I met Brett when I was working as a tow truck driver in 96.. towed his pick up from San diego to Ventura with him and his body guard.. He bought us Jack in the box and tipped me $40 ... Very nice guy and considering the long ride in a flatbed tow truck cab not really meant for 3 full grown men he was very gracious and dealt with me being a bit star struck lmao.. He even helped run the controls to unload the truck !!

True story… It was the summer of 1986… The hotel outside of Dallas was called the Anchor Inn… Neil Zlozower and I stood about 50 feet away when that phone called happened… I knew her… He was pissed and hurt for sure… Bret’s a truly great person… Straight shooter that fame didn’t ruin… He’s still the same person he was pre-fame and success… Good for him!

I worked for the PUC for a couple weeks that summer. I was getting ready to meet a buddy at Sonny Bryan's for dinner when a call came in: I would have to take care of a broken payphone as soon as possible. I was about as angry as I had ever been, because my friend had been on an aircraft carrier for months dodging missles after crossing "The Line of Death." It turns out, that was the very payphone Bret would use to make that fateful call, and without my timely intervention, we would never have had his classic ballad, and, in all likelihood, no one would have ever heard of a walking-L boy band named Poison.

I was backstage at a few concerts back in the 80’s and Bret was the nicest artist that I ever met. Keep in mind this was at the peak of their fame and he could’ve had a huge ego or be stressed out and tired after a show but wasn’t . Just a nice dude all around.

Not only Bret but all 4 members in the band were as cool as they come. Being a musician playing in a band myself back then there was a local Cleveland rock/metal club I used to play, party & hang out all the time at with the owner of the club. One day the club owner called me up for a favor & asked me if I could pick up this band named Poison at the airport that he booked that night to play. Which of course I told him no problem, it's all good I'm on my way. When I got to the airport it wasn't a mystery who they were as they exited the gate. I hollered at them & told em' I was their ride, shook hands & went on our way. From then on I immediately felt like I was one of their buddies picking them up, that's how cool they were. However, I hate to play favorites but between Bret, Bobby, Rikki & C.C. my cat & all that was definitely Bobby Dall. Me & Bobby instantly bonded having a mutual connection & friendship with good old no.7 Jack. After their gig that night we were both so sloppy drunk with a 5th of Jack Daniels in our hands. We left the club & started walking down the street to the hotel they were staying at singing Looney Tunes in unison. "How Dry I Am, Nobody Knows, How Dry I Am." 😂🤣 Blah,ha!! As the wife of a veteran with cancer from the burn pits in Iraq, as the mother and MIL of veterans over there with him at the time, my fear is for all these young 19-30 year olds over there who have similar health risks. My 53 yr old husband wasn’t looking for signs of cancer but my son and DIL, now 40 and 43, and their fellow soldiers around the same age, are even less likely to be looking. I’m terrified for them all, but my Dad was in a B24 bomber flying from England to France over D-Day, made repeated trips over the channel when the planes were so laden with fuel and bombs they could barely get off the runway at Royal Air Force Rackheath, being a daughter of a WWII veteran, my appreciation for how Bret has always honored our soldiers has made me proud to be a fan. I used to have a Bret Michael door poster on the back of my door at work. If I still had it, it would be on a door somewhere in my house now!

I have met Bret a few times. He is one of the coolest guys in music. He always remembered who I was and was always nice to me. I seen poison play 42 times. I took a picture of him and his friend who passed away years ago in Greensboro NC. And it took me 13 years to give him his picture I had it blown up to a 10 by 13 for him of him and his friend who passed away. And he was such a gentleman about me saving and taking care of it to give it him.

I was in Minnesota about 5 years ago for a football game. Bret Michaels was playing a free show right outside the stadium the day before. He did this thing where he brought veterans from the crowd up on stage. I got to go up on stage and stood with him. He shook my hand and gave me a hug... I glanced over & saw him for a split second. I know he does hang out in a Nashville too because I saw this big picture banner of him downtown hanging from a building no doubt having to do with music,like a radio station or something. I met & seen a few stars from there. I even spoke to the cute blonde lady from trick pony in the Super market. Kimberley Paisley walked right by me in a Publix I worked at for a short time. His music was part of the soundtrack for my late teenage years in the late 80's / early 90's. It was beyond awesome to hear them all over top 40 radio and see them all over MTV. Those first 3 Poison albums with C.C. DeVille on lead guitar and then the Native Tongue album with Richie Kotzen replacing C.C. -- just pure rock n' roll greatness! How Bret did it all while managing a serious disease like type 1 diabetes is a tall order, but kudos to him for doing just that. He's a stand-up guy in more ways than one.

I meet Brett in Charlavoix Michigan at the Castle, In 1988 ,Poison we're opening for David Lee Roth, Very down to earth guy, super friendly, even though it rained during the outdoor show, signed my ticket, which I still have today

I worked w Bret on his movie No Code of Conduct. During that time, we spent a lot of time in the ADR and Mix Stage. It was a crazy time. Late 90's... Charlie was in the news, A LOT. But I can verify that Bret was this cool back then. He was one of three people that kept my romance w the studio manager a secret from the studio owner at the time. She and I have been married for 25 yrs. Happy for ya Bret. Hope to see ya again. Maybe on the mix stage. Cheers 🍻

Wrong. There's no reason for bands like Poison to complain. During the 1990's Gun's & Roses, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Kiss still sold a million records & played arenas. It's all about good music vs bad music.

Poison was always great. Bret must of all. Part of the hair metal thing but they would have been just as successful in any decade with those songs. Dress those tracks up with different production and they still sell. Great songs are great songs.

I was never big into Poison as a teenager, I was more into Priest, Megadeth etc…BUT I have a TON of respect for the guys in that band, they have stayed true to themselves and the fans, and wear that proudly. They have gone through a lot of crap, and have learned from it, and have become better men for it. Now, I don’t change the radio when they come on HairNation, like I did when I was a kid….Ill listen to them.

I did not love Poison but I highly respect and admire Bret. He is quite intelligent, poignant, articulate, and can be both serious and funny.... .and I do love "Every Rose". I loved him on Chris Isaak's show.

Funny and short story: I was at the MTV awards in LA at the then universal amphitheater at Universal Studios Park. We had cheap seat tickets but the place as crawling with rock stars and celebrities. I had gone to go to the bathroom and when I went to the nearest men's room, there were about 15 pretty girls standing outside - it confused me caused I thought they were waiting to get into their bathroom. Eventually I slipped my way in and went to a urinal to take a piss, and at the next urinal I first noticed a Corona beer balanced on the edge of the urinal, with a guy with long blonde hair also taking a leak - blonde hair guys were a dime a dozen in L.A. Being a fan of Poison and having watched their meteoric rise to fame in the L.A. clubs, I recognized that it was Bret. I had just seen Poison recently opening for RATT in my hometown San Bernardino - about an hour away. RATT did not sound well that night but the opening act Poison was clearly the hungrier band and played much better. After we washed our hands I told Bret about this and he was genuinely appreciative and clearly wanted to talk more to a nobody like me. I told him how well he and his band had sounded that night and he broke out laughing cause the guy with him happened to be his sound man, and they both got a kick out of that. After a few minutes of small talked I wished him continued success which he was so grateful for, and I warned him that there were about 15-20 girls outside waiting for him. I walked out first and as I was walking back to my seat, I heard the shrieks of girls as Bret was exiting the men's room. I looked back and he gave me a thumbs-up as if to say, "What a life!" Bret is as genuine as it gets. No pretenses with this guy.

Loved him on The Aprentiss and he was great as a judge on Guy's Grocery Games when Guy's son Hunter, had his 25th birthday party. I would love for him to become a permanent judge on Triple G. He is such a down to earth guy . Wish more of the guys from 80's hair metal, turned out to be truly great fathers, husbands and people in general. God bless him and I wish him continued success.❤
