Axis & Allies Global 40 Maps by Ambilzi and Young Grasshopper

This video will show you 2 different kinds of finishes for the same map file which will help you choose the one that's right for you.
The map files were painstakingly created by Ambilzi and Young Grasshopper. My map was an alternate version of their map created by using their map files by Cyanight. I chose this one because of the choice of roundels and because the sea zone between the UK and Europe had been expanded so that you could fit more ships.

Is the battle board designed in the board, because it is getting rid of a couple sea zones. Just wondering because I cannot tell on the JPEG images

Yes it is. It has never been an issue as far as covering the sea zones. You can still see partial sea zones and those zones are very seldom used (if ever). That's why Grasshopper chose to put it where he did.

Seems like it's bright enough, just needs more contrast. Miles better than the glossy version though, nice work!

To be fair, I think the version you had printed was a modified version of mine and Ambilzi's done by Cyanight (just to give due credit). Great video comparing the two materials... good job!

Hi GeneralHandGranade What material is you map printed on? and do you know if you can print it in a material that would be nice for transportation, let's say you can roll it up and stuff without it getting ruined.

It was some kind of vinyl 2-way window sign material. After the print was done there was a cold matte laminate layer adhered to the front to protect the print. It rolls up nicely and can be transported in a tube.

How thick is your map? is it like the out of box cardboard game? and what dimensions?

The map is about the same thickness as the cardboard map from the game and can be easily rolled up to transport. You can get it printed off to be any size you want. You will want to make sure that you have a table big enough to fit your map if you're going to make it larger than the cardboard ones you get in the box.

I am sorry if I did not catch the size of the newer board but could you tell me the dimensions, I am looking at making my own and would like to have the dimensions so I could start on building a table around the size

If I remember correctly it is aprox. 77 inches long. You can make it any size you want just remember to keep the same scale so it the width corresponds with the length.

That would still bother you on a sunny day. The reason I could go with the paper for the better colours is that the cold laminate just goes on the top side and then the paper would be exposed underneath and on the sides. The hot laminate encloses the paper on all sides so it is sealed.

Hi, can you tell me the dimensions of this map in inches or centimetres so I can get a quote from my local printer? Also, any recommendations on a good material to print it on?

The regular dimensions of the map are 32" x 72". You can get it printed out to whatever size you want though but make sure that if you increase or decrease the size that you do it proportionately. Your printer can do that for you. I would talk to the printer about what they recommend that you print it on. Each one has it's own materials that it uses and can give you low-down on each type of material. I would steer towards something vinyl. Get them to show you the materials that they have and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each one. Hey GHG, I got the file but thanks for being willing to help. I do have a question for you. Have you ever seen or have a strategy for taking the U.S. with Germany and Japan?

@@jasonberry2065 I haven't seen an actual strategy for that. The American player would have to be asleep or incompetent to let that happen so really it's just a lucky break that you take advantage of and not an actual strategy. To commit resources to that would mean to lose the game if it didn't work out and like I said it's easy for the American player to stop.

The whole point of doing it is to get rid of the creases. Folding it will give you creases.

I was making a video last night and could really appreciate the extra room from the slightly larger size. It was just a matter of measuring my table and seeing how large I could go and still have room on the sides to put my shit down.

Just make sure that they keep the same proportions length x width or it will come out a little distorted.
