Baqum al-Rumi said to [the Quraysh]: “Do you want the roof [of the Kaaba] pitched or flat?” “Rather build the house of our Lord (rabb) flat.” He [apparently al-Azraqi’s grandfather, Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Azraqi] said: “So they built it flat and they put in it six columns in two rows: in each row were three columns from the northeast corner where is the [Black] Stone, to the southwest corner, and they made its external height from the ground to its summit eighteen cubits high, and previously [the pre-Quraysh Kaaba] had been nine cubits high. The Quraysh added another nine cubits to the upper part, and they built it from the top to the bottom with courses of stone and courses of wood, and fifteen courses were of wood and sixteen courses were of stone, and they fixed its water-spout that pours forth [water] in stone, and they placed wooden steps inside it at the corner to ascend by them to its rear, and they decorated its ceiling and its internal wall surfaces and its columns, and they put on its columns pictures of the Prophets, pictures of trees, and pictures of the angels and there was a picture of the Prophet Abraham with divining arrows, and a picture of Isa b. Maryam and his mother [i.e., Jesus and Mary] and a picture of the angels, upon them be peace, all of them. And when it was the day of the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet (peace be upon him) entered, and he sent off al-Fadl b. al-{Abbas b. {Abd al-Muttalib (his cousin) to come with water from [the well of] Zamzam. Then he called for a cloth, and he ordered [them] to rub off these pictures, and they were obliterated.
al-Azraqi states that on the day of the Islamic conquest of Mecca, the Prophet ordered that the pictures in the Kaaba should be destroyed, but
several sources also cited by al-Azraqi record that the painting showing Isa b. Maryam and his mother was spared on the Prophet’s instructions:

Sulayman [b. Musa al-Shami] said to [{Ata} b. Abi Rabah]: “The pictures of the representations of devils (idols) that were in the House [i.e., the Kaaba], who obliterated them?” He said: “I do not know, other than that they were obliterated, with the exception of those two pictures [Isa b. Maryam and Maryam]. I saw them [i.e., the rest] and their obliteration.” Ibn Jurayj said: “Then returned to the sketch of the six columns that he had drawn in plan. Then he said: ‘The representation of Isa and his mother, upon them be peace, was in the middle of the row that was in front of the door that we came through when we entered [the Kaaba].’” My grandfather

I will add one more thing, about divinity of Jesus. Both the Quran and the Gospels confirm that Jesus is indeed divine because both confirm the virgin birth of Jesus. Virgin Birth in the ancient times meant divine birth. And that was the perception of the people who lived in the 7th century who were used to the Myths or Stories about Miraculous Births for example in Hinduism, Greek Mythology, etc. to say that Jesus is divine, doesn't necessarily mean that He is the God, or the LORD (Al - Lah)!

You and Quran got Trinity completely wrong, Trinity did existed before in early roman empire and Quran is just trying to make a completely. If you study the tafsirs of quran with open minded, you come to know that Quran actually contradicts Trinity and actually confirms it. The concept of trinity was present in zoro scriptures too, way before Hinduism and pagan religions (dated 2.5k BC). Trinity is not something you can understand from Biased muslims giving false claims. You need high IQ and read a lot of history to understand it.

Except Jesus Himself claimed to be God multiple times. It's not simply a matter of miraculous conception. St. John the Baptist (prophet Yahya in Islam)'s birth was a miracle too, because his parents were very old (Luke 1:5-25). Yet we know from Scripture he was a prophet who came to bear witness to the Light: Jesus Christ of Nazareth (John 1:6-13). Islam doesn't get that the promised Messiah had to be God in the flesh because only God can redeem humanity. All previous prophets sent by God failed at some point (and it's ok because they were only human), but Jesus Christ of Nazareth never failed, never sinned and ended up defeating death itself when He rose from His tomb.

if you read the Quran with open mind, you will realize that these people (the Christians, the Messianic Jews and the Muslims) were actually very close. They were the same people before the invention of the word RELIGION into English in 1200 AD and the invention of the Hadith, etc. by the Abassid in the 9th century. Religion is a modern concept (Nongbri Brent, Before Religion, A History of A Modern Concept). And if the concept of (modern) religion didn't exist in the 7th century (we can debate on the meaning of the Quranic DEEN), then these people must have been living quite peacefully with each other at least during the 7th - 9th century. For Example: How could the the Saphoronius, The Patriach of Jerusalem invited Umar to pray inside the Church of Holy Sepelchure? first of all, if these were totally different people, like they are today, it would have been considered as an insult. Secondly, How did the Patriach know the exact time of the Muslim prayer if Muslims were still relatively 'new' and the Christians and the Muslims were already two totally different groups?. Another example: How could the Christians in Spain invite the 'Muslims' to rule Spain and Portugal (Andalusia) if at that time these two groups were totally different in their 'religions'? The Quran should be understood with the understanding that the audience of the Quran who lived in the 7th century knew about the Biblical stories and theological debates among Christians. Just like what Angelika Neuwirth said in one of her lectures.
