Cliff about his alterations in the FAS amps. Great stuff!
