Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born Dutch activist is the founder of the AHA Foundation which works to bring an end to honour killings and related violence around the world; a former member of the Dutch parliament; and author of best-selling books Nomad, Infidel and Heretic: Why Islam Needs a Reformation Now.
Internationally renowned activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali spoke at the Centre for Independent Studies about her book, Heretic. She joined us to share her thoughts on the current challenges faced by liberal democracies in an era of jihad and mass migration.

I remember reading 'Infidel'. My friend was murdered by his own father, for refusing an arranged marriage and for leaving Islam, in 1993. He was 17. Ayaan's book broke down all the apologists' excuses, that what happened to my friend was "nothing to do with Islam", "Culture, not religion": her book and my subsequent study of Quran and Hadiths showed that my friend's father was perfectly within the law of Sharia, in carrying out the murder of his own son, who was pushed from a high building. They got away with it. The verdict was "suicide". Political correctness let down my friend even after his death. Thank you Ayaan for your bravery.

Thank you for the talk. There is blurring between Islam and Muslims in that elements of Islam are present in Muslims mindset and behaviours through its teachings/indoctrination. This overlap varies from person to person which outsiders cannot distinguish. The core problem is the religion itself and furthermore the prevention of free thinking through the threat of violence. Matters are made worse by politics as through appeasement and looking the other way in exchange for a vote bank which increases further with relaxed border control. If the religion was invented today, I suspect it would be banned.

As a European I find it a pity that European leaders don't take people like Ayaan seriously and I'm ashamed that European leftists and green/ecologist politicians are stabbing democracy in the back by introducing muslims into politics without thinking about the consequences.. Last year the ecolo party in Belgium wanted a woman of moroccan descent to lead the institute for equality between men and women. A french speaking liberal disagreed with the proposal because she wears a veil. This is in contradiction with the principle of separation between church and state.. The ecologists made a tantrum but then state security stepped in and produced a dossier/file in which was proven that the lady (Ihsane Haouach) has indirect contact with the anti-western, terror organization, muslim brotherhood.. She stepped down. Until this day ecolo still insists that her credentials and capabilities were okay.. It's too crazy for words.. Read about the life of Mohammad, and there was nothing, as a human being, that I can say Muhammad was a good person, nothing at all. When I compared his life to the life of Jesus, the difference was like the distance between heaven and earth. Now, you compared the action of a government to a faith. To be fair in comparison, we must compare the philosophy of faith to another faith, here I am willing to compare Islam to all the other faiths and in detail. If we compare America in Iraq, and Afghanistan to the Muslim Empire, it started about 650 Ad, they took Baghdad and made it their Capital, then forced the people of the land by the sword to convert to Islam, the majority of today's Iraq were Christians and Jews and Yazidi, today they are Muslims and forced the Arabization on the local Christians of today's Iraq, like Al Jabour, Al Tikreety. Al Samaraue ,and on and on. Then they forced their way by killing thousands all the way to Spain and ruled it for 500 hundred years. Then invaded the people of Marakish and went with the power of Sword all the way to Europe, during the Ottoman Empire. Killed 1.5 million Armenian in 1915 and 700 thousand Assyrians Christians and 250 thousand Greeks Christians. The Muslim hands are covered with blood throughout the history of Islamic expansion. So comparing country to country, we can say, they were not following the teaching of Christ. Because Christ demanded no killing, regardless of the reasons. In Islam, the government and the teaching of Mohammad are one and the same. Mohammad said if you kill one man, it is like you are killing all mankind, BUT DID NOT STOP THERE, HE SAID, BUT YOU CAN KILL IN Defending OF YOUR MUSLIM FAITH OR IF Your FAITH WAS GOING TO BE ATTACKED. Ultimately, HE ALLOWED KILLING AS LONG AS IT SERVE HIS GOAL OF EXPANSION, BUT JESUS SAID KILLING IS FORBIDDEN REGARDLESS OF THE REASON. AND SAID, GOD IS THE ONLY HIGH POWER TO DECIDE OF SOUL, NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE THE GIFT OF GOD, Which IS A SOUL. NOW...Muhammad killed thousands, regardless of his reason, killing is forbidden. Jesus never killed, never forced himself on a girl or s child of 6 years or 9, never invaded, never stole and took the spoils of invasion from others. Never got married to 30 women and never took his son's wife, and never killed the family then forced himself on the dead man's wife. Mohammad did all and worse than that. So, how can you say the Muslim faith is at peace? From the inception of Islam until now, is killing and killing. Sex, sex in every page of your Quran. You do not find that Christianity faith. But you can find it in the foundation of Islam. Then he said if you die in the name of Islam, there will be waiting for you 72 virgins, wine, honey, and little boys too. As if, God has prostitution for Muslims in Paradise. Wake up, man. Islam is evil. Come to your senses. If a country calls itself Christian and does not follow the teaching of Christ, that is not Jesus' teaching. However, the foundation of Islam is demanding to kill in the name of God, it is the Muslim way of teaching. By the way. I am a good man and a God-fearing man too. It was meant by Thomas Jefferson as a way to protect people from the state imposed "official religion" or "denomination". like for example in England they had the "Church of England", in russia the Russian Orthodox church is in fact the official church of the state and it uses its status to throw its weight around. Thomas Jefferson never meant it as "politics should be separate from faith"... ALL of the founding fathers were deeply religious, not only that, but they spoke openly about their faiths. if they believed the way democrats do today, they would not have been quoting the Bible in their speeches and speaking about their faith all the time.

im dutch and i agree the polarization is self evident. from a cultural educational and fundamental perspective muslims/islam but also christians/Catholics/protestants need to go with the time and change/improve the laws of religion to follow suit that of basic human rights for males and females or in the least match it. in my leftist eye, if they can not adhere with the previous statement then religion has no real further value in human life. other then a hoby or a pas time activity.

You often hear Muslims boast that Islam is the fastest growing religion but is it true? Here's an explanation that contradicts their claims⬇ Islam grows only on birth rates and migration to western countries. Conversion to Islam isn't great. In France 15000 Muslims are leaving Islam per year and 15000 people are converting to Islam at the same time. So there's no gain. The same thing is happening in Islamic communities in western countries and in the Middle East, and North Africa. Atheism is high in Islamic countries and if Muslims convert to other religions, they can't say because they fear being abandoned by family and friends and likely will face violence for leaving Islam. And there is an avalanche of apostasy according to Imams themselves. Even some Imams are apostates. The mosques are full of ex Muslims pretending to still be Muslims out of fear. But as leaving Islam=death because apostasy is punished by death in Islam, there could be millions of apostates. So the real figures of Islam worldwide could be lower. Muslims say there's 1.9 Billion Muslims worldwide. This is not true if you take out the apostates. Also in Islamic countries everyone is declared a Muslim even babies, ex Muslims and non Muslims. How can these figures be accepted? Fastest growing religion is debatable as the actual figures given by Muslims are dubious. Look online for independent statistics from reputable sources. Preferably non Islamic to avoid bias. And the PEW Research Statistics are out of date by nearly 10 years. There's new fresh data out.
