AxeFx II Gainy Clip 2 USB Direct

I had nothing to do Friday night, so I stayed in my hotel room and made a clip.
This is the AxeFx II going direct to my MacBook via USB and into Logic Pro 9.
I created a preset based on the Marsha Amp sim.
There is no EQ being used in Logic.

Finally there is a good modeling unit that does NOT muffle the tone to hide the bee hive buzz. This sounds very very good!!

I wish these would hit the mass market and come down in price. This vid was the the first thing to make me really notice the potential for a rack guitar modeler and it just kept getting better. It really sounds like a mic'd amp through a mic pre into a compressor and all that lol. I caught myself being fooled when someone didn't post that it was the Axe FX and I thought it was such a great recording of an amp. If you make a GOOD preset, it is as good as any amp. Thanks for these demos.

so hard to say no to the axefx. Been a tube guy my whole life and sworn enemy of the lesser digital "crap" haha but man axefx is just on another level. In a blind test it's nearly impossible to say if this was a tube amp or not. Another huge bonus is how easy it is to record.

Wow man, a lot of people is talking very well about this axe fx 2... I m very happy with a cornford hellcat and cornford 2x12 set up ... always been a plug and play guy, not so much into digital stuff but now...I dont know, maybe things have changed....welcome to the future...

I think this is the best you've sounded through any amps. I'm not surprised it sounds good compared to the old Axe because that's the point, but I am surprised that I like it so much. I'd totally accept listening to this direct sound at a gig. It brings out your dynamics, and you are a hell of a player and it seems to translate well for you.

@MrLevent79 This was recorded via USB into the computer. You can play through your computer speakers if you want and the AxeFX 2 sounds great at low volumes. I usually use powered speakers or a power amp into guitar speaker cabs. For this demo I was straight into the MacBook Pro via USB and I used Logic Pro 9 for the DAW, I monitored what I was playing through the MacBook's little speakers and it sounded great in the room :)

@arstocker Do hammer-ons and pull-offs on one string with your left hand and slide the palm of your right hand down the neck while muting the string slightly. Try it on different strings and around certain frets to get different harmonics.

Sounds like a lot cleaner (less gainy) of a patch than you normally use! Not like it would lack clarity tho... your Ultra videos had the biggest Gain:Clarity ration I've ever seen lol

@LelandNelson I think maybe because of a high pass on the channel delay. I've had that happen on the Eleven Rack before because my high pass was too high for low chords to sound doubled properly...

The thing I noticed with this unit is that usually with Peavey or L6 modeling technology, you get excess picking noise when you have that much reverb. Not so with the axe II. That tone sounds like a cross between Warren Dimartini and EVH. Great playing and thx for showing the axe's dynamics ability with the sliding palm mute. Does it sound the same thru speakers?

Hi Mark. Was saving money to buy mesa boogie Mark V. But after listening to you 1000 times, now considering getting an Axe FX II. So I guess I will need to purchase speakers as well. Did you record this directly into the computer? I am not a pro, want to play in my aparment without driving neighbors crazy. Can I still get such good sounds from axe fx at low volume? @marcanb28 try a axe fx and a pod x3 on a same and same sound amp and you hear that the pod x3 is not very clear sounding when you play some hi gain.i have sell my pod x3 and now i have a ADA mp1 preamp and this axe fx will be my next stuff to buy or maybe a g-system..=)

OH ALSO people need to understand that when some plays an AXE FX using a Hondo II it doesn't sound as good as it will using a SUHR guitar so some people may not like it because they dont have a nice guitar
