This is rapidly becoming my favorite KZbin channel. James isn’t only an RV expert; he’s an expert communicator. Further, he has that indefinable characteristic that makes him fun to watch and can neither be taught nor learned. We should revere more the “Jameses” of the world. As one with an earned doctorate I think that I can say with some authority that what James does requires at least as much brains and skill as my job and is far more useful.

Thanks for the ride height explanation. When I had to figure out mine on a van a few years ago it seemed like none of the mechanics at the dealership had a clue how it worked and messed it up. Once you spend some time looking at them and finding the spec sheet it really is not hard to hook it up right but you need to follow the instructions. Glad you had a nice trip.
@frankietuned3 жыл бұрын
The answer is pretty simple and a very easy mistake to make. You actually solved it during you explanation of how the leveling valve works. The leveling valve is installed upside down. The exhaust port should always face down. Simple flip the leveling valve and it should be good to go. On a side note, I'm from Chicago and we stopped at that same exact Chevron on our way to the Petrified Forest by Holbrook.

We used to mess with airbag systems delivering decked freightliners. Couple other ways to do it. Best option would be plumb into the good side with the leveller that worked. It would just level both sides the same. 2nd option just put a Schrader valve on a single line coming out of the airbags that were wonky and manually put air in it to get it close.

The whole time you were under that thing I was on pins and needles. I grew up turning wrenches in my grandfathers garage and almost managed to crush myself once. Now anytime I have to go under a vehicle it's a constant fight to remain under it until the jobs done. It doesn't matter if I know that there's no way for what I'm working on to crush me, that fear is still there...

If that is a Barksdale 55521 series cab valve. The two ports together go to the bag or bags. Then the inlet and exhaust ports are on opposite sides. So the spare ports together should have the extra plugged like they did. But from the angles you could get the camera at I couldn’t see the exhaust port.

My GUESS is that with a correct leveling valve, the old control board will be happy. Different behaviors in a fault condition could be due to different firmware in the microcontroller. I work with embedded software engineers who are very good, but my god can they screw stuff up if there isn't good engineering at the system level.

@jameslowmanjr61412 жыл бұрын
WOW. My air leveling valve went bad. My transport look like I was doing a reversed wheelie down the road. Until I got a new one easiest fix is level the airbags off and disconnect the controller arm. But 2 valves for all 4 bags. Something so simple. The RV companies try and improve it which just makes more problems. Sounds to me they tried to put a independent air suspension ride on that. The module that regulates each angle went bad. Then somebody that didn’t know what they were doing just got any air valve leveler and mounted it improperly. But it could just be bad. Because if you pull the lever or push the lever Air should be moving either in or out if it doesn’t replace it. Trying to find parts you could’ve found a truck repair shop they might’ve had an air valve most likely they would’ve but for that system it probably would’ve worked. Been waste of money and time.
