@ I had tried several times to quit on my own. Within a few days I’d be right back to the tequila. One Monday, got home hung over AGAIN. Totally disgusted with myself. I got down on my knees and asked God to forgive me for ever letting my addiction get that bad, and asked Him to deliver me from it. He did right then and there. I got up off my knees and the cravings were gone. I’ve never had an urge to drink since.

@@SedB101 For me, I had a desire to change, and a very patient wife who supported my decision to get clean. She put up with my worst qualities and still had faith in me. I also distanced myself from the triggers that would get me in the mood to drink. Which also helped with my quitting smoking. Which honestly was harder than the alcohol.

I was a KISS kid since Alive came out. All my posters and clippings went to the curb 40 years ago. I still like the music but over the years had gotten sick of all the bickering between past and present members and usually ignored them. Thank you Gene for this interview. I can now look at you again. Classy interview and the respect for his mother is beyond reproach.

I could say I wasn't arrogant and from a big family. It did take most of my life to learn to just appreciate things more. You think you do when you're young, but it does take every day of life to learn. I don't think you really know a whole lot till at least after 48-49. You really start to put things in perspective. About 47, I felt little depressed, like I wasted my life and could have done more. I felt out of time to do some things. You really want to treasure life.
