The biggest joke I ever heard was people saying Destiny 2 is free to play. You literally can do nothing in the game without buying DLC. It's basically a glorified demo designed to get players hooked so they spend money on the actual meat of the game, which is all locked behind DLC. And the worst part is, all the seasonal content is deleted at the end of every year, so you'll never get to experience any of that shit ever again once it's gone.
@SilverCyric6 күн бұрын
🤔 Yeah…it’s called a free to play model. We don’t do demos or shareware anymore, just hop in and play the game for a few hours, like it, buy some stuff. Don’t like it, then don’t play or pay. I have a friend that is F2P and he maintains regular play, just very casually. Really, in the end, nothing is free. Someone somewhere will pay eventually. It’s called business and one thing about it, is it either works or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t make money it goes away. It’s the ultimate form of democracy. People put money towards things they want and they get more and things they don’t want and don’t buy go away. ✌️

@ You say that like I haven’t played Warframe. I prefer FPS and Destiny is just a better game period. I don’t have endless hours to grind, so it’s not free to play. Nothing is free. Your time is worth money and unless you make very little, or cheat, my time is literally worth more than if I grind for 10 hours or just work for 2 and buy what I need. I enjoy gaming and spent a majority of my free time doing it. I just have a life and a career. That’s a real job that has importance and can’t just be replaced by another person with a GED. 😜 You can play without spending cash because you have 8+ hours a day to grind. You’re spending more than everyone else, by grinding at sub $5/hr. But, hey, if you have hours and hours everyday to just waste and nothing better to do, you do you pal 👍
@swattofficer66243 күн бұрын
@@SilverCyric I've spent plenty money on warframe because i can afford to and wanted to support it. You dont need to grind that much if you are just playing through the story (the New War being a major exception which they have made the grind easier many times). 'Free to play' means you dont need to spend money on content, and you know it. Being pedantic with "well it still costs time" is idiotic and you dang well know it. We dont say a game that you bought for 60 dollars and play for 100 hours "cost 100 hours" to play in relation to how much the game costs. Similarly, a game that costs 0 dollars to buy but you spend 200 hours on didnt "cost 200 hours".
@SilverCyric3 күн бұрын
@ Of course not! You’re stepping over $100 bills to pick up quarters. Time is a resource. You only have so much time and you don’t get more of it. Whatever time you put toward taking has a value assigned to it. The fact you’re arguing with me just places you in a category where you have more time to waste than not. Your time is not as valuable as mine. And just because you CAN afford it doesn’t mean you should… I’m constantly telling my online friends not to spend real cash on impulsive buys, because next week they’re can’t afford their light bill. They could afford it too, at the time, or were willing to pay the late fee. That doesn’t negate my stance, and only serves to strengthen it.

They have no problem putting up a wall saying “you must own dlc to play this mission that’s already installed on your game”, so why don’t we oh idk, let us uninstall a planet. Sunsetting was just so unnecessary. The game literally takes up more space now than it did pre sunsetting. It takes up more space even when it was the first season. Even when they take out the seasons. It has still taken more space. I’ve literally had to delete other games to make space. I’ve never had to do that before sunsetting. Absolutely no excuses for it.

There are two other Warframe players that have recently started playing Destiny 2, and they have each taken different approaches to the game. DPatriot began his Destiny experience by watching the Red War on YT, and watched a huge portion of the removed story content, all the way thru the entire Forsaken Campaign. He has recently just started on Shadowkeep, and older content like Shattered Throne and the Whisper mission. Watching his videos show how poorly some basic mechanics are explained in-game, despite him being very invested in the story. A handful of minor tips about those mechanics would help him a lot. Q_Quicc also recently started D2, but did not do any research on backstory or watch any of the Red War campaign on YT beforehand. He played the poor campaign of Lightfall as his first introduction to the game. He also started Witch Queen without caring about the story, and is playing thru it from the beginning on another character, after finally researching the history of the game thru MyNameisByf's videos. He seems to have fewer "repeated" mistakes, because he has at least one consistent veteran player helping him when he can't figure something out on his own, and will explain how he can do it. Again, some are because of poor in-game introductions to the mechanics. Despite the different approaches, they are both interesting to watch, each frustrating at times for different reasons. They both love the gameplay and are consistently impressed by the locations and music.

Gameplay feels fantastic in Destiny, but I do miss the artistic direction of the original Destiny. It had such a different atmosphere, it felt more immersive and grounded (as far as you can be grounded in this type of game). Destiny 2 looks a bit more cartoony and less detailed (in terms of art) despite better graphics. The worlds felt more alive / ancient despite the D2 worlds having more to do.

Sunsetting is the biggest scam I have ever seen. It is genuinely the reason I stopped playing after thousands of hours, THERE IS NOT 1 GOOD REASON FOR IT TO EXIST. CoD has optional downloads for old games, ARK has optional DLC downloads for the maps/story and many more games have that too. It is the most scummy garbage I have ever seen, no thats not even true, the MOST scummy thing I have ever seen is sunsetting content then bringing it back with a "NEW" tag on it. Same with seasons, there is no reason for this FOMO garbage, Helldivers has shown that battlepasses can and SHOULD be permanent. How can you justify selling a DLC right before it gets sunset with no clear warning to a new player. As a person who bought all DLC on launch I completed "most" of the content, but I cant imagine watching the trailer for a DLC like Forsaken and you think it looks so sick so you decide to buy it, you play for a few weeks and all of a sudden the best DLC they made in D2 is just gone and all the gear you got is useless, why would you continue playing the game after that, you are down money, your DLC is gone and the gear is worthless like you just started to play the game.

That's understandable, but to be fair, all they would have to do would be to allow or insert modifiers to the encounters. Making excuses for them to not have to do better
@fotis3v480Ай бұрын
Just fix the filing issues with compression or whatever the term for files is and bring the old content back for variety. Many new players would wanna do the old content they never got to do. Imagine having access to MENAGERIE for world weapons,The COIL for older seasonal weapons on top of the exotic missions, imagine having the planets for people to run around while grinding publics for glimmer etc etc. The PvP maps in quickplay even tho some are sht it's still variety etc, destiny has zero variety nowadays. They could also just rotate seasonal content, one week you get coil and the leviathan from season of the haunted bosses, then you get the ketch gamemode from plunder then menagerie then forges etc every week two activities. That would bring more players in. And get a proper team of pvp players to balance crucible so it can thrive... destiny could EASILY rival cod in terms of sales and popularity if they invested in it and it would actually make more cosmetic sales if they fixed the prices to something more normal cause I'm not paying 20€ for an armor set but i would pay 10. 100k sales if 10€ is better than 10k sales of 20€.
@OscarASevillaАй бұрын
@@MrRBX exactly. Even more so, they already made that "juice," and people enjoyed it. So why not just leave it in the game, instead of always producing content and then taking it away. Another example is the whole Onslaught space they made before final shape. All those resources and time to make it, and then they take it away once final shape released lol. Instead of reprising weapons, they could just leave the seasonal content from past seasons as well. But again, bungie doesn't want the extra effort of having to maintain it all. Instead of checking boxes off of what the community wants or needs, Bungie just does nothing about it mostly.

The game today feels like it has had all of these systems staples together but there hasnt been much thought as yo how they interact with each other. Its....idk how to properly put it in words but its almost depressing to play for a bit with the five or six different modes/activities but none of them intermingle much. The seasonal content, for me, just hammers that point home even more. I know ppl probably won't share my opinion, but i really hope they rebuild from the ground up and make an interlocked destiny 3. The golden days of destiny are over. In my opinion, it was once a great game, but things have certainly changed for the worst and I don't see an avenue where it ever gets back to what it once was. Sun setting was a disaster, the main story line has ended with no real direction going forward, the community has constantly been rewarded (if that's what you'd call it) with way too much recycled content over and over, the endless grind that is required to stay relevant season after season makes it hard for the casual player to stay engaged long term and this barely scratches the surface of the problems with this game. That said, how do you convince new players to pick this game up with all that's happened? It feels as if this game was supposed to die an honorable death , but massive layoffs at Bungie and tons of bad news surrounding Marathon just to name a few problems lead me to believe they are simply desperate for ongoing revenue. They had no real plan for this game to continue beyond "The Final Shape" and they are just throwing crumbs at the community in an effort to keep the game on life-support.
