Damn Pikachu vs Yoshi has always been a slobber knocker over the series. 64: even Melee: even Brawl: Yoshi loses to Pikachu Smash 4: even or. Yoshi slightly beats Pikachu Ultimate: even I hope this legendary rivalry continues.

Pika def won vs Yoshi in Smash 4. Same in Ultimate. Only slightly though.

@@MikiziB ESAM doesn't know about the mu and if he doesn't know, especially when he thinks Pika beats the majority of the cast then you know its an interesting mu. We don't see the mu in Ultimate enough to know who wins.

Damn Axe's training with AmSa payed off. Last game was insane because Axe knew to quick attack to steal AmSa's jump. Also for Scar saying our "low tier heroes", these guys have proven over the years that these two characters are high tiers at this point.

I think Scar's statement holds some truth though, both of the players are pretty much lone representatives of their characters in rankings which means that its more a matter of their personal skill with the character than chars objective power level among the whole melee scene. In the same way, Shiek is widely accepted as one of the strongest characters even if nobody's beaten a major with her.

@@kaaaaos I do agree with the skill thing, but they have proven that their characters are not as bad as once thought. If you are able to change matchups then IMO you have proven that your character is better then originally perceived, just look at the outdated matchup charts on Smashwiki. Remember both Falcon and Jiggs were seen as mid tiers before being seen as top tiers. Hell Falcon gets joked around as bad, to the point Hax$ dropped him for Fox and Jiggs wasn't seen as viable until Mango, now Hbox is her only consistent best player to tournaments. Last thing, Mango and Plup are considered more skill players, but werent able to get far with characters such as mario and samus, who plup is still considered the best samus. I will give him props for that liugi run though. Remember Axe and AmSa have been placing consistently for years with these characters to change the meta and show the true potential.

@@mandalorianhunter1 I don't disagree with how the perception of one character's capabilities or skill ceiling has changed through the years but I feel like you can't compare Mang0 or Plup to Axe and Amsa, latter having put decades of practice into a single, underrepresented and off-meta character. Anyways, my point was more about how every character's placement in tier lists is based on their impact on the scene as a whole - lone champions like ones mentioned would have to be considered outliers if their success is based on their personal talent, something which other players haven't been able to recreate with the same character. (for comparison, we can see how multiple Falcons are able to place highly with very different styles, same with Puff to a lesser extent but still within top 100 rankings.)

@@kaaaaos I wasn't trying to compare them that way. Also remember Plup started off as Samus player before going Sheik and Fox. Yeah that's true, but it makes sense when you think about it. If we can't see for ourselves that a character is good then why should we accept it? In 64, their is a strong chance that Yoshi and Jiggs will surpass Fox because those two characters player base have been doing better in tournaments while Fox players consistently don't anymore. Same with Mario where most of the great players left him, Nintendude ironically going Fox and Czar hardly coming out as much. Hell a lot of people considered 64 the only game Mario was good in until 4 came out.
