Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Compact (Review & Accuracy)

I just picked up one of these for my first gun. I picked it for all the reasons explained in this video. Extremely reliable, made in USA, high quality materials, easy teardown, low recoil, good ergonomics, and I was born in the city they were made.

I was amazed that you say it's not very accurate. I'm grouping mine consistently at 2-3" at 20 yards. Maybe it's the ammo, I usually shoot Winchester 1200 fps ammo.

In the Accuracy I noticed most of your rounds went high and right. M&P has adjustable sights so it's an easy fix. I have this pistol and love it.

I added sights from Dawson Precision to my daughter's M&P 22 compact. It's twice the gun with the new sights.

Will they clear a suppressor? Looking for some new sights for my mp22c but I also run a silencerco Sparrow and need a little height.

I was looking for the 12 plus 1 smith and Wesson full size at a gun show but they didn’t have it. So the TX22 was there and bought it.

Bought mine new, I did not receive the wrench with mine and mine was loose. After one magazine of shooting I had to find a tool to tighten it, dremel wrench seems to work perfectly.

Thanks for the heads up. I have an extra Dremel wrench. Mine was short the wrench also. Put blue Loktite on it as I have no interesting a silencer.

All people dry fire their 22LR pistols in everyday shooting. Most people take out their weapon, load it and begin to fire until they are empty. In most cases the gun won't always lock back and they will pull the trigger when there is no round in the chamber, or known to you and me as dry firing. If this gun can't be dry fired then the only way to make sure that happens is to count the rounds and most people don't do that and will pull the trigger when its empty. I guess they will ruin the gun because it can't be dry fired.

I think you have to take the accuracy issue with a different sense. You really can't expect great accuracy at range with a notorious caliber out of a 3-1/2" barrel. If you're off hand shooting, YOU might be the factor that makes that particular gun shoot poorly. Choosing the proper ammo, and putting the gun on a rest of a vice might make for more proper evaluation of accuracy.

Shot mine for the first time today and had three inch groups at 20 yards. Accuracy wasn't a problem, but the trigger sure needs some work.

Nice .22 handgun collection. I'm leaning towards the SR22 over the S&W. I like how it can be de-cocked with a round in chamber. I have the MK4 like yours, but it's not the light model....😺

You failed to even mention it's a captured guide rod and spring. Most other models do not have that, very appealing. Also, just look for those Chinese wrenches in a bin at autozone, they are always thinner 😆 Edit: you forgot it's all made in America🇺🇸

Love your videos man. I love my s&w compact 22. I have a dead air mask 22 suppressor in jail. As far as baffle strikes do I just need to make sure it's always tight?

Hi Andrew and I appreciate your support. I always keep my suppressor tight but not too tight. That means on most pistols like the M&P 22 I will check the tightness typically after each mag...so wear gloves :-)

I really love your videos you explain very well everything, I want to buy Walter ppq and you said that it's extremely accuracy and other channels said that it amazing, but to go to shoot range and practice with 22 caliber, rugger, it's not accuracy and s&w compact neither, I'm confused about Walter p22q some channels said that it's amazing and another said that it's very bad pistol, I'll like having your opinion to know what it's the best pistol 22 caliber, thanks you

Instead OG dremeling your wrench, you can just slip a small pipe over the wrench they give you to get more leverage.

Good review. I think accuracy is a big part of a gun. Handguns are usually used within 20 yards, and if they are not even accurate with that kind of distance, they are not so useful. I'm going to buy a Ruger SR22 22LR. Thank you.

I bought New s&w 22 compact and it only fired few times before it stoped firing. Accuracy sucks, reliability sucks and can’t dry fire it. Do not buy this junk. I can’t take it back and had to sent it back for repairs. Hopefully it will work after 4-6 months in the shop. Never had this problem with any of my guns

I just got mine a couple weeks ago so far no problems I use federal 36 grain 1260 ft per second ammo. I have no problem with the accuracy. Maybe it was that you needed to adjust the sights. Love this pistol. Hope yours wasn't just a manufacturing defect.
