I really enjoyed this. I love that you incorporated different elements to the test IE running the tires through the sand to add to the challenge. I also really like the technical side you show when navigating the rocks when there is a drop-off and when the bumpers get hung up. I feel the Axial did better than the traxxas, great video. I will be watching more of your stuff.

@Nankin Hobby and everyone else for that matter. My son and I run TRX4s and (I have a Blazer and he has a sport) and my favorite feature is the overall toughness of these rigs. I have yet to replace a single part breakage. My question is, is the Basecamp as durable as the TRX4? I'm looking at getting one for my youngest son so he doesn't want dad's all the time.

I think most of the durability with the TRX-4 comes from the fact that it’s a crawler. That will be true of most crawlers. We just had a course set up last weekend at Toledo Jeep Fest, with several demo crawlers set up for people to play with. 95% of the traffic was from kids, some as young as 3 or so, and between our 12ish rigs we broke a total of maybe 3 parts over 2 fulls days of kids rotating them out and abusing them. We had a couple of TRX-4s in the mix, as well as our Base Camp, and neither necessarily seemed to be better in the durability aspect (both were fantastic). Crawlers are fairly slow moving, so they aren’t usually subject to the same sort of stuff that really breaks most cars. Servos are a common fail point, but that will be true regardless of brand. I think either way you go, you would be more than satisfied.

I can't speak for the Basecamp, but my XCS10 II has been beaten repeatedly by a 4yo and still lives. I only armored the bottom because I wanted the diffs protected. I used the Injora skid plate kit.

It's tough to make an overall judgement, they definitely both have their pros and cons. At the end of the day, "out of the box" is always going to have it's flaws, but they're both pretty capable rigs with their own advantages, and their own out-of-the-box pitfalls.

If you go by points then the Axial wins. If you go by just the video and the struggles each truck had, the win still goes to the Axial truck in my opinion. We also didn't get to see the Axial from the side as much as we did the traxxas but still Axial. If you really want to see a good comp video of the 2 then go to RC reviews, the rocks they climb with these are nuts.

Why are you running 2 cell, that's not enough wheel speed for many situations in comp crawls ?

Well, we kind of wanted to highlight some of the downfalls in performance as well as just the pros, and thought that maybe on 3S they might just push through things they wouldn't on 2S. That was our justification, anyway. We also just had a stack of 2S packs available, while our 3S packs were being used in other vehicles at the time - which means we have more cool content coming! So, stay tuned haha.

Green just doesn't look right IMO. its very difficult to find a nice cheap green other than Kawasaki.
