If i remember correctly. from the Light Novel. Ayanokoji was able to save Arisu from falling and even blocked an attack from Tsukishiro before being choke slammed against the wall. Tsukishiro was holding his throat with his hands instead and was actually applying pressure on a specific part of the throat to the point that Ayanokoji couldn’t actually speak. Obviously, he was unable to do anything due to the cameras, so he had no choice but to allow this to happen. Though, he was truly caught off guard by Tsukishiro.

I think this scene actually makes more sense. No matter how fast Koji is he's not going to be able to grab Arisu faster than the chairman can grab him. The only reason he was able to keep her from falling is because the chairman threw a punch instead of immediately trying to pin him which didn't make any sense from a tactical perspective.
