Axminster Woodturning: Essential SK88 Chuck - Woodworking Wisdom

I bought a Proxxon micro lathe from Axminster a few years ago. It's great fun. But I'd love to see a session on them especially with some ideas on what to do with them. (Atm I just use mine for miniature goblets and wands).

I missed the live feed but I have looked forward to viewing this video. As a new turner I initially purchased a cheap Ebay lever adjusted chuck. It was in my opinion quite dangerous. (Insecure clamping, loose threads, no stop screws if you open too far, and it seems that the jaws always protrude outside of the base making a significant rotating hazard. For most of my turning the compact Axminster design keeps the jaws internally and seems safer. I bought an SK80 after watching an older Axminster video and I can't imagine using another chuck for my projects. I believe that my SK80 will last as long time for my use. Your information leads me to get a 100 as I grow my turning skills rather than an 88 (as an additional chuck) at this time. Thanks!

Will the jaws for the SK88 fit the Clubman 80. Also will they be available in Canada.

Hi there, yes they do! The Axminster Woodturning Essential SK88 range of jaws are compatible with the Clubman SK80 Chuck. The Essential SK88 Jaws will also fit our Clubman & Evolution SK100 Chucks as well as our Evolution SK114 Chuck, providing the SK88 Mounting Jaws are used. Hope this helps.
