Nice look at the axles! I was considering both of these. I run Xtraspeed ones myself, and I'm probably going to stick with them and get another set.

I run the front and rear complete set. Local hobby store carries the replacements and are available online from asia tees. Highly recommend them boom axles.

Agree completely. They are extremely durable. My son has beat on them a ton and they just take. Definitely more durable than the SSD was for us. I have seen more people have issues with the SSD failing in the metal tubes. I do like the SSD ones and they take a little beating but the Boom ones definitely win the durability award between the two of them.

Axle Twister RC Yah me and my local hobby crew all run them and we beat on them hard. Glad we run these, and from your experience i can steer people away from the ssd and continue to recommend these. Cant say enough about them, easy to work on, cheap replacement parts and quality are remarkable.

Good long term review of the ssd axle housing. I haven't tried them on any of my rigs yet so it is something to keep in mind. I like beefy parts

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I plan on a long time review of the Boomracing housings also. They however have had a good amount of people give feedback. Everyone drives different so it's good to know how things do when used hard.

The SSD Axle Housings for SCX10 one, totally different animal... Mine are 5 years old and still in perfect condition! My SCX10 II - is the Raw Builder's Kit, and came with the ONE PIECE Axles. I'm just not a fan. The Rear Axle, yes, I'd probably keep it. One piece and no Lockouts on each end looks very Scale. 👍👍 The one piece Front, problem! Because the Chubs are part of the Axle.... To have a good Driveshaft Angle, leaves me with *Negative Caster!!* 😡😖 Horrible for side hilling. That's been an ongoing problem with quite a few people. I'd love to find an original 3 piece Front Housing, dirt cheap, preferably free... Just so I can get my Alignment in order. I've heard great things about the Boom Racing Axles. Quality stuff! And Cody, being a Boom Racing Dealer, should get fair deals, as soon as I can afford to buy Anything. I know this is older, but I hope that the Axles are holding up better than the SSD did. Which I'm surprised, I've had great experience with their products. Carmine ✈🚂🚙

Yes the Boom axles are holding up terrific. Absolutely no problems. We have beat the hell out of them. In terms of a plastic front axle I can definitely hook you up with one of those shortly. You will have to remove the guts from the one piece one you have. But I can definitely get you the housing C-hub and knuckle in plastic. Send me a email at audio18man@gmail.com with your address.

He has beat on them fairly hard since I made this video and the Boom ones have take the beating without a single issue.

How are they holding up now 9 months later?
@axletwisterrc45264 жыл бұрын
Outstanding! Absolutely no problem with them. They make the SSD ones look like a joke.

How about the turning radius do they still have the 45°turning radius compared to the factory axle

Turning radius is unchanged

Did you use loctite on the axle tubes of the SSD?
@axletwisterrc45265 жыл бұрын
Yes. I have also seen more of this from other people since this video was done. I have even seen the tubes on the SSD housings split. The tubes are just lower quality than they should be. They should use higher quality metal and charge a little more money for them.

@@axletwisterrc4526 Thats a shame, I was going to use these axles on my rig, however I drive very carefully and it has a Crawlmaster Pro brushed motor so it's not a super powerful rig. I'm just tired of stripping out the C hubs on the stock axle and having to replace the entire axle.
@axletwisterrc45265 жыл бұрын
Honestly you would most likely be fine. If you drive on the easier side of things and stay brushed they would probably last you. I would put them in a rig that stayed brushed without much hesitation. The Booms are more durable but in the application you are talking about I would use the SSD ones if that is what you are liking.

Xtra speed axle housings my friend. I beat 5he heck out of my rig no issue's.
@axletwisterrc45265 жыл бұрын
Yes. I was going to get the Xtra speed ones but they need some of the paint removed for bearing fitment from my understanding. I also couldn't get them in the states at the time I needed them. They was all shipping from China. I try to support #DixielandRC as much as possible and they had them in stock. Thanks for bringing up the Xtra Speed axle housings they are a great alternative at a great price.
@stpbasss37735 жыл бұрын
Yup I broke three stock axles in a month on my Yeti until I got the Xtra speed metal one and it is solid know and it adds some much needed rear end weight.

Most likely hit something. The design without question would be more durable with 4 screws. I'm after the most durable at a decent price. Alot of people have different experiences and expectations. SSD didnt meet mine on this instance. I'm not bashing the SSD ones by any means. I like them and in a different situation they would be great. Maybe we got a bad tube. Brushless has a way of finding weak spots especially with a throttle happy 7year old lol.

Ssd modular axles are for crawling, not bashing. Continued hard knocks will loosen the joints and create failure. For bashing single piece axles are the go. That said ssd are the best for highly customized builds
